Thu Sep 8 202211:33Tyler O'Neill Scratched, Alec Burleson Making Debut
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Tyler O'Neill was scratched from the team's starting lineup on Thursday against the Washington Nationals due to undisclosed reasons. Rookie outfielder Alec Burleson is also making his major league debut in right field, and he will hit seventh in the batting order against Nationals right-hander Josiah Gray. Check back for an update on why O'Neill was scratched. Ben DeLuzio is starting in center field and hitting ninth in O'Neill's place. Burleson, the team's No. 5 prospect per MLB Pipeline, was one of the better hitters in the International League this year and slashed .332/.373/.534 with 20 home runs for Triple-A Memphis. As long as O'Neill doesn't miss extended time with an injury, though, it might be tough for Burleson to find consistent at-bats down the stretch.

Sun Aug 28 202216:22Tyler O'Neill To Sit Out On Sunday
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Tyler O'Neill is out of the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Atlanta Braves. This appears to be a regular rest day for the 27-year-old outfielder. Although, it's worth noting that O'Neill has been losing a decent amount of playing time to Corey Dickerson. In fact, Dickerson will start over O'Neill on Sunday against right-hander Jake Odorizzi. Fantasy managers shouldn't be too worried, but it is a little frustrating for anyone who has O'Neill rostered.

Sun Aug 14 202221:38Tyler O'Neill Homers Sunday
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Tyler O'Neill hit his seventh home run of the season Sunday, knocking a solo shot off Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Aaron Ashby as part of a 2-for-4 day at the plate. He scored two runs in the game. O'Neill has struggled all season, and he's been just as bad lately, though this performance inches him closer to double digits in both homers and steals, with seven and eight respectively. This isn't much consolation to fantasy managers who had high expectations after his 34 homers and 15 steals in 2021.

Wed Aug 3 202216:41Tyler O'Neill Returns To The Lineup Wednesday
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Tyler O'Neill (leg) is back in left field and is hitting fifth on Wednesday against Chicago Cubs left-hander Justin Steele. O'Neill will return to action after missing the last two games due to a leg cramp. Since the All-Star break, he's really struggled at the dish, going 5-for-26 (.192) with a homer, five RBI, six runs scored and eight strikeouts in 30 plate appearances over seven games. The 27-year-old has been a big disappointment for fantasy managers this year after he hit .286 with a .912 OPS, 34 home runs, 80 RBI and 15 steals in 138 games in 2021. This year, O'Neill is slashing .233/.298/.351 with five long balls, 33 RBI, 29 runs scored and eight stolen bases in 55 games played.

Tue Aug 2 202219:05Tyler O'Neill Remains Out Of The Lineup Against The Cubs
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Tyler O'Neill (leg) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Chicago Cubs. He left Saturday's game early with leg cramps and has been absent from the lineup since. The 27-year-old remains day-to-day. O'Neill is slashing .233/.298/.351 with five home runs, 33 RBI, 29 runs scored, and eight stolen bases in 55 games. Lars Nootbaar is batting sixth and will handle right field duties while O'Neill is sidelined. Nootbaar has collected a hit in four of his last five games and can be used as a streamer in deep-league formats while swinging a hot bat.

Sun Jul 31 202212:16Tyler O'Neill Not Starting Against Nationals
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Tyler O'Neill (leg) is not in the starting lineup on Sunday against the Washington Nationals. O'Neill left Saturday's game early with leg cramps, which is why he's out of the lineup for the series finale. For now, fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day. Injuries have limited the 27-year-old to just 55 games, and he's hitting .233/.298/.351 with five home runs, 33 RBI, 29 runs scored and eight stolen bases in 228 plate appearances. Corey Dickerson will get the start in left field and will bat eighth on Sunday against Nationals right-hander Josiah Gray. The veteran Dickerson is hitting only .209 (27-for-129) on the season with three home runs and 16 RBI, so he'll be a low-upside DFS option.

Thu Jul 14 202216:26Tyler O'Neill Activated From 10-Day Injured List
The St. Louis Cardinals have activated outfielder Tyler O'Neill (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list. Fellow outfielder Lars Nootbaar was optioned to Triple-A Memphis in a corresponding move. O'Neill missed nearly a month due to a left hamstring strain. Though he's had a disappointing season overall at the plate, he was heating up before the injury, slashing .354/.385/.521 in June. O'Neill will return to an everyday role in all likelihood, which means that we could see reduced playing time for Corey Dickerson, Juan Yepez or Dylan Carlson. Dickerson seems like the most likely player to lose out on starts with O'Neill back.

