Sat Jan 22 201112:43Tigers GM says Galarraga trade 'likely'
Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski said trade talks with other teams regarding Armando Galarraga are progressing and that a deal is "likely."
Galarraga posted a decent 4.49 ERA and 1.34 WHIP this past season over 144 1/3 innings, but he's not anything more than a serviceable No. 5 starter. Of course, that's better than many teams have right now, so Dombrowski should be able to find a taker. He's a flyball pitcher that would be well served to land in a pitcher-friendly park.

Wed Jan 19 201108:53Dombrowski aims to trade RHP Galarraga
Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski is "confident" that he'll be able to find a trade partner for Armando Galarraga.
"You never know until you get it done," said Dombrowski. "We've had enough clubs express some interest. It's not like I have a for-sure deal, but I do have enough clubs that have asked me about him." Galarraga was designated for assignment Tuesday, just one day after agreeing to a new one-year, $2.3 million contract. The Tigers could have waited until March to trade or release Galarraga, but they apparently like their chances of finding a deal right now.

Tue Jan 18 201115:14Tigers designate RHP Galarraga for assignment
Tigers designated RHP Armando Galarraga for assignment.
Just one day after the two sides avoided arbitration with a one-year, $2.3 million contract. Of course, contracts to arbitration-eligible players aren't guaranteed, but the Tigers would owe him termination pay if he is ultimately released. Galarraga, 29, posted a 4.49 ERA over 144 1/3 innings last season and should draw some interest.
Mon Jan 17 201123:45Tigers and Galarraga agree to 1-year deal
Tigers and RHP Armando Galarraga avoided arbitration Monday by agreeing to a one-year, $2.3 million contract.
Galarraga was arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter. The 29-year-old right-hander went 4-9 with a 4.49 ERA over 144 1/3 innings last season, including his near perfect game in June. If everything breaks right for the Tigers, Galarraga is likely the odd-man out in the starting rotation. The club could simply release him during spring training, but they'll likely either keep him in the bullpen or shop him before Opening Day.

Sun Jan 16 201109:36Orioles still shopping for pitching
The Orioles are still shopping for both a left-handed reliever and "one more, if not two" starters, according to the Baltimore Sun's Jeff Zrebiec.
Zrebiec thinks a trade for a starter is more likely, with Tigers' Armando Galarraga, the Braves' Kenshin Kawakami, the Cubs' Tom Gorzelanny and the Phillies' Joe Blanton likely targets. As far as lefty relievers go, Joe Beimel, Randy Flores, Ron Mahay, Dennys Reyes, Scott Schoeneweis and Bobby Seay are still on the market.

Sat Oct 2 201021:15Galarraga strikes out seven in final start
Armando Galarraga allowed two earned runs over eight innings Saturday as the Tigers lost to the Orioles.
A nice finish to a memorable season for the 28-year-old Galarraga, who came within an out of a perfect game back in June. He struck out seven batters and walked just one, finishing up with a 4-9 record, 4.49 ERA and 1.34 WHIP over 25 outings (24 starts). He fanned 74 batters in 144 1/3 innings.
Wed Sep 15 201023:17Galarraga ripped in Texas
Armando Galarraga yielded eight runs -- seven earned -- over just 3 2/3 innings in a loss at Texas Wednesday night.
Galarraga came into tonight with a 3.48 ERA at home and 5.36 mark on the road. He struck out just two tonight while walking one and giving up eight hits. Still, streamers should consider Galarraga for next week's matchup with the light-hitting Royals. It's at Comerica Park.
Fri Sep 10 201022:33Galarraga solid in no-decision
Armando Galarraga yielded three earned runs over seven innings as part of a no-decision against the Orioles Friday night.
The most interesting part of this game was that Jim Joyce was the home-plate umpire. The Tigers fans gave Joyce a nice ovation before the game and it went on without incident. Galarraga gave up only four hits, but struck out just two and walked two. He's a fringe pitcher in mixed leagues.
Tue Aug 31 201023:18Galarraga gives up 2 runs in no-decision
Armando Galarraga yielded two runs over six innings Tuesday in a no-decision against the Twins.
He gave up eight hits and no walks while striking out two. Galarraga has produced decent numbers this season and now has a 3.98 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 57/33 K/BB rate in 110 2/3 innings. He's usable in AL-only leagues, especially with a tasty matchup on deck in Kansas City.
Wed Aug 25 201017:20Tigers' Galarraga holds Royals to one run
Armando Galarraga yielded one run in 6 1/3 innings Wednesday in a no-decision against the Royals.
It was maybe the easiest assignment any AL starter has had this season: the Royals had Willie Bloomquist batting third today and they used an outfield of Jai Miller, Gregor Blanco and Chris Getz. Galarraga was plenty effective against the group, but it was a little disappointing that he ran up enough of a pitch count to get himself pulled in the seventh. Ryan Perry and Jose Valverde combined to blow a two-run lead in the eighth, so Galarraga was left without a victory.
Fri Aug 20 201021:52Galarraga puts on a show against Indians
Armando Galarraga twirled seven innings of shutout ball to beat the Indians on Friday night.
It's the first time Galarraga has allowed zero runs in a start since his 28-out perfect game against the Indians on June 2. He struck out eight, walked none and yielded three hits as part of the gem. Yes, it came against perhaps the worst lineup in the league, but it's impressive nonetheless. Galarraga gets another tasty matchup with the Royals next time out and is a spot-start candidate. Just remember that he was 1-4 with a 5.12 ERA in 12 starts between the two outings against Cleveland.
Mon Aug 9 201022:43Galarraga struggles in loss to Rays
Armando Galarraga allowed four runs over five innings in Monday's loss to Tampa Bay.
The big right-hander allowed five hits and walked four while striking out one. Galarraga has mixed in a quality start here and there, but not surprisingly, he hasn't been very effective since his unofficial perfect game. The 38/29 K/BB ratio in particular leaves something to be desired. He will face the White Sox on the road this weekend and is not a recommended play.
Wed Aug 4 201022:12Galarraga (ankle) pitches but takes a loss
Armando Galarraga yielded four earned runs over 7 2/3 innings in a loss to the White Sox on Wednesday night.
Galarraga left his last start early after taking a liner off his ankle, but that wasn't an issue tonight. He slugged his way through 118 pitches, striking out just one and walking five. Since his near perfect game, Galarraga has seen his ERA rise from 2.57 to 4.32. He's not a recommended play with the Rays up next.
Fri Jul 30 201021:22Galarraga exits with right ankle contusion
Armando Galarraga left Friday's game in the fifth inning after taking a Kevin Youkilis comebacker off his right ankle.
Galarraga was diagnosed with a right ankle contusion. He was replaced on the mound by Enrique Gonzalez after walking off the field on his own power. Consider Galarraga day-to-day. He allowed one run on five hits and two walks over 4 2/3 innings before leaving Friday's game.

