Thu Aug 26 202101:02Edward Cabrera Efficient In His Big League Debut
Miami Marlins rookie starting pitcher Edward Cabrera was efficient in his major league debut on Wednesday against the Washington Nationals. Cabrera made it through six scoreless innings before running into trouble in the seventh inning. His final line ended up being 6 1/3 innings pitched, three runs allowed on four hits and three walks with two strikeouts. He allowed two home runs in the seventh followed by a walk that came around to score after he'd left the game. It was still a solid debut for the rookie, who ended up with a quality start but no decision. He should stick in the Marlins rotation for the rest of the season and is worth consideration in all formats.

Mon Aug 23 202111:24Edward Cabrera Will Make Wednesday's Start
Miami Marlins top pitching prospect Edward Cabrera will be called up to make his major league debut on Wednesday. Cabrera is a top-5 prospect in the Marlins system and a top-50 guy in all of baseball. He was most recently pitching in Triple-A, posting a 3.68 ERA with 48 strikeouts in 29 1/3 innings. He throws an electric fastball and has a strong slider to go with it as well. His changeup is still developing, but the 23-year-old has a very bright future and should be a fixture of the Marlins rotation for years. He needs to be rostered in all formats right now.

Fri Jul 30 202123:15Edward Cabrera Strikes Out 12 On Friday
Miami Marlins top starting pitching prospect Edward Cabrera was excellent on Friday, striking out 12 in just 4 2/3 innings for Triple-A Jacksonville. Cabrera is a top-five prospect in the Marlins system and a top-50 prospect throughout baseball on most lists. He just recently got the call to Triple-A after posting a 2.77 ERA in 26 innings at Double-A Pensacola to start the season. Cabrera misses a ton of bats and usually has pretty good control of the strike zone as well. He's got number 2 starter upside and should be up for at least a cup of coffee in September this season. He's worth a stash in all dynasty and keeper formats.

Mon Mar 1 202116:57Alcantara leads young staff that should be Marlins' strength
MIAMI (AP) — At 25, Sandy Alcantara says he's old enough to be the Miami Marlins' ace. The Marlins agree. Alcantara has pitched less than 300 innings and has a career record of 11-19, but Miami is counting on him to lead a parade of talented young starting pitchers who are considered the team's strength. “That’s what the Marlins are looking for from me, and that's what I want,” said the Dominican right-hander, who pitched two scoreless innings against the Mets in his first spring training start Monday. “There are a lot of young guys behind me. I have to show them they can be like me. “It doesn’t matter how young I am. I have experience. I've been in the big leagues for four years now.” On Miami's staff, that's a lot. The other right-handers expected to help make up the rotation include Pablo López, Elieser Hernández and Sixto Sánchez. Four pitchers are contending for the last spot — left-hander Trevor Rogers and Daniel Castano, and right-handers Nick Neidert and Braxton Garrett. Among the... [More]
Fri Feb 19 202114:53Marlins pitching prospect Cabrera sidelined with arm ailment
JUPITER, Fla. (AP) — Right-hander Edward Cabrera, one of the Miami Marlins' top prospects, will be sidelined indefinitely with an inflamed nerve in his right biceps. The team became aware of the injury earlier this winter, manager Don Mattingly said Friday. Cabrera is with the Marlins at their spring training complex but isn't throwing. “This is something we have followed,” Mattingly said. “You're always disappointed when anything sets a guy back a little bit, but he is already showing improvement and still able to do a lot of things. We feel like we'll see him at some point this year.” Cabrera, 22, was expected to contend for a spot in the rotation. He went 9-4 with a 2.23 ERA at Class A and Double-A in 2019. His major league debut might have taken place last year, but a sore shoulder sidelined him for several weeks. Marlins starter Pablo Lopez said he had Cabrera pegged for a potential breakout season in 2021. “Cabrera is always such a fun guy to watch,” Lopez said. “It's amazing to see how far he has come. I can't wait to watch him throw off the mound again, hopefully soon.” ___ More AP MLB: https://apnews.com/hub/MLB and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports
