Sat Aug 21 201016:18Hawkins to have shoulder surgery Friday
LaTroy Hawkins has decided to undergo exploratory surgery on his shoulder.
The procedure is scheduled for Friday and is almost certainly going to knock him out for the rest of the year. Hawkins made only 18 appearances for the Brewers this season and posted an ugly 8.44 ERA. There's a chance the surgery will help him get back to square one, but he is 37.

Fri Aug 20 201021:07Hawkins undergoes another MRI on shoulder
LaTroy Hawkins underwent another MRI on his ailing right shoulder Friday.
An MRI on Monday didn't reveal any wear and tear, however Hawkins is still considering exploratory surgery to look for the source of stiffness in the join. "We just want to be sure before we make a decision," said Hawkins. The veteran right-hander has made just 18 appearances with the Brewers this season, posting an 8.44 ERA in 16 innings. He is under contract for $4 million next season.

Tue Aug 17 201019:50Hawkins may have surgery on shoulder
LaTroy Hawkins said he will decide by Friday whether to have exploratory surgery on his right shoulder.
An MRI on Monday didn't reveal anything different from earlier this season, however Hawkins was recently placed on the disabled list for the second time this season due to shoulder weakness. The 37-year-old right-hander is still under contract for $4 million next season, so it's doubtful he'll want this situation hanging over his head.

Thu Aug 12 201010:26Brewers place Hawkins (shoulder) on DL
Brewers placed RHP LaTroy Hawkins on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 11, with right shoulder weakness.
With an 8.44 ERA over just 18 appearances this season, his two-year, $7.5 million contract looks like a rather huge mistake right now. This is his second trip to the disabled list with shoulder weakness this season.

Tue Jul 20 201015:10Hawkins joining up with AAA team Tuesday
LaTroy Hawkins (shoulder) is scheduled to join up with Triple-A Nashville for a few rehab appearances starting Tuesday night.
Hawkins made a few appearances with the Brewers' affiliate in the rookie-level Arizona League, so he should be nearly ready. On the disabled list since June 9 with a weak shoulder, he will return to a 9.26 ERA and 1.71 WHIP. We're fairly confident that will come down, but he's not a fantasy guy.

LaTroy Hawkins (shoulder) will return to the mound Thursday for the first time since getting injured, as he is scheduled to pitch one inning for the Brewers' rookie league team in Arizona.
If that goes well, the veteran will continue his rehab at Triple-A Nashville. "I don't know exactly what the schedule is, but he's going to get back-to-back days and he's going to get a two-inning stint also," manager Ken Macha said. "Hopes are that he may be back around the Cincinnati series [on July 26-28]." Hawkins has been out since early May with shoulder weakness.

Fri Jul 2 201021:30Hawkins (shoulder) a 'long way off'
Brewers manager Ken Macha said that LaTroy Hawkins (shoulder) is "a long way off" from being activated from the disabled list.
"He is a long way off," said Macha. "He is going to have to do Spring Training [style rehab] to build up his strength." Hawkins has thrown two bullpen sessions this week, but he's basically starting from scratch. He won't need as much work as a starter to get ready, but he'll require several outings in the minor leagues.

LaTroy Hawkins (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Monday for the first time since going on the disabled list in May.
"All reports were good," said Brewers manager Ken Macha. "[Pitching coach] Rick [Peterson] was very pleased. I asked [bullpen catcher] Marcus [Hanel], who caught him, and he said he had some late life, he had pretty good velocity, free and easy. A lot of positive things." He's scheduled to be re-evaluated after throwing another bullpen session Thursday.

Tue Jun 8 201015:15Brewers transfer Hawkins to 60-day DL
Brewers transferred RHP LaTroy Hawkins from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list.
Bad news for the Brewers' bullpen. Hawkins was shut down at the end of May due to joint pain in his throwing shoulder and this roster move confirms that we won't see him anytime soon.
Wed May 26 201020:56Hawkins given cortisone, far from return
LaTroy Hawkins was given a cortisone shot in his right shoulder Tuesday and admitted that he's dealing with pain, not just weakness.
Hawkins is hoping to resume throwing on Monday, but it's no sure thing. "I'm looking forward to be able to do some things -- put on my belt -- without it hurting," he said. "Then we'll start throwing a baseball." The setup man was placed on the disabled list back on May 9 and probably won't be ready to return to the Brewers' bullpen until the middle of June.

LaTroy Hawkins (shoulder) has yet to throw a pitch in rehab.
Hawkins, who has been on the disabled list since May 9, is expected to ramp up his rehab this week and possibly throw a bullpen session by Thursday or Friday. He had an ugly 9.26 ERA and 1.71 WHIP in 13 appearances for the Brewers to start the season, but that should come tumbling down once he is healthy.

Sun May 9 201000:05Brewers place reliever Hawkins on 15-day DL
Brewers placed RHP LaTory Hawkins on the 15-day disabled list with shoulder weakness.
Well, that might explain the struggles. The normally reliable Hawkins has put up an ugly 9.26 ERA and 1.71 WHIP in 11 2/3 innings (13 appearances) out of the Milwaukee bullpen this season. Hopefully the rest will help cure whatever is ailing him, whether it's shoulder weakness or shattered confidence. HAwkins inked a two, year $7.5 million contract this winter.
Fri May 7 201008:53Brewers' Hawkins 'puzzled' by velocity drop
LaTroy Hawkins, who gave up four runs in the ninth inning against the Dodgers on Thursday night, is "puzzled" by his recent drop in velocity.
Hawkins, who averaged over 94 mph on his heater last season, topped out at 92 mph during Thursday's loss and averaged just under 90 mph. "You can make mistakes if you throw hard enough. You can't make mistakes at 88-90 [mph]," said Hawkins. "If I knew what it was, I'd tell you and I'd fix it. ... It definitely doesn't put your mind at ease, that's for sure." Hawkins is 0-3 with a 9.26 ERA over 13 appearances this season.
