Thu Nov 3 201116:55Braves taking trade offers on Jurrjens, Prado
According to MLB.com's Mark Bowman, the Braves are taking trade offers for Jair Jurrjens and Martin Prado.
Atlanta would be looking to add power and open up salary for a free agent shortstop through the trades. The Royals have already expressed interest in obtaining Jurrjens, who registered a stellar 2.96 ERA and 1.22 WHIP in 23 starts this year. And many clubs will be calling about Prado, who boasts a .293/.341/.434 career batting line and can play a variety of defensive positions. This offseason could see one or two blockbuster trades.

Sat Oct 1 201110:29Jurrjens looks good in instructional league
Braves GM Frank Wren said Jair Jurrjens (knee) was "pretty dominant" and looked like "the old Jurrjens" during a five-inning start in the instructional league Thursday.
The Braves decided to go ahead and let Jurrjens make the start even though they were eliminated from the playoffs, and it sounds like the decision paid off. "He was up to 91 (mph) and looked like Jair," Wren said. "He was pretty dominant and felt good coming out. So of all the bad things the last few days, that was really a positive. He would have been in line to start on of the playoff game based on what we saw last night." It sounds like Jurrjens will be able to have a normal offseason and enter spring training at 100 percent.

Mon Sep 26 201116:59Jurrjens set for instructional lg. game Thu.
Jair Jurrjens (knee) is scheduled to make an appearance in the Braves' instructional league on Thursday.
Jurrjens threw 44 pitches over three innings in an instructional league on Saturday and seems to be making good progress from a strained right knee. The Braves have yet to rule him out as a possibility should they make the playoffs.

Sun Sep 25 201112:10Jair Jurrjens could possibly appear in NLDS
Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said there's a chance that Jair Jurrjens (knee) returns this week.
It's highly unlikely, though, and Jurrjens isn't expected to be ready for the NLDS, either. He threw three innings in an instructional league appearance on Saturday and appears to be doing better, but with the long layoff and his stamina not built up, he's simply running out of time.

Jair Jurrjens (knee) is scheduled to throw two or three innings in an instructional league appearance on Saturday.

Wed Sep 21 201116:38Jair Jurrjens (knee) won't return before NLCS
Jair Jurrjens (knee) felt "really good" after throwing a 50-pitch bullpen session Wednesday.
Jurrjens has been cleared to pitch Friday in an instructional league game, but the Braves acknowledged Wednesday afernoon that the right-hander won't be able to return to action until the second round of the playoffs -- if the Braves manage to get that far. He's been sidelined since late August because of a strained right knee.

Sun Sep 18 201111:21Jair Jurrjens to throw off mound Monday
Jair Jurrjens will test out his knee with a bullpen session Monday.
The Braves are holding out hope that Jurrjens will be ready by the first round of the playoffs but have conceded that it's not likely. Jurrjens has no structural damage in his right knee but can't seem to shake the soreness. He should be dropped in redraft leagues if you still own him.

Fri Sep 16 201118:14Jurrjens (knee) likely not ready for NLDS
Braves manager Freddy Gonzalez said Friday that Jair Jurrjens (knee) will "probably not" be ready for the first round of the playoffs.
Jurrjens is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Monday or Tuesday, but he is simply running out of time. As of now, Tommy Hanson (shoulder) stands a better chance to be ready for the first round of the playoffs.

Mon Sep 12 201121:14Jurrjens (knee) could miss the playoffs again
Jair Jurrjens (knee) talked Monday about the possibility that he could miss the playoffs for the second consecutive season.
"I'm trying to stay positive and take it day by day, but it's something that you have to check on reality too," Jurrjens said. "In a way, are you going to be able to help this team out? Every athlete is going to say 'yes.' I could say, 'Yes, I will come and pitch.' But is the guy going to help? I don't know yet. That's the thing I'm doubtful [about]." He's been out since August 30 while dealing with soreness in his right knee. He still hasn't been cleared to begin a throwing program. Jurrjens spent time on the disabled list earlier this year with a right knee strain.

Sat Sep 10 201108:49Jair Jurrjens yet to throw from mound
Jair Jurrjens (knee) has yet to throw from a mound.
Jurrjens has been limited to playing catch over the last week while dealing with soreness in his right knee. Tommy Hanson (shoulder) has moved past him as far as their timetables to return go, as he'll throw from a mound Sunday, while Jurrjens won't be able to do so until at least next week. The reality is that the Braves are hoping to get just one of the two hurlers back before the end of the regular season.

