Wed Nov 16 202211:48Blue Jays Get Erik Swanson, Adam Macko From M's
The Toronto Blue Jays are acquiring reliever Erik Swanson and left-handed pitching prospect Adam Macko from the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday in exchange for outfielder Teoscar Hernandez. Swanson was a very reliable setup man for the Mariners last year, posting a 1.68 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, three saves, 14 holds, 70 walks and only 10 strikeouts in 53 2/3 innings. The 29-year-old right-hander now moves to the tough American League East, where he'll be a setup man for closer Jordan Romano. Macko, 21, was ranked as Seattle's No. 8 prospect by MLB Pipeline before the trade. The young southpaw will be a long-term option for Toronto's rotation down the line. He made eight starts for High-A Everett in 2022, going 0-2 with a 3.99 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, 60 strikeouts and 20 walks in 38 1/3 innings pitched.

Tue Jun 7 202210:30Erik Swanson To Make One More Rehab Outing
Seattle Mariners relief pitcher Erik Swanson (elbow) began a rehab assignment at High-A Everett this past Saturday. He is slated to make one more rehab appearance with the team before rejoining the Mariners during the team's upcoming homestand, which spans from June 10 to June 19. The right-hander has been a dependable arm out of the Mariners' pen this year. Over 13 appearances, he's pitched to a 1.29 ERA and a 0.79 WHIP while compiling three holds and converting each of his two save opportunities.

Sun Aug 1 202121:32Erik Swanson Blows Save, Takes Loss Sunday
Seattle Mariners relief pitcher Erik Swanson was given the save opportunity against the Texas Rangers Sunday, and it did not go well. He gave up three runs on three hits without recording an out, leaving him with his first blown save and first loss on the season. Swanson was in this position because both Diego Castillo and Paul Sewald had pitched on back-to-back days, and he isn't expected to receive more save opportunities. Swanson has been quite effective this year with a 1.86 ERA and 0.93 WHIP in 19 1/3 innings, but he doesn't belong on fantasy rosters.
