Thu May 17 201208:46Jurrjens hammered for 11 runs at Triple-A
Jair Jurrjens was shelled for 11 runs (10 earned) Wednesday in 4 2/3 innings for Triple-A Gwinnett.
Jurrjens allowed 12 hits and two walks in the disastrous effort. He's expected to climb back to the major league level at some point this summer, but it won't be happening anytime soon. The 26-year-old right-hander can be dropped in non-keeper fantasy leagues.

Mon May 7 201219:20No timetable for Jair Jurrjens' return
Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said there's no timetable for Jair Jurrjens' return to the majors.
"It wasn't like he was going out on a rehab assignment," Gonzalez said. "Without making this sound cruel, he's a minor league player right now. He's doing his part and hopefully that continues. Nobody wants to have $5.5 million sitting down in Triple-A. When he's ready and we think he's ready." Jurrjens was sent down after posting a 9.37 ERA in his first four starts for the Braves, but he's rebounded at Gwinnett, holding a 1.80 mark in two outings. We can't imagine he'll be down there much longer if he keeps it up.

Mon Apr 30 201218:15Jurrjens solid in first start at Triple-A
Jair Jurrjens tossed seven innings of one-run ball Sunday in his first start since being demoted to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Jurrjens gave up just four hits while striking out four and walking three. He threw 54 out of 93 pitches for strikes and topped out at 90 mph on his fastball. It's a step in the right direction, though he'll need to do more to earn his way back to the big leagues. He had an ugly 9.37 and 8/10 K/BB ratio in four starts prior to his demotion.

Fri Apr 27 201220:01Jurrjens to make Triple-A start Saturday
Jair Jurrjens will make his first start for Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday.
Jurrjens was optioned to Triple-A last week after being wildly inconsistent and struggling with a 9.37 ERA through his first four starts. He'll have to regain his velocity and his confidence before he returns to the Braves' rotation.

Tue Apr 24 201208:30Braves demote struggling Jurrjens to minors
Braves optioned RHP Jair Jurrjens to Triple-A Gwinnett.
The announcement was made after Jurrjens gave up five runs in just three innings Monday night against the Dodgers. The 26-year-old right-hander now has an ugly 9.37 ERA, 2.45 WHIP and 8/10 K/BB ratio in 16 1/3 innings over four starts this season, so the Braves hope a trip to the minors will be able to get him back on track. Randall Delgado's spot in the rotation is safe for now while Tim Hudson (back) figures to come off the disabled list at some point this weekend.

Tue Apr 24 201201:12Jair Jurrjens gives up five runs
Jair Jurrjens was tagged for five runs in three innings by the Dodgers on Monday.
With Randall Delgado not really impressing, Jurrjens is likely safe for now, even with Tim Hudson coming back. Still, there hasn't been much positive to take away from his efforts. He didn't strike out a single batter while allowing nine hits tonight. Eight of those nine hits were singles and even the other was only a double, but he needs more swings and misses to succeed.

Fri Apr 20 201208:27Jair Jurrjens won't lose rotation spot
The Braves are no considering bumping the struggling Jair Jurrjens from the rotation when Tim Hudson (back) returns.
Jurrjens has been out-pitched by Randall Delgado, but it's still expected to be Delgado that gets demoted later this month. Manager Fredi Gonzalez also noted that Jurrjens' surgically-repaired knee isn't an issue. "He was out here hitting and running around earlier," Gonzalez said. "He was fine. Every pitcher goes through a little funk." We do expect Jurrjens to turn it around eventually, but he should be benched in fantasy leagues for now.

Fri Apr 13 201223:16Jurrjens hit hard in no-decision
Jair Jurrjens was not at his finest against the Brewers on Friday, allowing five runs on seven hits in five innings.
Jurrjens has really struggled through each of his first two starts this season. Although somewhat extreme, if he continues to pitch poorly, he may be at risk of losing his spot in the rotation upon Tim Hudson's return.

Sat Apr 7 201216:10Jurrjens allows three runs in loss to Mets
Jair Jurrjens yielded three runs over 4 1/3 innings in a loss to the Mets on Saturday.
Jurrjens gave up seven hits (including two homers) to go along with three walks and three strikeouts. His velocity was down a few ticks from normal, so the Mets' hitters didn't have a problem squaring him up. Even if he can avoid any problems with his knee, we're not optimistic about his chances of repeating his 2.96 ERA from last year.

Fri Mar 30 201220:50Jair Jurrjens goes seven in victory
Jair Jurrjens pitched seven innings of one-run ball to beat the Astros on Friday night.
Jurrjens owners have to be pretty encouraged about his last two starts, even if both did come against likely cellar dweller Houston. He allowed two runs over 13 innings between the two outings, lowering his spring ERA from 10.13 to 5.81. He'll next pitch on Opening Day against the Mets.

Sun Mar 25 201215:59Jair Jurrjens shuts down Astros
Jair Jurrjens found his rhythm on Sunday, holding the Astros to one run and three hits in six innings.
OK, so he was facing the 'B' squad of the team with maybe the league's worst offense. Still, Jurrjens needed this. He struck out seven and walked one in the game. Going into the day, he had a 10.13 ERA and an 8/10 K/BB ratio in 13 1/3 innings.

