Sun Jan 19 201415:40Wes Johnson scores eight points vs. Raps
Wes Johnson scored eight points with three boards, one assist and two 3-pointers in 23 minutes vs. the Raptors on Sunday.
He was starting to heat up thanks to playing 33.5 minutes per game in his previous games this month. Johnson doesn't get many chances to score outside of catch-and-shoot triples or buckets in transition, so he's going to have quiet games like this one. He's a solid player to own thanks to some defensive contributions.

Thu Jan 16 201401:40Wes Johnson scores 22 points in 44 minutes
Wes Johnson kept his foot on the gas with 22 points in 44 minutes on Wednesday, hitting 7-of-14 shots (2-of-5 3PTs, 6-of-7 FTs) with five rebounds, two steals and one block.
Johnson holds low-end value as long as he is hitting something near 1.0 steals, blocks and threes per game, so when you add offense to that mix the results can get explosive as you can see here tonight. He should be owned in all standard formats at least until players start returning for the Lakers.

Wed Jan 15 201401:49Wes Johnson scores 17 in another loss
Wes Johnson hit 7-of-13 shots for 17 points, five rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block in Tuesday's loss.
The Lakers have now lost 11 of their last 12 games, but Johnson is playing well for his fantasy owners, averaging 14.5 points and 1.75 3-pointers per game over his last four. He should be able to keep it going as long as Kobe Bryant remains sidelined.

Thu Jan 9 201400:21Wes Johnson puts up another solid game
Wes Johnson played 31 minutes against the Rockets in Wednesday's 113-99 loss, scoring 10 points, four boards, three assists, three steals and two 3-pointers on 4-of-13 shooting.
He had a productive 17-point, three-triple game in 36 minutes on Tuesday and is back to being a key piece of the Lakers' rotation. Johnson has been very inconsistent throughout his career, so he's not a slam-dunk pickup in most leagues.

Wed Jan 8 201402:01Wes Johnson breaks out in Lakers loss
Wes Johnson made another start at small forward and hit 7-of-14 shots and three 3-pointers for 17 points and four rebounds in 36 minutes.
Johnson has been threatening to breakout for some time, but had scored two points in two of his last four games before tonight's explosion. As long as he continues to start at small forward for the Lakers, he should be given close attention in fantasy. He's not a must-own player, but could quickly become one if he starts producing similar lines on a regular basis.

Mon Jan 6 201400:26Wes Johnson doesn't do anything in start
Wes Johnson was quiet in his start against the Nuggets on Sunday, scoring two points with three rebounds, one steal and one block.
Johnson's numbers are worse as a starter with lower points, rebounds, blocks and 3-pointers compared to his bench role. He is down to just 41.1 percent from the field on the year and is only worth owning in deeper leagues.

Sun Jan 5 201414:21Wesley Johnson back in the starting lineup
Wesley Johnson will start against the Nuggets on Sunday night.
Nick Young will move back to the bench for the Lakers while Johnson will join Kendall Marshall, Jodie Meeks, Pau Gasol and Robert Sacre in the starting lineup. Johnson has struggled mightily over his last nine, shooting 36.8 percent from the field with averages of 6.1 points, 3.2 boards, 2.2 assists 0.7 steals and 0.8 blocks. He can be left on the wire in most leagues. Young owners shouldn't be concerned about his move to the bench hurting his production.

Sat Jan 4 201402:57Johnson (illness) returns to action on Friday
Wes Johnson (illness) returned to action on Friday, scoring 11 points on 5-of-5 shooting (including a three) with one rebound, one assist, two steals and one block in 21 minutes.
This is the type of line that had Johnson posting mid-round value earlier in the year, and despite falling off the fantasy radar over the past two weeks he is still returning mid-to-late round value on the season. Owners taking the longview here, especially in light of the Lakers injuries, will want to give him a hard look.

Fri Jan 3 201413:56Wes Johnson ready to go for Lakers
Wes Johnson (illness) will return for Friday's game against the Jazz.
Johnson is back, but Nick Young will continue to start at small forward with Jodie Meeks at shooting guard. It makes Johnson a very weak play on Friday as his minutes figure to be capped.

Thu Jan 2 201416:30Wes Johnson (illness) expected to play Friday
Wes Johnson (illness) is expected to play vs. Utah on Friday, though he may not start.
Johnson sat out Tuesday's game with a stomach bug, shifting Nick Young into the starting lineup. Mike D'Antoni's lineups have been an ever-changing jigsaw puzzle this season and we may have to wait until shootaround until he announces his starters vs. the Jazz.

