Sat Nov 13 201018:12Marlins acquire RHP Webb from Padres
Marlins acquired RHP Ryan Webb and RHP Edward Mujica from the Padres for outfielder Cameron Maybin.
Webb throws 95 mph and is an extreme groundball pitcher, so if he comes up with a better slider, he could turn into a fine closer for Florida. He's the prize in this deal for Florida. Maybe he won't get saves right from the start of next year, but he'll be a fantasy sleeper.
Sat Nov 13 201016:56Marlins to get Webb, Mujica from Padres
Fanhouse's Tom Krasovic reports that the Marlins will pick up relievers Ryan Webb and Edward Mujica from the Padres for Cameron Maybin.
So, the Marlins now have four relievers to show for the Miguel Cabrera-Dontrelle Willis trade with the Tigers: Burke Badenhop (a product of the original deal), Dustin Richardson (who was acquired from the Red Sox for Andrew Miller yesterday), Webb and Mujica. Webb could potentially turn into a closer for the Marlins, but this is still an awfully risky trade for Florida. They need to gamble on exciting young position players, not trade them for setup men.