Fri Sep 2 201108:41Jurrjens won't make Sunday start
Jair Jurrjens (knee) will not make his scheduled Sunday start.
As previously reported, Jurrjens will visit knee specialist Dr. Richard Steadman this weekend. "My main concern right now is to be pitching in the playoffs," Jurrjens said. "Last year was the worst feeling, sitting on the side and not being able to perform and not being able to help the team in the playoffs." Randall Delgado is expected to start in Jurrjens' place on Sunday.

Fri Aug 26 201114:22Irene wipes out Sat./Sun. games for ATL/NYM
Saturday's and Sunday's games between the Braves and Mets have been postponed due to Hurricane Irene.
The plan was to simply move up the starting time for Saturday's game and postpone Sunday's contest, but because subways in New York are being shut down at noon, Saturday's game has been wiped out, as well. Jair Jurrjens and R.A. Dickey had been slated to pitch Saturday, with Mike Minor and Dillon Gee getting the ball Sunday.

Mon Aug 22 201123:14Jurrjens works 6 1/3 scoreless innings Monday
Jair Jurrjens worked 6 1/3 scoreless innings on Monday night, combining with three relievers for a shutout in Atlanta's 3-0 win over the Cubs.
He allowed eight hits and five walks, so he was lucky this one turned out the way it did. Jurrjens was shaky in his return from the disabled list on Wednesday, allowing five runs on eight hits in six innings to the Giants. He's struck out only two batters over those two games. Monday marked just his second quality start in his last six outings. He gets the Mets next time around.

Wed Aug 17 201122:14Jurrjens shaky in return from DL
Jair Jurrjens looked shaky in his return from the disabled list on Wednesday, allowing five runs on eight hits in six innings of a Braves loss to the Giants.
He struck out one and walked one. It's not surprising Jurrjens looked rusty after not pitching since August 1, but the non-quality start was his fourth in five outings, ballooning his ERA from 1.87 on July 6 to its current 2.84. If he stays on schedule, he'll get the Cubs in Chicago on Monday.

Wed Aug 17 201109:23Braves activate Jair Jurrjens (knee) from DL
Braves activated RHP Jair Jurrjens from the 15-day disabled list.
As expected, he'll return Wednesday to start against the Giants. Jurrjens has been sidelined since August 1 due to a right knee strain. While he'll get a promising matchup in his first start back, keep in mind that he hasn't pitched in over two weeks and has a 6.26 ERA over four starts since the All-Star break.

Tue Aug 16 201109:14Jurrjens (knee) feeling 'rested, recharged'
Jair Jurrjens (knee) told reporters Monday that he's feeling rested and recharged.
Jurrjens hit the disabled list in early August with a strained right knee, and is on track to return Wednesday against the Giants. He thinks the 15 days of rest will help him get back to dominance. "This is the best I've felt this year," the right-hander said. "You can see the 15 days was a good idea. We didn't want to do it, but sometimes you need to be smart and not let the leg be a big thing." Jair has a 2.63 ERA in 20 starts this season and remains a must-start.

Sat Aug 13 201108:36Jair Jurrjens to return when eligible
Jair Jurrjens (knee) remains in line to return from the disabled list to start on August 17.
That's the first day he's eligible. The fact that Jurrjens spent only the minimum amount of time on the DL due to a problem with the same knee he had surgically repaired is a good sign, but hopefully he doesn't have more issues going forward. Jurrjens' return bumps Mike Minor from the rotation.

Sun Aug 7 201108:25Jair Jurrjens expects to return when eligible
Jair Jurrjens (knee) expects to return from the disabled list when eligible.
That's good to hear. The fact that Jurrjens underwent surgery on the same knee last year had people worried that he might be out for a while, but it appears as though he and the Braves are just being cautious. With the move made retroactively, Jurrjens will be eligible to return on August 17 and might be in line to start that following day. "I didn't have the strength to stay back and stay over the mound and push off like I wanted to," Jurrjens said. "I'm going to take this time to strengthen it and I'll be out there in like nine days."

Sat Aug 6 201115:04Jair Jurrjens lands on DL with knee injury
Braves placed RHP Jair Jurrjens on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 2, with a right knee strain.
This one comes out of nowhere. Jurrjens underwent surgery on the knee last October to repair a torn meniscus, and evidently he's having problems with the knee again. Perhaps it explains why he was so awful in his last outing, giving up five runs over five innings. It's not clear at this point how much time he'll miss. Mike Minor has been promoted and will take Jurrjens' spot in the rotation.

Wed Jul 27 201123:05Jurrjens holds the Pirates to 1 run on 6 hits
Jair Jurrjens held the Pirates to one run on six hits in seven innings of work on Wednesday evening, but took a no-decision in the victory.
He struck out only four batters while walking three and giving up a home run. He came into the game having surrendered 10 runs over his last two starts, so this definitely constitutes as progress. The righty will bring a 2.38 ERA and 1.12 WHIP into his next outing against the Nationals.
