Sat Jul 17 201000:29Hochevar (elbow) undergoes MRI
Luke Hochevar underwent an MRI on his right elbow Friday.
The results aren't yet known, though it is thought to be precautionary. "With this MRI, they ended up shooting dye in his elbow, so it's going to take a couple days to get that dye and that fluid out of there and once that fluid's out of there, he'll be back getting after it again," said Royals manager Ned Yost. Hochevar has been sidelined for a little over a month due to a sprained right elbow.

Wed Jul 7 201012:07Hochevar's rehab put on hold
According to Royals interim manager Ned Yost, Luke Hochevar's rehab from a sprained right elbow has been put on hold.
"We're just taking it easy with him until the All-Star break, and he should be 100 percent and be able to start ramping back," said Yost. "We're just taking a cautious approach with him. He's too important to what we're trying to do to push it right now." Hochevar will certainly require a minor league rehab assignment before he returns from the disabled list, so the chances of seeing him this month are pretty slim.

Tue Jun 29 201001:02Hochevar (elbow) hopes to throw off mound
Luke Hochevar (elbow) hopes to throw off a mound Wednesday for the first time since going on the disabled list earlier this month.
"That's what we're shooting for," said Hochevar. "We're looking at 15-20 pitches." The 26-year-old right-hander has yet to experience any setbacks in his recovery from a sprained elbow and hopes to soon go out on a minor league rehab assignment. There are still some significant hurdles to jump over, but Hochevar would like to return before the All-Star break.

Royals placed RHP Luke Hochevar on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 12, with a sprained right elbow.

Fri Jun 11 201023:08Hochevar lasts just four innings
Luke Hochevar was lifted for a pinch-hitter after throwing just 68 pitches against the Reds on Friday night.
Hochevar had yielded four earned runs on six hits and had walked none. It was a borderline decision to lift him, but it worked out for the Royals as they went on to score two runs in the inning and win the game in extras. Hochevar will clearly be fresh for next week's tasty matchup with the Astros.
Sat Jun 5 201022:21Royals' Hochevar strikes out 10 vs. Tigers
Luke Hochevar struck out 10 while allowing one run in seven innings Saturday against the Tigers.
Hochevar bested his previous season high by three strikeouts, but he couldn't get a win with little support. The Royals scored plenty of runs during his first 10 starts, but they've been held down his last two times out.
Mon May 31 201016:56Royals' Hochevar allows two homers in loss
Luke Hochevar surrendered five runs in seven innings Monday in a loss to the Angels.
Hochevar was due to start giving up some homers. Juan Rivera and Maicer Izturis took him deep today, doubling his season total. Now he's allowed four homers in 67 innings, compared to 23 in 143 innings last year.
Wed May 26 201016:51Royals' Hochevar improves to 5-2
Luke Hochevar moved to 5-2 by pitching eight innings of two-run ball in a win over the Rangers on Wednesday.
Joakim Soria pitched the ninth for a save in a 5-2 game. This marks the first time since August that Hochevar has come up with back-to-back quality starts. We're still not particularly impressed, though. He's been very lucky to give up just two homers in 60 innings, and he still has a 4.95 ERA anyway.

Luke Hochevar pitched a four-hitter Thursday as the Royals beat the Indians 9-3.
Hochevar struck out seven in his third career complete game. He's now 4-2 for the season, but that comes with a 5.37 ERA. If you're thinking about picking him up now, realize that he hasn't turned in back-to-back quality starts since last August.
Tue May 4 201023:30Hochevar allows only 1 UR over 6 innings
Luke Hochevar allowed one unearned run on only three hits over six innings Tuesday versus the White Sox.
The maddeningly inconsistent hurler was on tonight, as the White Sox lineup couldn't put anything together against him. The only problems Hochevar found himself in were self induced, as he walked four. It's easy to get impressed by his 3-1 record and former No. 1 pick hype, but Hochevar is far too streaky for mixed formats. Tuesday's outing dropped is ERA to 5.03, a mark so high because of his propensity for train wreck outings.
Thu Apr 29 201022:37Hochevar allows 11 hits, nine earned to Rays
Luke Hochevar was shelled for 11 hits and nine earned runs over 2 2/3 innings Thursday as the Royals were dismantled by the Rays.
Tampa Bay continues to roll. The Rays had their way with Hochevar Thursday night, collecting nine runs before the third inning and 11 overall. Hochevar, now with a 6.11 ERA and 1.71 WHIP on the year, should be not be owned in mixed formats. He's far too streaky.
Wed Apr 7 201023:56Luke Hochevar throws seven-plus scoreless
Luke Hochevar held the Tigers to five hits and no runs over 7 2/3 innings Wednesday in his first outing of the season.
Hochevar was left with a no-decision as the game carried into extra innings. He was great, showing incredible fastball velocity that stuck around 96 MPH well into the later innings. The Royals don't have much hope this year in the AL Central, but they do have a few young pitchers worth tracking.
