Sat Jun 23 201222:26Delgado rocked as Braves fall to Red Sox
Randall Delgado couldn't make it through the second inning in Saturday's loss to the Red Sox.
Delgado surrendered two walks, six hits and four earned runs before being lifted with one out in the second inning. He's had a very up-and-down season thus far, and that trend seems likely to continue all summer.

Sun Jun 17 201216:53Randall Delgado goes eight in loss
Randall Delgado pitched eight innings in a loss Sunday, allowing two runs on three hits in Atlanta's 2-0 setback against the Orioles.
Delgado struck out six and walked one in the second eight-inning outing of his young career. The quality start was just his third since May 14. He'll bring a 4.12 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 60/37 K/BB ratio into his weekend matchup with the Red Sox in Boston. He'll be best left on your bench for that one.

Mon Jun 11 201222:16Randall Delgado wild in loss
Randall Delgado was wild in a loss to the Yankees Monday, walking six while allowing five hits and three runs over five innings.
He struck out five and allowed a longball to Raul Ibanez. Delgado showed flashes of snapping out of it last month, but he's now registered just one quality start over the last five times out. He could be on the chopping block when Kris Medlen is ready, though Mike Minor hasn't pitched well, either. Delgado will bring a 4.34 ERA and 1.43 WHIP into this weekend's start against the Orioles.

Wed Jun 6 201222:00Randall Delgado sharp in victory
Randall Delgado allowed just one run on two hits in 6 1/3 innings of Wednesday's 2-1 win over the Marlins.
He struck out seven, walked one and took a no-hitter into the fifth. Coming into this evening, Delgado had allowed at least three runs in three straight starts, failing to complete six innings of work each time. Now the owner of a 4.26 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 49/30 K/BB ratio through 61 1/3 frames, Delgado will get the Yankees at home on Monday. He'll be tested in that one.

Thu May 24 201221:41Delgado struggles in loss to Reds
Randall Delgado struggled in a loss to the Reds on Thursday, surrendering four runs on seven hits over 5 1/3 innings of work.
Delgado struck out four and walked three in the game. He was cruising along until the fifth inning, where the Reds strung together a pair of singles and a walk before Devin Mesoraco unloaded the bases and chased Delgado from the game with a grand slam. With the loss, he falls to 2-5 on the season and raises his ERA to 4.53. He'll look to put this rough outing behind him and get back on track when he takes on the Cardinals at home on Tuesday.

Thu May 3 201216:45Randall Delgado goes eight strong in loss
Randall Delgado pitched eight innings of two-run ball Thursday in a loss to the Phillies.
It seemed the offenses were exhausted after Wednesday's 15-14 game. Delgado had never lasted longer than six innings in 11 previous big-league starts. His high for this year was 5 1/3 innings. The difference today is that he went the entire game without a walk. He had walked 12 in 20 innings this season.

Sat Apr 28 201222:36Delgado hit hard by Pirates
Randall Delgado pitched poorly again on Saturday, allowing four runs on eight hits in just 4 1/3 innings against the Pirates.
Delgado struck out four and walked three in the game. He struggled with his control for most of the night, and needed 98 pitches to get through the short outing. With the loss, Delgado now sits at 2-2 with an uninspiring 6.30 ERA through his first four starts. If he continues to pitch poorly, he may be in danger of losing his rotation spot to Jair Jurrejns or Julio Teheran. He'll attempt to rebound when he takes on the Braves next week.

Sun Apr 22 201219:12Randall Delgado strugles badly in loss
Randall Delgado was knocked around for five earned runs over 5 1/3 innings as part of a loss to the Diamondbacks Sunday.
The 22-year-old Delgado continues to struggle with command. After walking four more batters in this one, his WHIP stands at 1.53 through three starts. He also hasn't gotten out of the sixth inning in any of those starts. Delgado remains one of the game's better prospects, but he's expected to lose his rotation spot to Tim Hudson before the month is over.

Thu Apr 12 201200:16Randall Delgado handles Astros
Randall Delgado held the Astros to two runs on five hits and two walks in five innings of Wednesday's 6-3 win.
Delgado struck out six, and was able to recover after allowing a first-inning home run to J.D. Martinez. He did need 89 pitches to complete his five frames, however. He'll likely need to be better going forward to hold onto the Braves' fifth rotation spot once Tim Hudson returns from his back injury.