Thu Mar 15 201215:51Jair Jurrjens gives up four runs in loss
Jair Jurrjens surrendered four runs and nine hits in four innings Thursday against the Phillies.
Jurrjens walked six last time out. Today, he issued just one free pass, but he was knocked around pretty good, giving up six singles and three doubles. Atlanta's probable Opening Day starter has a 9.72 ERA through three turns.

Fri Mar 2 201208:49Jair Jurrjens in line for Opening Day start
Jair Jurrjens appears lined up to make the Opening Day start for the Braves.
Things obviously can change between now and Opening Day, but Jurrjens will start Monday in the Braves' third Grapefruit League game and would be in line for the April 5 start against the Mets if he got the ball every five days. Tommy Hanson would follow Jurrjens and would precede Brandon Beachy, Mike Minor and Julio Teheran or Randall Delgado. Jurrjens' 2011 season ended early due to his balky knee, but he's been wearing a brace during workouts this spring and is feeling good.

Sat Jan 21 201210:46Braves confident Jurrjens can stay healthy
Braves GM Frank Wren told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Jair Jurrjens was ''ready to pitch a week after the season was over."
The Braves listened to trade offers for Jurrjens this winter, but teams have concerns about the health of his knee after his season was cut short by a right knee injury for the second consecutive year. Earlier this month Jurrjens avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $5.5 million contract that includes potential incentives based on the amount of innings pitched. He is under team control through the 2013 season.

Thu Dec 29 201109:53Red Sox not in on Jair Jurrjens
CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman reports that the Red Sox are not in on Braves' right-hander Jair Jurrjens.
The Red Sox are currently focused on Hiroki Kuroda, Roy Oswalt, Joe Saunders and Edwin Jackson in free agency and the Cubs' Matt Garza on the trade front. Potential suitors for Jurrjens include the Orioles, Blue Jays, Rockies and Tigers. The 25-year-old right-hander earned $3.25 million this past season while posting a 2.96 ERA and 1.22 WHIP over 23 starts. He is under team control through 2013 as an arbitration-eligible player.

Thu Dec 22 201112:10Braves won't trade Jurrjens within division
Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that the Braves will not trade Jair Jurrjens within the division.
Both the Nationals and Marlins have explored possible trades for starting pitchers this winter, but this would eliminate them as possibilities. Jurrjens has also drawn interest from the Orioles, Red Sox, Blue Jays, Rockies, Tigers and Rangers, among others. The 25-year-old right-hander posted 2.96 ERA and 1.22 WHIP over 23 starts in 2011 before going down with a knee injury for a second straight season. He figures to make a little over $5 million in his second year of arbitration.

Wed Dec 14 201100:13Braves, O's discussed Jurrjens-Prado deal
Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Braves and Orioles have discussed a deal involving Jair Jurrjens and Martin Prado.
However, Rosenthal hears that it's unlikely the Braves would move both of their big trade chips in the same deal. It's worth noting that they did discuss Jurrjens and Prado with the Royals, but their asking price of Lorenzo Cain and Wil Myers was rebuffed. The Orioles likely don't have similar talent to match. Prado and Jurrjens are both under team control for the next two seasons.

Mon Dec 5 201119:28Reds 'very interested' in Braves' Jurrjens
Jon Heyman of SI.com reports that the Reds are "very interested" in the Braves' Jair Jurrjens.
The Reds are in the market for an upper level starter (isn't every team?) and appear more willing to acquire one via trade rather than free agency. The problem is that the trade chip they seem most willing to part with is Yonder Alonso, and he would be blocked in Atlanta unless the Braves are considering him a real option for the outfield. Heyman says that 10 teams are involved in trade talks with the Braves regarding Jurrjens.

Mon Nov 28 201114:40Report: Braves still open to dealing Jurrjens
The Braves are still open to trading Jair Jurrjens in the "right deal," according to Jon Morosi of FOXSports.com.
Atlanta, flush with starting pitching, would still need to be bowled over to part with the right-hander. The Royals expressed interest in obtaining Jurrjens, who registered a stellar 2.96 ERA and 1.22 WHIP in 23 starts this year, but talks stalled when the Royals refused to give up Lorenzo Cain and Wil Myers in return. In trading Jurrjens, Atlanta would be looking to add power and open up salary for a free agent shortstop.

Fri Nov 4 201117:14Royals' talks for Jurrjens and Prado hit snag
Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star writes that trade talks between the Royals and Braves regarding Jair Jurrjens and Martin Prado have "stalled."
The two sides were discussing Jurrjens, but after the Braves offered also offered Prado, the Royals refused to give up both Lorenzo Cain and Wil Myers in return. Dutton writes that they appear willing to part with the 25-year-old Cain, but not the 20-year-old Myers, who is considered one of the most promising hitting prospects in the sport. It's still very early in the offseason, so we expect talks to continue at some point.
