Tue Sep 7 2010 | 10:11 | Angels add catcher Hank Conger from AAA |
Angels purchased the contract of C Hank Conger from Triple-A Salt Lake. |
Conger, 22, is a highly thought of catching prospect and is likely to see a decent amount of playing time down the stretch for the Angels. He put up a .300/.385/.463 batting line, 11 homers and 49 RBI in 387 at-bats this season at the Triple-A level. AL-only leaguers should keep tabs on him. |
Tue Jul 20 2010 | 10:39 | Angels prospect Conger out due to shoudler |
Angels catching prospect Hank Conger was pulled from a Triple-A game Monday after injuring his throwing arm on a swing. |
Conger played in the Futures Game in mid-July and is batting .265/.362/.389 with five home runs and 27 RBI in 257 at-bats for Triple-A Salt Lake. He's had shoulder troubles for most of his career, though, and may need to be moved off catcher. First base seems like a better spot. |

Fri Apr 16 2010 | 14:42 | Angels prospect Conger hits two homers |
Triple-A Salt Lake's Hank Conger hit his first two homers of the year on Thursday. |
Conger's bat remains promising, but he's not even the defensive catcher that Mike Napoli is, so one wonders if he'll ever have a role in Anaheim. It's too bad, because he'd likely be further along offensively if the Angels moved him off catcher a few years ago. |