Sat Apr 7 201212:50Delgado's start pushed back to Wednesday
Randall Delgado will make his season debut in Wednesday's game against the Astros.
In other words, Tommy Hanson will start Tuesday on regular rest. Delgado had a 7.89 ERA and 23/12 K/BB ratio over 21 2/3 innings this spring, but managed to beat out fellow rookie Julio Teheran for the fifth starter job. Tim Hudson is expected to rejoin the Braves' rotation in the first week of May.

Mon Apr 2 201216:50Delgado wins fifth spot in Braves' rotation
Randall Delgado has won the fifth spot in the Braves' starting rotation.
Delgado had a 7.89 ERA and 23/12 K/BB ratio over 21 2/3 innings this spring, so it's not like he was fantastic, but it was enough to beat out fellow prospect Julio Teheran. Tim Hudson is expected to return from back surgery by May 1, so don't go overboard with bidding in NL-only leagues.

Fri Mar 30 201221:46Randall Delgado gives up five runs
Randall Delgado gave up five runs -- four earned -- in 4 2/3 innings Friday in a loss to the Astros.
Delgado started strong, throwing three scoreless innings, but faded fast from there. He was the favorite to open the season as the Braves' fifth starter, but the team could go with Livan Hernandez there now. Delgado is 1-4 with a 7.89 ERA this spring.

Sat Mar 24 201216:08Randall Delgado tagged for eight runs
Randall Delgado was lit up for eight runs -- five earned -- in four innings by the Blue Jays on Saturday.
Delgado and Julio Teheran seem to be trying to force the Braves to put Kris Medlen into the rotation, though it's a route the team would rather not go, especially with Arodys Vizcaino already out of the bullpen mix. Delgado has a 7.94 ERA this spring, with 10 walks and three homers allowed in 17 innings. Still, he's been a bit better than Teheran.

Mon Mar 19 201216:39Randall Delgado strikes out five Cardinals
Randall Delgado yielded two runs in five innings and struck out five Monday against the Cardinals.
Delgado kept pace with Julio Teheran today and lowered his ERA to 6.92. He certainly hasn't been as impressive as hoped, but he probably has the inside track for the fifth spot in Atlanta's rotation.

Fri Mar 9 201216:48Randall Delgado gives up three runs to Mets
Randall Delgado yielded three runs -- two earned -- in three innings Friday versus the Mets.
Both Delgado and Julio Teheran were lit up by the Tigers on Sunday. Today, the Braves had both start for different split-squads. Teheran was the more impressive of the two, holding the Yankees to one run. Delgado's performance was also improved, but he hasn't helped his cause so far this spring.

Mon Sep 26 201122:42Delgado throws five solid innings
Randall Delgado held the Phillies to two runs on five hits in five innings Monday, taking a no-decision in Atlanta's 4-2 loss.
He struck out zero and walked one. He needed 82 pitches to record his 15 outs. Not a bad effort from a 21-year-old righty making just his seventh career start in the middle of a playoff race. Delgado will finish his first partial big-league campaign with a 2.83 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 18/14 K/BB ratio in 35 innings. He'll almost certainly begin 2012 as a member of the Braves rotation.

Randall Delgado earned his first major league win by tossing five shutout innings Tuesday against the Marlins.
He scattered five hits and walked two while striking out one. Delgado has a 2.70 ERA in six starts for the Braves. At the age of 21, he's making a strong case for a spot in next year's rotation.

Sun Sep 11 201109:35Randall Delgado to remain in rotation
Randall Delgado is expected to remain in the Braves' rotation, with Julio Teheran shifting to the bullpen.
The Braves had to pick one of the youngsters to stick among the starting five with Tommy Hanson and Jair Jurrjens still out, and they'll go with Delgado, who has pitched better than Teheran over one more start. He'll get the ball on Wednesday against the Marlins, while Teheran will be available out of the bullpen as early as Sunday.

Sat Sep 10 201100:25Randall Delgado again solid
Randall Delgado was excellent in his fourth major-league start on Friday, allowing just one run on three hits in five innings of Atlanta's 10-inning loss to the Cardinals.
He struck out three and walked three. Delgado has more than held his own in his three outings since August 16, and is looking like he can be safely spot-started in mixed formats down the stretch. He'll get either the Marlins or Mets at home next week.
