Batista was predictably awful this spring, posting a 9.00 ERA and 2.71 WHIP over six appearances. The 42-year-old might be able to catch on with a minor league deal somewhere, but he's not going to make any sort of impact in 2013. |

ESPN's Enrique Rojas reports that the Rockies have agreed to a minor league contract with Miguel Batista. |
Terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed. The 41-year-old right-hander will receive an invitation to major league spring training as part of the deal. With as abysmal as the Rockies pitching staff was in 2012, he stands a decent chance of making the team either as a starter or reliever. |

Sat Jan 19 2013 | 16:06 | Miguel Batista has decided to pitch in 2013 |
Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that Miguel Batista has decided to pitch in 2013, and will make a decision soon on which of four interested teams to pitch for. |
The 18-year veteran is coming off a disappointing 2012 season in which he posted a 4.61 ERA and 1.73 WHIP over 52 2/3 innings between the Mets and Braves. His veteran leadership could play well in a swingman role for teams searching for bullpen depth, but he won't be a factor in fantasy leagues. |

Batista was pretty terrible, allowing five hits and three walks while striking out two. The Mets went with Batista over prospect right-hander Matt Harvey for Saturday's start, but there's a non-zero chance this was his final appearance with the team. Harvey should be up with the big club soon at the very least. |
