Wed Jul 30 201423:42Blanco 3-3 with two RBI Wednesday in 7-5 win over Pirates
Blanco went 3-for-3 with two RBI Wednesday in a 7-5 win over the Pirates.
Blanco has seen his average climb from .216 to .245 since July 9, but it might be too late for him to avoid a platoon partner if the Giants swing a deal before Thursday's trade deadline.
Thu Jul 3 201419:10Gregor Blanco gets two hits in loss to Cards
Gregor Blanco went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Thursday's loss to the Cardinals.
The Giants surely wish Blanco would have had a game like this when he was still hitting leadoff, but they'll take it from the No. 8 spot. The nice day elevates the outfielder's batting line this season to a still-horrid .236/.311/.303.

Fri Oct 5 201218:53Blanco will start in left field on Saturday
Gregor Blanco will be the Giants' starting left fielder for their playoff opener against the Reds on Saturday.
This news isn't terribly surprising as Blanco has gotten the call against most right-handed hurlers while Xavier Nady generally takes on southpaws. He hit just .244/.333/.344 with five homers and 34 RBI during the regular season.

Mon Sep 17 201219:47Gregor Blanco shooting for Wednesday
Giants manager Bruce Bochy said he's hoping to have Gregor Blanco (shoulder) back in the lineup Wednesday.
Blanco reported improvement with his sore left shoulder Monday, but he's sitting out his second straight game and is expected to miss a third, as well. Xavier Nady is handling left field against Jhoulys Chacin and the Rockies.

Sat Aug 25 201219:33Gregor Blanco plates two in loss to Braves
Gregor Blanco hit a pinch-hit two-run double in a losing effort against the Braves on Saturday.
Blanco came off the bench in this one, but has seen a recent increase in playing time due to Melky Cabrera's suspension. He's hitting just .241 on the year with five homers and 31 RBI, but he has also stolen 19 bases. The 28-year-old is worth a look as a speed option over the final six weeks of the season.

Wed Aug 15 201219:34Gregor Blanco to get most of time in LF
Giants manager Bruce Bochy indicated after Wednesday's game that Gregor Blanco will likely see most of the playing time in left field following Melky Cabrera's suspension.
Blanco started Wednesday in Cabrera's place and got two hits, driving in one run. He's batting just .236/.331/.346 on the year but does have 19 steals, so he could churn out some value in deeper leagues. It's possible the Giants could look for help outside the organization.

Wed Aug 1 201200:53Gregor Blanco goes hitless for Giants
Gregor Blanco went 0-for-3 with a walk Tuesday, dropping his average to .242.
The slumping Blanco figures to lose much of his playing time to Hunter Pence, or at least once Angel Pagan is over his bruised fingers. Blanco hit just .196 in 61 at-bats for the month of July.

Sat Jun 23 201202:00Gregor Blanco leads Giants past A's
Gregor Blanco delivered a go-ahead single in the top of the ninth as the Giants beat the A's 5-4 on Friday.
The two-run single gave the Giants a 5-3 lead, allowing them to withstand Josh Reddick's solo homer in the bottom of the ninth. Blanco ended the day 2-for-4 with three steals. He's definitely slowed down at the plate -- he entered the night in a 1-for-20 skid -- but the Giants seem prepared to stick with him in the leadoff spot.

Wed Jun 6 201221:44Gregor Blanco hits one out
Gregor Blanco went 2-for-5 with a homer and two runs scored in Wednesday's win over the Padres.
Blanco now has a pair of longballs this year, which is the same number he had in his career entering the season over 705 at-bats. But, while he's been a spark at the top of the Giants' order, it's dangerous to continue to rely on him in fantasy.

Tue May 15 201219:56Bochy says Gregor Blanco is his right fielder
Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Tuesday that Gregor Blanco is his starting right fielder.
It's pretty obvious at this point, as Blanco has started each of the last four games in right while also batting leadoff. He's coming off two straight multi-hit games and has a nice .286/.379/.411 batting line overall this season with a homer and three steals. Blanco has some plate discipline and speed, which helps make up a bit for his lack of pop, but don't consider him more than a cheap speed option in fantasy leagues. Nate Schierholtz has started just one of the last seven games, while Aubrey Huff has yet to make a start since being activated from the DL a week ago.

Thu May 3 201218:54Gregor Blanco reaches four times
Gregor Blanco went 3-for-3 with a walk and scored both Giants runs in Thursday's game.
Blanco is supposed to be the Giants' fifth outfielder, but don't be surprised if he's a regular for the next week or two at least. He's one of the team's few hitters getting the job done right now.

Mon Mar 19 201223:22Gregor Blanco expected to make Giants' roster
Andrew Baggarly of CSNBayArea.com writes that it would take a "cataclysmic event to keep" Gregor Blanco off the Giants' Opening Day roster.
Blanco, formerly of the Braves and Royals, is batting .444 (16-for-36) with two doubles, three RBI and a 7/5 K/BB ratio so far this spring. The 28-year-old outfielder also leads the majors with seven stolen bases. Giants' manager Bruce Bochy has called him the best player in camp, so we know which way he's leaning.

Thu Mar 15 201204:46Blanco making case for roster spot
Gregor Blanco went 1-for-3 with a run scored in Wednesday's tie game against Cleveland.
While spending most of his 10-year career in the minors, the 28-year-old is making a case for a bench spot on the Giants' Opening Day roster. He has 13 hits and five walks (as well as five strikeouts) in 26 official at-bats. He is also leading the majors with six steals in seven attempts.

Thu Mar 8 201218:11Gregor Blanco has a big day
Gregor Blanco went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, a walk and two stolen bases in Thursday's win over the Padres.
Blanco is trying to earn a bench spot with the Giants on a spring training invite, and he'll be well on his way to doing so with more afternoons like this. With speed and the ability to play all three outfield positions, he doesn't make for a bad reserve.

Wed Nov 16 201111:46Giants sign OF Gregor Blanco to minors deal
Giants signed OF Gregor Blanco to a minor league contract.
The deal was announced by Blanco's agency, Octagon Baseball. The 27-year-old outfielder spent the entire 2011 season at the Triple-A level, batting .201/.350/.327 with three home runs, 14 RBI, 24 stolen bases and a .676 OPS over 252 plate appearances between the Royals and Nationals organizations. He has experience playing center field and also knows how to draw a walk, so it wouldn't be surprising if he cracked the Opening Day roster.
