BALTIMORE (AP) — The Baltimore Orioles have put infielder Tim Beckham on the 10-day disabled list with a left groin strain.Beckham was removed from Monday night's game against Cleveland for a pinch runner. Because the Orioles were rained out Tuesday, the move is retroactive to April 24.Beckham has also been bothered by a sore Achilles tendon. On Tuesday, manager Buck Showalter said, "I'd be surprised if he's not on the DL at some point; it's just a matter of when."After being moved from shortstop to third base this season, Beckham has played well in the field but struggled at the plate. NEW YORK (AP) — CC Sabathia can earn $2 million in performance bonuses based on innings as part of his $10 million, one-year contract with the New York Yankees.Sabathia can earn $500,000 each for 155, 165, 175 and 185 innings as part of the deal announced Dec. 26. The 37-year-old left-hander pitched 148 2/3 innings in 37 starts last year, down from 179 2/3 innings in 30 starts in 2016. He has not reached 185 innings since pitching 211 in 2013.He is taking a pay cut from the $25 million he earned last year, when he went 14-5 with a 3.69 ERA in 27 starts for his best season since 2012. IF Jace Peterson led off the ninth inning Sunday with a pinch-hit triple at St. Louis and became the first Braves player to triple leading off the ninth since Bruce Benedict on Aug. 26, 1986, in a game that was also in St. Louis. Peterson has hit safely in four of his past six pinch-hit appearances and overall is 6-for-14 in that role with one homer and two RBI.