Fri Jul 8 202218:17Tyler O'Neill Has Left Wrist Contusion
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Tyler O'Neill will not be activated for Friday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies. O'Neill seemed to be on track for a Friday return but was hit by a pitch Wednesday during his rehab assignment and has a left wrist contusion. Fortunately, the wrist isn't fractured, and it doesn't sound like this will set his timeline back much. The 27-year-old five-category contributor had been heating up before his injury, with a .354/.385/.521 slash line in June to go along with two homers and three steals. He will be re-evaluated over the weekend and an update on his timeline should come soon after.

Thu Jul 7 202221:56Tyler O'Neill Could Return Friday
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Tyler O'Neill (hamstring) could be reinstated from the 10-day injured list ahead of Friday's series opener against the Philadelphia Phillies. He has been sidelined since late June with a left hamstring strain. The 27-year-old is expected to return as the team's everyday left fielder. He went 3-for-7 with a double and an RBI in two rehab games with Triple-A Memphis. O'Neill has been disappointing this season, slashing .241/.292/.361 slash line with four home runs, 28 RBI, 22 runs scored, and six stolen bases in 185 plate appearances.

Tue Jun 7 202214:57Tyler O'Neill Activated From Injured List
The St. Louis Cardinals activated outfielder Tyler O'Neill (shoulder) from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday and optioned right-hander Jake Walsh to Triple-A Memphis in a corresponding move. O'Neill will return to St. Louis after going 5-for-13 with a home run on his three-game minor league rehab assignment. The 26-year-old outfielder is hitting just .195/.256/.297 on the season with two home runs, 20 RBI, 14 runs scored and three stolen bases in 32 games, but his power/speed upside makes him worth rostering in most mixed leagues. O'Neill will return to a starting role in St. Louis' outfield, and Dylan Carlson (hamstring) should join him soon.

Sun Jun 5 202208:45Tyler O'Neill Blasts Homer In Rehab Game
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Tyler O'Neill (shoulder) appears to be getting back into a groove at the plate. On Saturday, the young outfielder went 2-for-4 with a solo home run during a minor league rehab game in Triple-A. It sounds like O'Neill is ready to return, but Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol mentioned O'Neill won't be ready until later next week. Fantasy managers should check the waiver wire and make sure O'Neill isn't sitting there.

Sat Jun 4 202212:27Tyler O'Neill, Dylan Carlson Could Return Next Weekend
St. Louis Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol doubts that outfielders Tyler O'Neill (shoulder) and Dylan Carlson (hamstring) will be ready to come off the injured list in time to join the team for their series against the Tampa Bay Rays from next Tuesday through Thursday. Both players served as the designated hitter on Friday during their minor league rehab games, and they will progress to playing the outfield this weekend. O'Neill went 3-for-5 with a double, while Carlson went 0-for-3 with a strikeout on Friday. Both O'Neill and Carlson have struggled at the plate for the Cardinals this year before their injuries, but they should both return to starting roles when they are healthy and should remain stashed in the vast majority of fantasy leagues.

Sat Jun 4 202209:13Tyler O'Neill Goes 3-For-5 In First Rehab Outing
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Tyler O'Neill (shoulder) played in his first rehab game at Triple-A Memphis on Friday. He had a strong day at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored. The 26-year-old has been on the shelf since May 17 due to right shoulder soreness. He'll likely need to play in just a few more rehab games before returning to the Cardinals. Juan Yepez and Corey Dickerson have been covering left field with O'Neill out. Upon O'Neill's return, Dickerson's playing time should take a big hit and we'll likely see the team move Yepez around the field a good amount to keep him in the lineup.

