Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com reports that the Orioles remain in talks with free agent left-hander Joe Saunders.

Sat Jan 5 201309:06Saunders still hoping for three-year deal
According to the Baltimore Sun, the Orioles are reluctant to give a three-year deal to free agent Joe Saunders.
Saunders is holding firm on a multi-year contract this offseason, and it's becoming clear he won't be getting it from the Orioles. However, that could change if he's ultimately forced to lower his demands, as GM Dan Duquette and manager Buck Showalter have stated publicly that they remain interested in bringing him back. The Mariners, Padres, Twins, Angels and Mets have also been linked as possible landing spots.

Sat Dec 29 201215:27Orioles remain in contact with Joe Saunders
MASN's Roch Kubatko reports that the Orioles remain interested in free agent Joe Saunders.
Orioles GM Dan Duquette has been in contact with Saunders, but it doesn't appear that he's any closer to signing. If Saunders isn't brought back, Baltimore could consider letting Jake Arrieta, Zach Britton, Brian Matusz, Tommy Hunter, and Steve Johnson compete for the final spot in their rotation. Kubatko believes that the Orioles would rather hold onto their first-round pick than attempt to sign Kyle Lohse.

MASN Sports' Roch Kubatko reports that the Orioles met with Joe Saunders' and Nate McLouth's representatives Tuesday.
The O's would like to bring both players back for 2013 after they performed well for them down the stretch this past season. McLouth should only require a modest one-year deal, but Saunders could be looking for as many as three years.

Thu Nov 22 201211:15O's looking to re-sign lefty Joe Saunders
According to Buster Olney of ESPN, the Orioles are looking to re-sign left-hander Joe Saunders.
Saunders, 31, registered a 3.63 ERA and 1.28 WHIP in 44 2/3 innings (seven starts) this past season for Baltimore. He's probably looking to cash in this winter, given that Jeremy Guthrie landed a three-year, $25 million contract earlier this week from the Royals. That deal should set the market for this crop of free agent starters.

Fri Oct 12 201200:33Joe Saunders terrific in Game 4
Joe Saunders allowed just one run over 5 2/3 innings in Thursday's 2-1 extra innings ALDS Game 4 win over the Yankees.
Saunders issued four free passes, but he also gave up just three hits and struck out five. Especially given the circumstances, it was a superb effort, as he rewarded Orioles manager Buck Showalter for choosing him over Chris Tillman. Saunders has now tossed 5 2/3 innings of one-run ball in both starts this postseason. The O's will give the ball to Jason Hammel in Game 5.

Wed Oct 10 201223:37Orioles pick Joe Saunders to start Game 4
Joe Saunders will start Thursday's ALDS Game 4 against the Yankees.
It's a little surprising that he was chosen over Chris Tillman, given that it was Tillman's turn to pitch and he fared so well down the stretch. Saunders probably earned the nod in manager Buck Showalter's mind, though, with his nice work against the Rangers in the Wild Card game.

Fri Oct 5 201223:59Saunders pitches well as O's top Rangers
Joe Saunders pitched well in Friday's victory over the Rangers to win the AL Wild Card, allowing just one run on six hits over 5 2/3 strong innings of work.
Saunders walked one and struck out four in the game. The only damage against him came in the first inning, when Ian Kinsler scored on a double play groundout from Josh Hamilton. Saunders weaved his way in and out of trouble all evening, allowing at least one base-runner in every inning until the sixth, but he made key pitches when necessary, including inducing three double plays. Saunders handed it over to a very capable bullpen, which has produced an astounding 75-0 record when leading after seven innings on the year.

Thu Oct 4 201216:07Saunders to start for O's in Wild Card game
Orioles manager Buck Showalter announced that Joe Saunders will start against the Rangers in Friday's Wild Card game.
Showalter was also considering Steve Johnson, but he ultimately decided to go with the veteran. Saunders has pitched well since joining the Orioles, posting a 3.63 ERA and 23/8 K/BB ratio in 44 2/3 innings over eight starts. The Rangers led the AL with a .793 OPS against southpaws this season. The Orioles figure to have all hands on deck in the do-or-die situation.

Joe Saunders held the Red Sox to three earned runs over 7 1/3 innings Sunday in an Orioles win.
Saunders fanned five batters and did not issue a single walk. It was a nice bounceback outing for the left-hander, who struggled last week against the Blue Jays. He'll finish the regular season having posted a 3.63 ERA and 1.28 WHIP in 44 2/3 innings with the O's.

Thu Sep 20 201201:32Joe Saunders solid for eight innings
Joe Saunders worked eight innings and allowed one run Wednesday versus the Mariners at Safeco.
Saunders should offer the Mariners his services for free in order to pitch at Safeco next season; it'd likely pay off in his next contract. He wasn't involved in the decision tonight, but he's 6-0 with a 1.96 ERA in 55 innings lifetime in Seattle.

Tue Aug 28 201215:50Joe Saunders to make O's debut Wednesday
Joe Saunders has been confirmed for Wednesday night's start against the White Sox.
Saunders was acquired this past Sunday from the Diamondbacks in exchange for right-handed reliever Matt Lindstrom. He had a decent set of numbers for Arizona but should remain unowned in most fantasy formats given that he's now in baseball's more offensively-inclined league.

According to Bob McManaman of the Arizona Republic, the Diamondbacks "appear to have found a trading partner" for left-handed starter Joe Saunders.
