Hill didn't start Monday after leaving the second game of Sunday's doubleheader when he fouled a ball off his left ankle. However, he's feeling much better and is expected back in the lineup Tuesday. "All things considered, we're going to give him another day, and he's available [to pinch-hit]," Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said. "I'm sure he's going to hit in the cage. And he had a pretty big knot on there. And actually he could play the field OK, but the hitting really bothered him."

Aaron Hill had a two-run homer and an RBI double to pace the Diamondbacks offense on Friday.
After struggling in the No. 2 spot in the lineup for 19 games, Hill has hit .300 with five RBI in five games as a No. 5 hitter. He'll probably stay there for a while, which isn't very good news for his fantasy value. Then again, that he hits is more important than where he hits.

It was part of a five-run rally against the Chicago bullpen that quickly lifted Arizona out of a 5-2 deficit. Hill is batting just .240/.284/.385 on the season, but he is capable of getting hot in a hurry. The D'Backs are now 6-18 in 2014.

The Diamondbacks went ahead in the ninth when Chris Withrow threw a wild pitch on an attempted intentional walk of Martin Prado, allowing the go-ahead run to score from third. The good times were short-lived, though, as Juan Uribe homered off Addison Reed in the bottom of the ninth to tie it. That was all for the scoring until the 12th, when Hill delivered the big hit. "In the last two months, it's decided to heal. My last MRI, I think it was two months ago, nothing had changed. (Hand specialist Dr. Don Sheridan) called me yesterday and said, `You won't believe this!' We didn't want to do surgery anyway, and now this definitely confirms that we won't. I was happy to hear that yesterday."

Wed Aug 28 201302:25Aaron Hill wins game for Diamondbacks
Aaron Hill delivered a game-winning hit in the bottom of the 10th as the Diamondbacks topped the Padres 10-9 on Tuesday.
Hill shot to the gap probably would have been a double under normal circumstances, though perhaps the center fielder would have run it down if he hadn't been playing in with the winning run on third. Regardless, it got the job done and denied the Padres on a night when Bud Black made 83 position switches. It was Hill's first game back after he missed two starts with a groin injury.