Thu Jun 2 202218:19Tyler O'Neill To Begin Rehab Assignment Friday
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Tyler O'Neill (shoulder) is scheduled to serve as the designated hitter on Friday for Triple-A Memphis to start his minor league rehab assignment. O'Neill recently visited with a doctor and has been out for two weeks with a sore right shoulder. Evidently his doctor visit went well, and he could return from the injured list at some point next week if he doesn't encounter any setbacks in the minor leagues. Despite hitting just .195/.256/.297 with two home runs, 20 RBI, 14 runs scored and three stolen bases in 32 games for the Cardinals this year, O'Neill figures to return to a regular outfield role when he rejoins the major league club.

Thu May 26 202218:19Tyler O'Neill Could Start Rehab Assignment Next Week
St. Louis Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol is hopeful that outfielder Tyler O'Neill (shoulder) will begin a minor league rehab assignment early next week. O'Neill landed on the injured list on May 19 with a right shoulder impingement, but he could be ready to return from the IL when he's eligible in early June if he can avoid any setbacks. Brendan Donovan, Corey Dickerson and Juan Yepez have been rotating playing time in the outfield with O'Neill sidelined, and infield prospect Nolan Gorman is also getting some run at the keystone for the Cardinals. Yepez (.288, four home runs) and Donovan (.333 with a homer, nine RBI and a steal) have been great pickups off the waiver wire in deeper leagues.

Thu May 19 202218:04Tyler O'Neill Headed To The Injured List
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Tyler O'Neill (shoulder) will be placed on the 10-day injured list with a right shoulder impingement. The 26-year-old was held out of action for each of the team's last two games while battling the shoulder injury. At first, it had sounded like a minor injury, but clearly it's worse than the team originally thought. It's been a rough start to the year for O'Neill, who is slashing .195/.256/.297 with two home runs, three stolen bases, 20 RBI and 14 runs over 32 games. His absence will make it easier for the team to continually slot rookie Juan Yepez into the lineup. We could also see Corey Dickerson earn some additional playing time.

Thu May 19 202211:26Tyler O'Neill Out With Sore Shoulder
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Tyler O'Neill (shoulder) was set to return to the lineup on Thursday against the New York Mets, but he'll be out for a second straight day with a sore right shoulder. O'Neill has gone 3-for-21 with 11 strikeouts in his last five contests. The slump has dropped O'Neill's season line to .195/.256/.297 with two home runs, 20 RBI, 14 runs scored and three stolen bases in 133 plate appearances over 32 games played. Fantasy managers will need to remove the 26-year-old from their starting lineups for a second straight game, and they may want to keep him benched until he gets back on track. Rookie Juan Yepez, who has gotten off to a nice start to his major league career, is in left field and is hitting fifth on Thursday against Mets right-hander Chris Bassitt.

Wed May 18 202218:35Tyler O'Neill Resting On Wednesday
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Tyler O'Neill (rest) is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the New York Mets. He was given a couple of days off recently to hopefully get over his slump at the plate. The 26-year-old is hitting .195/.256/.297 with two homers, 20 RBI this season. He'll sit out Wednesday's game and could see more "rest" days in the future. Fantasy managers should continue to hold him because of does have solid upside with the bat.

Sat May 14 202212:53Tyler O'Neill, Harrison Bader Not In Saturday's Lineup
St. Louis Cardinals outfielders Tyler O'Neill and Harrison Bader aren't in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the San Francisco Giants. O'Neill has struggled at the plate recently and is 1-for-12 with five strikeouts over his last three games. Bader will sit for the second time over the team's previous three contests. Juan Yepez and Corey Dickerson will draw the start while O'Neill and Bader are out. Yepez has been one of the top pickups in fantasy so far. The 24-year-old is locked in at the plate, hitting .382 with two homers and four RBI over nine games since being called up. As for Dickerson, fantasy managers can avoid using the veteran as a streamer after hitting .192 across 22 games this season.

Wed May 11 202216:38Tyler O'Neill Out Of The Lineup On Wednesday
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Tyler O'Neill is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against Spenser Watkins and the Baltimore Orioles. This will be the second game over a three-game stretch in which O'Neill is on the bench. Juan Yepez will be covering left field in the game with Corey Dickerson at designated hitter. O'Neill is slashing just .198/.267/.317 over 27 games this year with two home runs, three stolen bases, 19 RBI and 14 runs. With the rookie Yepez hitting a cool .455/.500/.727 over his first six MLB games, O'Neill may wind up seeing his playing time continue to drop off if he doesn't increase his production at the plate soon.
