Thu May 12 201115:22Reid Brignac doubles in two runs
Reid Brignac finally collected his first extra-base hit Thursday, delivering a two-run double against the Indians.
Brignac's first extra-base hit came after teammate Ben Zobrist already had 22. His slump has cost him playing time in recent days -- today's start was his sixth in 10 games this month -- but the Rays would love to make him an everyday player again if he steps it up.

Tue Mar 22 201122:31Brignac has two hits in win over Red Sox
Reid Brignac went 2-for-4 with an RBI single and a run scored in a 7-4 win over the Red Sox on Tuesday night.
Brignac is now batting a cool .417 (15-for-36) this spring, though all but two of his hits have been singles. The 25-year-old is unlikely to hit for a high batting average this season, but should reach double-digit homers and even swipe a few bags with the benefit of regular playing time.

Sun Mar 20 201116:28Rays' Brignac goes 2-for-3
Reid Brignac's spring average is up to .433 in 30 at-bats after he went 2-for-3 on Sunday.
Even though he was quite an RBI guy in limited action last year, Brignac has spent the spring batting ninth for the Rays. Perhaps he'll move up to sixth or seventh if he keeps it going during April.

Mon Mar 7 201108:37Brignac says his groin soreness is gone
Reid Brignac said Monday that the tightness in his groin has completely subsided.
The Rays are going to give him a couple of days of extra rest anyway. Brignac has plenty of time to rack up Grapefruit League at-bats. He'll be starting at shortstop this year for Tampa Bay.

Sat Mar 5 201110:52Brignac could miss a week with groin issue
Rays manager Joe Maddon said Reid Brignac could miss a week of action with tightness in his groin.
This after the team said earlier Saturday that scratching him from today's lineup was merely precautionary. At this point, we shouldn't worry about his status for Opening Day being affected, but groin problems can often linger. Ray Olmedo took Brignac's spot in the lineup Saturday.

Tue Dec 7 201014:45Maddon speaks highly of SS Reid Brignac
Rays manager Joe Maddon said Tuesday that he considers Reid Brignac to be one of the top fielding shortstops in all of baseball.
Maddon made that comment without any mention of Jason Bartlett, who is being shopped aggressively this winter and will only return in a backup role. Brignac doesn't have the most developed bat, but he did flash decent power numbers in the minor leagues and should be a relatively productive fantasy option inside a dynamic Rays offense. Bartlett is now an afterthought.

Sun Oct 10 201010:54Brignac starting in Game 4 of the ALDS
Reid Brignac is in the starting lineup for Game 4 of the ALDS against the Rangers.
Brignac will replace Jason Bartlett at shortstop and bat ninth against right-hander Tommy Hunter. Bartlett was 2-9 over the first three games so Joe Maddon is trying to see if Brignac could provide a spark for the Rays who are facing elimination. Carlos Pena has moved up to fifth in the lineup after a big Game 3.

Mon Sep 13 201023:26Brignac delivers walk-off shot
Reid Brignac delivered a pinch-hit, walk-off solo homer in Monday's win over the Yankees.
It was the only run scored in the game, but the Rays will take it. He's batting .263 with seven homers and 40 RBI on the season.
Sun Jul 25 201016:28Brignac leads Rays past Indians with homer
Reid Brignac delivered a three-run homer that was the difference in the Rays' 4-2 win over the Indians today.
The homer was Brignac's only hit of the game, but he sure made it count. With four homers in his last six games, Brignac is displaying some of the power he flashed in the minors in prior seasons. Mixed leaguers could do worse while Brignac is on a hot streak, but he's best left to AL-only formats.
Sat Jul 17 201020:03Brignac homers twice in win over Bombers
Reid Brignac was 3-for-5 with a career-high two home runs and five RBI in a 10-5 win over the Yankees on Saturday.
Brignac entered play on Saturday with three home runs in 289 career at-bats, but he slugged a two-run shot off starter A.J. Burnett in the second and a three-run blast off right-hander Dustin Moseley in the fifth. It was Brignac's first three-hit game since June 12. While it was a great day for the young infielder, he doesn't play enough to warrant much attention in mixed formats.
Wed Apr 7 201016:00Brignac starts at second base on Wednesday
Reid Brignac will start at second base and bat ninth against Jeremy Guthrie and the Orioles on Wednesday.
Sean Rodriguez drew the start for the Rays' season opener. They'll likely continue to share playing time based on matchups, though we see Rodriguez as the more promising player in fantasy terms.
