Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that the Twins were among "a few teams" in attendance at Johan Santana's bullpen session Tuesday in Fort Myers, Florida.
Santana appeared pleased with how things went, as he wrote on his Twitter account that "today was a very good day off the mound" and that he's "getting better." The southpaw isn't expected to be ready to return to the majors until late May or June and will likely have to settle for a minor league contract.

Chris Cotillo of MLBDailyDish.com reports that Johan Santana (shoulder) is "feeling better than expected" so far in his rehab.
It jibes with recent progress updates on the left-hander, as Santana began throwing off a mound last week and will reportedly audition for interested teams soon. The southpaw is coming back from surgery to repair a re-tear of his shoulder capsule, an operation that was performed last April.

Darren Wolfson of 1500 ESPN reports that Johan Santana (shoulder) will throw a bullpen session for scouts of interested teams in the near future.
While a date hasn't been set, it was announced on Friday that Santana would begin throwing off a mound this week, and appears to be ahead of schedule in his recovery to repair a torn capsule in his left shoulder. The Twins are one team that would surely be on hand for that session.

Fri Feb 7 201417:45Johan Santana begins throwing off mound
Johan Santana (shoulder) began throwing off a mound this week.
Santana revealed the news himself on Twitter, adding that he feels "great." The veteran left-hander is coming back from a second surgery to repair a re-tear of his shoulder capsule and it's uncertain when he'll be game-ready. Twins general manager Terry Ryan indicated last month that Santana wouldn't be ready to pitch until midseason, but the fact that he's already throwing off a mound suggests he could beat that timetable. The Twins and Yankees are two clubs known to be monitoring Santana's progress.

Sun Jan 26 201411:01Johan (shoulder) not expected until midseason
Twins general manager Terry Ryan revealed at TwinsFest on Sunday that Johan Santana (shoulder) isn't expected to be game-ready until midseason.
The feeling had been that Santana could be ready to go for spring training following surgery last April to repair a re-tear of his shoulder capsule. The news shouldn't come as much of a surprise, though, given that it took the lefty 19 months to return from his first shoulder operation. Ryan added that the Twins are still "keeping an eye" on Santana and that it seems like a "good fit for both of us." The Yankees are one of a handful of other clubs monitoring Santana's progress.

Andy McCullough of the Newark Star-Ledger reports that the Yankees are one of several teams monitoring Johan Santana's progress.
It's no secret that the Yankees' top target is Masahiro Tanaka (and McCullough says they might have already met with Tanaka and his representative, Casey Close), but they're keeping tabs on other options, as well. Santana, who is coming back from a second major shoulder surgery, is also drawing interest from his former team, the Twins.

According to Andy Martino of the New York Daily News, a reunion between Johan Santana and the Twins remains a very real possibility.
While the Twins haven't made the 34-year-old left-hander a formal contract offer, they continue to discuss the idea internally and have remained in contact with his representatives. Coming off another major shoulder surgery, he'll likely sign an incentive-laden deal.

Wed Dec 11 201312:45Pirates request medicals on Johan Santana
Travis Sawchik of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that the Pirates have requested the medicals of free agent left-hander Johan Santana.
The two sides are expected to meet on Wednesday at the Winter Meetings. Santana has also been drawing attention from the Mets, Yankees, Twins, Rays, Orioles, Royals and Brewers. The veteran starter underwent shoulder surgery in April, missed all of the 2013 season, and he will be 35 years old when the 2014 campaign begins. However he's an obvious high-reward candidate for a lot of teams seeking rotation depth.

He seems likely to sign a one-year, incentives-driven contract this winter.

The Mets asked if they were free agent left-hander Johan Santana's top choice, but were told that it's too early in the process to know.
At least seven teams are interested in Santana, according to Mike Puma of the New York Post. That number is probably coming from Santana's agent, Chris Leible, who said on Sunday that "seven or eight" teams had reached out to his client. Santana is coming off surgery to repair a re-tear of the capsule in his left shoulder. The veteran southpaw will surely have to settle for a one-year, incentive-laden deal.

Wed Nov 27 201310:55Johan Santana (shoulder) throwing at 90 feet
Johan Santana (shoulder) is currently throwing from a distance of 90 feet.
Santana underwent a second surgery to repair a re-tear of his shoulder capsule in April, but his agent, Chris Leible, says that his shoulder feels "way better." Still, teams might want to see him throw before signing him to a contract, so there's no clear timetable for a deal. A reunion with the Twins has been mentioned as a possibility.

Fri Nov 8 201308:49Twins have asked for Johan Santana's medicals
LaVelle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that the Twins are "one of several teams" that have asked to look at Johan Santana's (shoulder) medical information.
Santana underwent a second surgery to repair a re-tear of his shoulder capsule in April. The lefty's agent, Ed Greenberg, said doctors took a different approach to stitching the capsule this time and so far his shoulder is holding steady. Santana, who, of course, played his first eight seasons with the Twins, is throwing on flat ground from 90 feet and "feeling good," according to Greenberg. "Johan still loves Minnesota," Greenberg said. "It has created an interesting option for him. But it is in the early stages, and a lot of teams have contacted us." Neal notes that the Twins have also expressed interest in Ervin Santana, Dan Haren, Scott Feldman and Ricky Nolasco.
