Murphy batted .318 with three homers and 16 RBI in 44 at-bats for the Marlins this season. The Fish are aware that some of that was luck, but they should give him a shot at a utility job next spring training.

Murphy had season-ending surgery on his wrist Thursday. He finished 2010 with slash stats of .318/.248/.705, which should give him a leg up on a utility job next season.

Donnie Murphy underwent season-ending surgery Thursday on his right wrist.
Murphy dislocated the wrist while making a tumbling catch in Wednesday night's victory over the Nationals. He finished 2010 with an intriguing .318/.248/.705 batting line, three homers and 16 RBI over 44 at-bats. The 26-year-old should have no trouble landing a utility infield job next season.

Donnie Murphy has been diagnosed with a dislocated right wrist.
That'll do it for his 2010 season. Murphy, 27, turned in a .318/.348/.705 batting line, three home runs and 16 RBI over 44 at-bats this season for the Marlins. He was injured making a diving catch Wednesday.

Donnie Murphy left Wednesday's game with an apparent wrist injury.
Murphy made a fantastic tumbling catch in the fourth inning but may have jammed or bruised something near his right hand or wrist. Emilio Bonifacio came on as his replacement at second base.

Tue Jul 20 201001:04Marlins' Murphy hits walkoff homer
Pinch-hitter Donnie Murphy hit a walkoff homer off Huston Street in the bottom of the ninth to give the Marlins a 9-8 win over the Rockies on Monday.
Murphy, back in the majors for the first time since 2008, when he was a teammate of Street's in Oakland, hit the homer in his fourth at-bat as a member of the Marlins. He's yet to get a start in 16 days since his callup, but maybe this will earn him one.

Marlins purchased the contract of INF Donnie Murphy from Triple-A New Orleans.
Murphy can handle shortstop, second and third base and has a bit of pop in his bat, with 12 homers in 205 Triple-A at-bats this year. He replaces Brian Barden on the roster but doesn't figure to see much playing time.
