He'll be pitching in place of an ailing Jair Jurrjens (knee). More than likely, he'll then remain with the club through the end of the year. One of the top right-handed pitching prospects in all of baseball, Delgado has posted a 3.88 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 135/57 K/BB ratio in 139 innings between Double-A and Triple-A this season. He's allowed five runs (four earned) in 10 innings over two major-league spot starts. |

Eric O'Flaherty relieved Delgado immediately. The talented 21-year-old was allowed to throw just 74 pitches, but he put on quite a show, allowing one hit and a walk while striking out four. He got stuck with a no-decision in the extra-innings Atlanta win. This was just a spot start for Delgado, as Jair Jurrjens will come off the DL on Wednesday, but he'll most certainly be back very soon. |