Tue Dec 31 201320:47Wes Johnson (illness) won't play vs. Bucks
Wes Johnson (illness) will not play against the Bucks on Tuesday night.
The Lakers have dealt with all sorts of injuries and this will be Johnson's first game on the inactive list. He had been coming in ice cold with just two points combined in his last two games. Nick Young will start at small forward, so that should be fun for those staying in on New Year's Eve to watch some hoops. Swaggy P is worth owning in all standard formats.

Tue Dec 31 201314:24Wes Johnson (illness) iffy to play Tuesday
Wes Johnson (illness) is questionable to play in Tuesday's home game vs. the Bucks.
Nick Young is expected to start at SF if Johnson can't suit up, which would give L.A. a starting lineup of Jordan Farmar, Jodie Meeks, Young, Shawne Williams and Pau Gasol. Anyone relying on Johnson for a handful of 3-pointers should double-check his status prior to tip-off.

Mon Dec 30 201300:34Wes Johnson makes 0-of-3 FGs in defeat
Wes Johnson missed all three of his field goals on Sunday, scoring two points with four rebounds and two turnovers in 19 minutes.
Jodie Meeks fared better, knocking down four 3-pointers on his way to 15 points, and both guys should earn more playing time (and shots) if Xavier Henry's strained knee costs him any games. Of the two, Meeks has been a fare more reliable option since Kobe Bryant (knee) went down.

Sun Dec 22 201301:50Wes Johnson goes 0-for-7 on Saturday
Wes Johnson started for the Lakers on Saturday, but missed all seven of his shots for two points, five rebounds, two assists and a steal in a whopping 39 minutes.
He hasn't scored more than nine points in his last five games, but is due for an explosion at some point, especially if he keeps getting this kind of run. As for the new Lakers starters on the wings, we'd rank them Xavier Henry, Jodie Meeks and then Johnson. And once Jordan Farmar is healthy enough to start at point guard, one of those guys is going to likely be heading to the bench.

Sat Dec 21 201301:44Johnson posts versatile line in win vs. MIN
Wes Johnson posted a versatile line in Friday's win, scoring six points on 3-of-8 shooting with four rebounds, five assists, two steals and one block in 30 minutes.
You can bet the career-high total in assists isn't going to be a regular thing as soon as the Lakers get a real point guard in the fold, but with Kobe out for six weeks there is a wide-open window for Johnson to produce. His productivity had fallen below a 12-team level for a recent stretch, but with top 75-100 value on the year there's more than enough reason to make the add. In fact, he's probably a must-add player given those metrics.

Mon Dec 16 201322:02Johnson quiet for the Lakers on Monday
Wes Johnson scored six points on 3-of-9 shooting (no threes) with four rebounds and one block in 28 minutes on Monday against the Hawks.
Johnson has cooled off a lot lately but as a mid-round value to start the year he's still worth fantasy consideration in 12-14 team formats. Just don't expect consistency now that Kobe Bryant is back.

Sat Dec 14 201322:13Wes Johnson plays 36 minutes vs. Bobcats
Wes Johnson played a team-high 36 minutes against the Bobcats on Saturday with nine points, four boards, two assists, one steal, one block and three 3-pointers.
The nine points obviously won't make this a heralded line, but putting up production in other areas makes Johnson an interesting piece to pick up in some fantasy leagues. He played 34 minutes on Friday and his minutes figure to be safe on a short-term basis. Fantasy owners can think about picking him up as long as they're aware of how up and down Johnson can be.

Sat Dec 14 201301:12Wes Johnson gets 34 minutes vs. OKC
Wes Johnson played 34 minutes against the Thunder on Friday and had 13 points, three boards, one assist, one block, two steals and one 3-pointer on 6-of-13 from the field.
It was his best line in a week after a couple disappointing games with Kobe Bryant rejoining the Lakers. Johnson averaged just 3.5 points in 22.5 minutes during his two games with the Black Mamba, but there are plenty of minutes up for grabs on the wing due to all the injured guards on the LAL roster. Johnson is worth a look and could have some value at least until Jordan Farmar (hamstring) comes back.

Fri Dec 13 201320:11Wes Johnson moves into starting lineup
Wes Johnson will start at small forward next to Kobe Bryant, Jodie Meeks, Jordan Hill and Pau Gasol against the Thunder on Friday.
Kobe Bryant is going to run the point with the Lakers out of point guards. Meeks should be in line for a few open looks while Xavier Henry will carry the second unit.
