Fister (5-7) pitched two scoreless innings of relief to capture the win in Sunday's victory over the Marlins.

Fister came on in the fifth inning after Stephen Strasburg exited due to upper-back discomfort. At the moment, the Nationals haven't ruled Strasburg out from making his next scheduled start Friday versus Atlanta, but if he can't go, Fister would seem a logical replacement after having served in the rotation for most of the season.

Fister will move to the bullpen when Stephen Strasburg returns to the rotation, James Wagner of the Washington Post reports.

The writing has been on the wall for a while with Fister, who has given up 15 earned runs in his last four starts and allowed a .337 batting average against. Rookie Joe Ross has been stellar in the meantime, so the Nationals will go with the better pitcher as they battle for the division. Fister figures to work as a multi-inning reliever and isn't likely to return to the rotation barring another Nationals injury. The free agent-to-be's fantasy value is minimal at this point.
