"All things considered, we're going to give him another day, and he's available [to pinch-hit]," Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said. "I'm sure he's going to hit in the cage. And he had a pretty big knot on there. And actually he could play the field OK, but the hitting really bothered him." |

Hill is batting just .240/.284/.385 on the season, but he is capable of getting hot in a hurry. The D'Backs are now 6-18 in 2014. |

Hill broke the hand back on April 9 and returned to action two months later even though the bone hadn't shown any healing. "They said it's like 80 percent healed," said Hill. "In the last two months, it's decided to heal. My last MRI, I think it was two months ago, nothing had changed. (Hand specialist Dr. Don Sheridan) called me yesterday and said, `You won't believe this!' We didn't want to do surgery anyway, and now this definitely confirms that we won't. I was happy to hear that yesterday." |
