Sun Aug 8 201013:37Takahashi to start Saturday
Hisanori Takahashi will return to the Mets rotation on Saturday against the Phillies.
That will make it exactly two weeks in between starts. The left-hander's last start was one of his best of the season, as he allowed only one run while striking out a career-high 10. Takahashi has been up and down this season, though, so he's hard to trust after such a long layoff.

Mon Aug 2 201017:07Takahashi available out of bullpen this week
Mets manager Jerry Manuel said that Hisanori Takahashi will be available out of the bullpen starting Wednesday.
In other words, with the off-day scheduled for Thursday, he will be skipped in the starting rotation this week, allowing Johan Santana and R.A. Dickey to pitch both against the Braves and Phillies. It's something of a last gasp on the season for the Metropolitans.

Sat Jul 31 201022:41Takahashi strikes out 10 as Mets win
Hisanori Takahashi allowed just one run and struck out 10 batters over six innings in the Mets' 5-4 win over the D-backs.
He allowed seven hits and walked a pair. The left-hander had his last turn in the rotation skipped over even though he was stellar in his previous start, as well. Takahashi has had a handful of blowups this season, and he's probably better off in the bullpen, but he's shown to be capable of performances like this. His ERA on the year now sits at 4.28, and he will oppose the Phillies in his next start.
Tue Jul 27 201023:35Mets skipping Takahashi, using Johan instead
The Mets have decided to skip Hisanori Takahashi on Wednesday in order to use Johan Santana on regular rest.
Takahashi was excellent against the Dodgers last week, allowing two runs over seven innings in a tough-luck loss, however the Mets need to get Santana to the mound as often as possible if they have any hope to stay in the playoff hunt. Takahashi is now scheduled to make his next start on Saturday.

Sun Jul 18 201008:37Takahashi to get another start
Hisanori Takahashi will face the Dodgers Thursday in his next scheduled start.
The left-hander was knocked around Saturday night, giving up six earned runs for the third time in his last four starts. Still, the Mets, seeing as how Oliver Perez is their best alternative, will give Takahashi another shot Thursday. That said, the Mets are shopping for a starter, and the southpaw would undoubtedly be the one to lose his rotation spot if the team gets one.

Sun Jul 18 201003:32Mets' Takahashi removed in third
Hisanori Takahashi was pulled after giving up six runs in 2 2/3 innings Saturday against the Giants.
Andres Torres and Buster Posey homer off Takahashi, who was making his first start in 13 days. He hasn't turned in a quality start in a month, so it's becoming obvious who is going to be replaced if the Mets pick up a starter before the deadline.
Mon Jul 5 201016:48Mets to skip Takahashi this weekend
The Mets will skip Hisanori Takahashi in the starting rotation against the first-place Braves this weekend.
The Mets have the option of doing so with the built-in off-day on Thursday. It's hard to disagree with the plan, as Takahashi is undoubtedly the weak link in the starting rotation right now.

Sun Jul 4 201018:08Takahashi strikes out seven in win over Nats
Hisanori Takahashi held the Nationals to three runs over five innings on Sunday to pick up a win in a 9-5 affair.
Takahashi walked two and gave up five hits, but he made up for it with seven strikeouts. All three runs came on a long ball by Ryan Zimmerman. Takahashi's strikeout rate remains strong, but that he's allowed five homers over his last three starts is a red flag. He's a mediocre option with the Braves due up next.
Tue Jun 29 201022:46Takahashi gives up six runs in loss
Hisanori Takahashi was knocked around for six runs over 5 2/3 innings in a no-decison against the Marlins on Tuesday night.
He gave up all six runs in the third inning, courtesy of a grand slam by Hanley Ramirez and a two-run shot by Dan Uggla. Still, Takahashi has allowed 12 runs and four home runs over his last two starts combined. He now has a 4.91 ERA over eight starts. The bloom will come off the rose with any starter at Hiram Bithorn Stadium, but back-to-back poor outings by R.A. Dickey and Takahashi only magnify the Mets' need for another starting pitcher.
Thu Jun 24 201022:45Takahashi falls to 6-3 with loss to Tigers
Hisanori Takahashi fell to 6-3 on Thursday after allowing six earned runs in four innings to the Tigers.
Takahashi surrendered eight hits, four walks and watched his ERA and WHIP skyrocket to 3.78 and 1.40, respectively. He's looked great at times this season since moving to the starting rotation, but we'd only play him in certain matchups. Next week's outing against the Marlins could get tricky.
Sat Jun 12 201021:59Mets' Takahashi solid in win over Orioles
Hisanori Takahashi allowed only one earned run in seven innings Saturday as the Mets defeated the Orioles 3-1.
Exactly what the doctor ordered. Takahashi hasn't been the kind of starting rotation savior that the Mets were hoping he'd be, but it's clear that he is talented and capable of getting batters out state-side. Now with a 3.48 ERA, a 1.33 WHIP and 52 strikeouts in 55 1/3 innings, he is worth owning in some deeper mixed leagues.
Sat Jun 12 201013:27Manuel considers Takahasi a starter
Despite a recent set of poor starts, Mets' skipper Jerry Manuel still considers Hisanori Takahasi a starter.
That's all good and well while the Mets need a starter, but with John Maine not so very far from returning, Manuel will have a decision to make. R.A. Dickey has been effective, more so than Takahashi, and wouldn't work out of the bullpen nearly as well as Takahashi. It'll ultimately be Manuel's call to make, but if Takahashi has another tough outing on Saturday, it'll be even harder to rationalize keeping him in the rotation over Dickey or Maine.

