Sun Jul 14 2013 | 00:45 | John Lannan impressive again in no-decision |
John Lannan delivered another impressive performance in Saturday's no-decision against the White Sox, surrendering just one run on four hits over eight strong innings. |
Lannan punched out three and walked one, needing just 90 pitches to breeze through eight frames. Gordon Beckham's fifth inning sacrifice fly provided all of the damage against the veteran left-hander. He's been fantastic since returning from the disabled list, posting a 2.84 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 21/11 K/BB ratio in 38 innings. He's certainly worth a look as a matchup play in mixed leagues. |

Mon Jul 8 2013 | 22:08 | John Lannan goes eight scoreless in victory |
John Lannan shut out his old team for eight innings Monday in the Phillies' 3-2 win over the Nationals. |
That had to feel good for the left-hander, who went from an Opening Day starter in 2011 to a minor leaguer for most of 2012. Lannan has faced the Nationals twice this year and pitched well both times. Unfortunately, his ERA against everyone else is 5.40. |

Wed Jul 3 2013 | 23:24 | John Lannan knocked around by Pirates |
John Lannan was knocked around for four runs on 11 hits and three walks over five innings in Wednesday's loss to the Pirates. |
Lannan entered the fifth with a 1-0 lead, but Pedro Alvarez followed a Russell Martin RBI single with a three-run jack. Of course, the lefty had been lucky to hold the Pirates scoreless to that point, as he pitched out of jams in the first, second and third innings. He'll take a 5.15 ERA and 1.53 WHIP into next week's home start versus his former team, the Nationals. |

Lannan could have given up 10 runs and still won this one. The Phillies are actually 4-2 in his six starts, but events had conspired against him until the rout tonight. Lannan will get the Pirates next time out. |

Sun Jun 23 2013 | 16:40 | Lannan allows six runs in loss to the Mets |
John Lannan allowed six runs -- four earned -- over five innings Sunday in a loss to the Mets. |
Lannan was not sharp, yielding three walks and eight hits while throwing only 54 of his 89 pitches for strikes. He has a 5.84 ERA in 24 2/3 innings this season and seems doubtful to carry significant fantasy value at any point. The lefty will face the Dodgers next. |

Mon Jun 17 2013 | 23:00 | John Lannan decent in first start back |
John Lannan yielded two runs in five innings versus the Nationals in his return to the Phillies rotation Monday. |
That's the prototypical Lannan start. He was in line for the victory when he left tonight, but Jonathan Papelbon blew the save in the ninth. Of course, that's part of Lannan's problem; that he doesn't pitch more than five or six innings gives his bullpen more opportunities to blow leads. |

John Lannan (quad) will be activated from the disabled list to start next Monday against the Nationals. |
Lannan, out since April 17 with a strained left quad muscle, was cleared to return after he allowed two runs in seven innings Wednesday in his most recent rehab start with Double-A Reading. The southpaw isn't really an option outside of NL-only fantasy leagues, but he should do for as an innings-eater for Philadelphia. |

Wed Apr 17 2013 | 22:15 | John Lannan dealing with knee injury |
John Lannan will have his left knee examined on Thursday by the Phillies' team doctor. |
Lannan admitted that the knee bothered him during Wednesday's start, which might at least partly explain why he lasted just 1 2/3 innings while giving up six runs on eight hits and a walk. The left-hander's next scheduled start is slated to come Monday against the Pirates, but if he has to miss some time, Tyler Cloyd would be an option to fill in. |

While he'll never be a high-strikeout performer, he's worth a serious look as a streaming option in deeper mixed leagues. |

Sat Apr 6 2013 | 22:00 | John Lannan delivers quality start Saturday |
John Lannan allowed three runs in seven innings but took a no-decision in the Phillies' win over the Royals on Saturday. |
Lannan was better than the line suggests, as he didn't give up a hit until a Jeff Francoeur double in the fifth inning. In total, he allowed five hits and no walks while striking out five. He's got another potentially attractive start coming up Friday against the Marlins, but even so, he's only usable in NL-only leagues at this point. |