Sun Jul 25 201015:50Galarraga holds Jays to three runs
Armando Galarraga limited the Blue Jays to three runs in seven innings on Sunday but did not factor into the decision of a 5-3 Tigers' loss.
Galarraga struck out five and walked none, but a pair of homers by Vernon Wells and Jose Molina accounted for all three runs he allowed. While he's capable of posting quality starts or even dominant starts from time to time, Galarraga is much too inconsistent to use in most formats. He's certainly not an option with the Red Sox due up next.
Mon Jul 19 201014:15Tigers recall Armando Galarra from Triple-A
Tigers recalled RHP Armando Galarraga from Triple-A Toledo.
He's back. Galarraga went 1-1 with a 5.61 ERA in six starts after his June 2 near-perfect game and was optioned back to Toledo during the first week of July. He should go unowned in most fantasy leagues.
Wed Jul 7 201001:09Tigers option Galarraga to Triple-A
Tigers option RHP Armando Galarraga to Triple-A Toledo.
Though Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski said the demotion will only be temporary, it's worth mentioning that Galarraga is 1-1 with a 5.61 ERA over six starts since his infamous bid with perfection on June 2. The lanky right-hander is tentatively scheduled to start with Triple-A Toledo on July 15 before possibly re-joining the major league team against the Rangers on July 20. Right-hander Robbie Weinhardt is expected to join the team in a corresponding roster move Wednesday.
Tue Jun 29 201023:22Galarraga takes loss vs. Twins
Armando Galarraga was tagged for six runs over four-plus innings in a loss to the Twins on Tuesday night.
Galarraga gave up seven hits -- four of them for extra bases-- while walking two and striking out two. He has struggled a bit recently, allowing 14 runs over his last 14 1/3 innings (8.79 ERA), but he's a recommended play in AL-only leagues against the Mariners this weekend.
Sun Jun 13 201016:09Galarraga goes 7 2/3 strong in no-decision
Armando Galarraga threw 7 2/3 innings of two-run ball against the Pirates on Sunday to take a no-decision in a game the Tigers would eventually win.
Galarraga was at 107 pitches after Andrew McCutchen singled with two outs in the eighth. That chased Galarraga from the game, allowing reliever Brad Thomas to pick up the win when the Tigers took the lead in the bottom of the eighth. Galarraga didn't strike anyone out, but he also walked just one and gave up six hits. He's a mediocre option in AL-only leagues with the Diamondbacks due up next.
Tue Jun 8 201023:19Galarraga allows 2 over 5 innings in ND
In his first start since a near-perfect game last Wednesday, Armando Galarraga allowed two runs over five innings against the White Sox in a no-decision Tuesday.
Galarraga scattered seven hits while striking out two and allowing two walks. He now owns a spectacular 2.77 ERA and 1.00 WHIP, but, even so, he's only worth owning in AL-only leagues. Against the Pirates this weekend, he is a great option in that format.
