Mon Mar 7 201118:03Betancourt stays hot as Brewers tattoo Reds
Yuniesky Betancourt went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two of the Brewers' 15 RBI in their demolition of the Reds on Monday.
Betancourt is now hitting .412 through his first 17 at-bats this spring. As long as your league doesn't have on-base percentage as a stat, you could do much worse than Betancourt if you're looking for late-round power at shortstop.

Sat Feb 19 201117:32Betancourt likely to bat sixth for Brewers
Brewers manager Ron Roenicke is leaning towards going with Yuniesky Betancourt in the sixth spot in the lineup, followed by Carlos Gomez and Jonathan Lucroy.
That's what we expected. Roenicke hasn't yet decided how he'll order the two-through-five hitters behind Rickie Weeks in the leadoff spot, but we're guessing he'll go with an alignment of Corey Hart, Ryan Braun, Prince Fielder and then Casey McGehee. Betancourt should have plenty of RBI opportunities while following that group.

Sun Dec 19 201015:02Brewers pick up Betancourt in Greinke trade
Brewers acquired SS Yuniesky Betancourt in a six-player trade with the Royals.
Getting rid of Betancourt's contract was hugely attractive to Kansas City and doing so definitely added value to this trade from their perspective. Unfortunately, they had to kick in the $2 million Betancourt will be owed as a buy-out after the 2011 season. All that said, Betancourt should be better than what the Brewers got from Alcides Escobar last season. For now, Betancourt sits atop Milwaukee's depth chart, but it wouldn't be shocking if they scoured the free agent market to bring in competition.

Yuniesky Betancourt went 4-for-4 with a three-run homer in Monday's loss to Detroit.
After a big August, Betancourt has hit the skids in September, batting .164 coming into tonight, so Monday's effort was good to see. The home run was his 16th of the season, breaking his previous career high of nine. He also has a career-high 74 RBI.

Sat Jul 17 201022:24Betancourt hits grand slam in loss to A's
Yuniesky Betancourt finished 2-for-3 with a second-inning grand slam on Saturday, but the Royals could not top the A's.
Even a blind squirrel finds a nut, we suppose. Betancourt is having yet another awful season offensively and defensively, but he nearly played the hero for the Royals on Saturday night in Kansas City. The 28-year-old shortstop is batting .263/.286/.406 with 40 RBI in 308 at-bats this season.
Fri Jun 11 201022:58Betancourt stays hot in extra-inning win
Yuniesky Betancourt went 3-for-5 with a home run and four RBI in Friday's win over the Reds.
Betancourt fittingly knocked in the winning run in the top of the 11th inning with an RBI single off Micah Owings. Yuni is having a surprisingly solid season, but his lack of speed leaves him well off the fantasy radar.
Sun Jun 6 201017:27Betancourt chips in two RBI as Royals roll
Yuniesky Betancourt went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and two RBI on Sunday.
For all the grief he takes from statistically inclined baseball fans everywhere, Betancourt is actually having a pretty decent season at the dish, batting .285/.310/.425 with 13 doubles, four homers and 23 RBI. That's fine production from the bottom of the lineup.

Thu May 27 201009:09Betancourt day-to-day with concussion
Yuniesky Betancourt (concussion) is likely to miss another day or two.
Betancourt suffered a concussion during a collision with Matt Treanor on Tuesday and was out of the starting lineup on Wednesday. "We're going to give him a day or two," said Royals manager Ned Yost. "He should be fine. The dizziness is gone, but generally after a slight concussion, it's prudent to give (a player) 48 hours and evaluate (him then)." Mike Aviles will continue to fill in.

Fri Apr 16 201023:47Betancourt has a big game in loss
Yuniesky Betancourt went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Friday's loss to the Twins.
Betancourt is off to a solid start, but we're comfortable calling it a fluke. He had four homers in 246 at-bats with the Royals last season and now has two in 37 at-bats in 2010.
Mon Apr 5 201019:24Betancourt homers in loss to Tigers
Yuniesky Betancourt hit a two-run homer in a loss to the Tigers on Monday.
And off Justin Verlander, no less. Baseball can be funny sometimes. There's been a lot of discussion about the many moving pieces and where they may fit in the Royals' lineup, but if Mike Aviles can build the proper arm strength after Tommy John surgery, we wouldn't be surprised to see him reclaim his starting shortstop job over Betancourt.
