RHP Doug Fister was signed to a minor league deal several weeks ago with hopes that he could revive his career and help the Angels rotation. But he has allowed seven runs in 15 2/3 innings in three starts with Triple-A Salt Lake City. He has a June 21 opt-out date in his minor league deal. The Angels' options are to activate him, grant his release or negotiate an extension of his minor league deal. Fister has a 77-76 record in eight seasons with four teams. He was 14-9 with a 3.67 ERA in 2013 with Detroit and 16-6 with a 2.41 ERA in 2014 with Washington. He was 12-13 for Houston last season with 24 home runs allowed in 180 innings.

RHP Doug Fister officially signed with the Angels on Saturday. Fister, who reportedly agreed to terms with the Angels on Thursday, was optioned to Single-A Inland Empire, though he will first head to the Angels' spring training facility in Arizona to get some work in during extended spring training league games. It is expected that Fister will join the Angels' injury-plagued rotation once he is fully stretched out. RHP Ricky Nolasco and RHP Matt Shoemaker are the only members of the Opening Day rotation who have taken every turn for the Angels, who have already used eight starting pitchers. It was the sixth time in the last seven seasons Fister has made at least 25 starts. Fister is 77-76 with a 3.60 ERA in 212 major league games (199 starts) dating back to 2009.

The Los Angeles Angels reached agreement on a major league contract with free agent right-hander Doug Fister, the team announced Saturday.Fister agreed to be optioned to Class A Inland Empire but likely will be promoted soon to the 40-man roster, as Los Angeles is dealing with injuries to starters Garrett Richards (biceps strain) and Tyler Skaggs (oblique).Fister posted a 12-13 mark with a 4.64 ERA last season with the Houston Astros. The 33-year-old is three years removed his best season, in which he produced a 16-6 record with a 2.41 ERA for the Washington Nationals.Fister has a 77-76 career mark with seven complete games, two shutouts and a 3.60 ERA in eight seasons with the Seattle Mariners, Detroit Tigers, Nationals and Astros.In a corresponding move, the Angels shuffled right-hander Andrew Bailey (shoulder) from the 10-day disabled list to the 60-day DL. He has been out since April 10 due to right shoulder inflammation.Bailey, 32, has struck out two without allowing a hit over three scoreless innings early this season before landing on the DL.

RHP Doug Fister, a free agent, was reported by FanRagSports to be a candidate to replace injured RHP Shelby Miller (elbow) in Arizona's starting rotation. "I have a great degree of trust in our front office," manager Torey Lovullo said. "They do some amazing research. They give us the team. That is not my department. Nothing along the lines of Fister has crossed my plate." Fister was 12-13 with a 4.64 ERA in 32 starts with Houston last season, his eighth. RHP Doug Fister capped a miserable month of September by allowing five runs on five hits and one walk over 1 1/3 innings against the Mariners. Fister closed the month with an 0-4 record and an 11.74 ERA. He signed a one-year deal with the Astros last offseason and will be a free agent when the season concludes.

"He was the definition of a pitcher with the way he got through the lineup, which is a tough lineup to face because they have some pretty good power and a lot of speed."

RHP Doug Fister is slated to start Monday for the Houston Astros against the Pirates in Pittsburgh. Fister is 11-8 with a 3.76 ERA this season. He is 1-2 with a 2.08 ERA in five career starts against the Pirates.

RHP Doug Fister allowed four or more runs for the third time in his past five starts. Across that stretch (27 2/3 innings), Fister has allowed 16 runs and 37 hits. After two impressive starts to open August where he allowed just one run across 12 innings, Fister has struggled with location and movement over his past two starts. On Wednesday against St. Louis, he was touched up for four runs on seven hits in four innings.

RHP Doug Fister allowed one run in six innings on Saturday night for his club-leading 15th quality start this season. Fister has surrendered one earned run in his last two starts and is just one of three American League pitchers to hold the opposition to three runs of less in 18 total starts (Tigers RHP Justin Verlander and Blue Jays LHP J.A. RHP Doug Fister was placed on the paternity-leave list. Fister is eligible to return on Saturday.

RHP Doug Fister worked six scoreless innings against the Blue Jays and produced a season-high eight strikeouts, his most since recording nine on Sept. 26, 2014, against the Marlins. Fister posted his 17th start this season in which he allowed three runs or fewer.

RHP Doug Fister's availability to start Monday remains in question. "We're still in a holding pattern," manager A.J. Hinch said. "It may be a photo finish for the game. We're going to talk about it on the plane after the game." Fister remained in Houston with his wife anticipating the birth of their first child. "There is some concern about him waiting with a phone in the dugout while he's pitching in the middle of a game," Hinch said. "It's a tall task against a really good offense. We've got a lot of options." Among those options is calling up a pitcher from the minors or going through a handful of relievers in what is known as a 'bullpen day.'

RHP Doug Fister remained on the roster as of Friday but could go on paternity leave at any time to attend the birth of his first child. "He's still scheduled to pitch Monday," manager A.J. Hinch said, noting Houston would adjust when it became necessary.

RHP Doug Fister pitched seven shutout innings in a 7-0 victory against the Oakland A's on Wednesday afternoon. Fister (10-6) beat the A's for the third time in four starts this season, allowing four hits while striking out five and walking two. Coming into the game he had a 1.31 ERA over 20 2/3 innings against Oakland this season. He has now allowed three earned runs over 27 2/3 innings vs. the A's. The A's never got a runner past second base against Fister, who made his 17th career start against them, his most starts against any team. Fister said that he and C Jason Castro met before the game and decided they were going to "attack" the A's hitters and make them swing the bats. "Seeing them a lot, they know what we do, we know what they do," Fister said. "It just comes down to execution, and I was going to fill the zone up. Yes, I walked two guys, but in the end I'm going to let those guys run it down. Outfielders, infielders , everybody's playing well. Those are the kinds of things we want to do. Our guys are swinging it well. I want to get them back in the dugout so they can go back to swinging it. I want to get them off the field as soon as possible. Today was just a matter of filling up the zone and throwing the sinker."

RHP Doug Fister was in total control of Friday's game until things fell apart in the fifth. Fister gave up a run-scoring wild pitch and a two-run double, eventually ending his night. Over five innings, Fister allowed five hits and three runs.