Tue Jun 1 201001:22Mets' Takahashi hit hard by Padres
Hisanori Takahashi was tagged for six runs in four innings Monday in a loss to the Padres.
A grand slam did most of the damage, but Takahashi allowed eight hits, walked two and struck out just one in his worst showing of the year. It's still worth sticking with him in NL-only leagues for now.
Sun May 30 201008:50Takahashi to remain in Mets' rotation
Manager Jerry Manuel told the New York Daily News that he plans on keeping Hisanori Takahashi in the rotation, even after other starters come back from injury.
Takahasi was surprisingly effective in his first two starts, holding both the Phillies and Yankees scoreless over his 12 innings of work, walking just one hitter while striking out 11. Jonathon Niese's return won't change the the rotation too much, but there will need to be decisions made when John Maine returns as well. Takahashi is certainly worth watching in NL-only, but probably not yet in mixed, though a few more strong starts will make him a valuable addition there as well.

Wed May 26 201022:46Takahashi tosses six more scoreless frames
Hisanori Takahashi was impressive again Wednesday night, working six innings of shutout ball in a win over the Phillies.
Takahashi struck out six, walked none and gave up five hits. It's virtually identical to the surprising line he posted against the Yankees last week. The converted reliever has done it by pounding the strike zone and he definitely deserves to stay in the rotation when John Maine and Jonathan Niese get healthy. We don't think he has the stuff to remain relevant in mixed leagues, but he's firmly in the middle of the radar in NL-only formats.
Fri May 21 201022:40Takahashi takes tough no-decision
Hisanori Takahashi tossed six scoreless innings, but was handed a no-decision against the Yankees on Friday night.
He didn't get any run support, but this was a mighty impressive effort. Takahashi scattered five hits while striking out five and walking just one. A nice change of pace from Oliver Perez, he tossed 73 out of 101 pitches for strikes. The starting rotation isn't an area of strength right now, but Takahashi is probably the least of their worries at the moment. He's a potentially dangerous play against the Phillies next week, but he should be owned in all NL-only leagues.
Tue May 18 201009:28Takahashi to make starting debut Friday
Hisanori Takahashi will make his starting debut Friday against the Yankees.
A Subway Series opener isn't the best situation for any kind of first and Takahashi should be avoided in most fantasy formats. He has a 3.12 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP in 26 innings of relief this year for the Mets.

Tue Apr 27 201023:10Takahashi impressive in relief
Hisanori Takahashi allowed one run over 3 1/3 innings of relief in a 10-5 win over the Dodgers on Tuesday night.
He could be auditioning for a yet-to-be-vacated rotation spot. Takahashi gave up just two hits while striking out five and walking one. The veteran left-hander has a 3.77 ERA and a 21/10 K/BB ratio over 14 1/3 innings this season.
Fri Apr 23 201022:23Takahashi earns first ML win vs. Braves
Hisanori Takahashi allowed one run over three innings, earning his first major league victory against the Braves on Friday night.
He struck out seven of the 12 batters he faced. Takahashi entered the game in the fourth after John Maine was forced to leave with muscle spasms in his left (non-throwing) elbow. He could be a consideration if the Mets need a starter next week, though they could simply opt to call up Tobi Stoner once again.
