Francoeur went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Wednesday's win over the Red Sox. |
The home run was Francoeur's first in the majors since June 16, 2013. He could find himself back in the lineup Thursday as the Phillies are currently going with their reserves in right field while Domonic Brown is on the disabled list. |
Wed Apr 8 2015 | 16:16 | Francoeur will start in right field Wednesday against Red Sox |
Francoeur will start in right field Wednesday against the Red Sox, Ryan Lawrence of the Philadelphia Daily News reports. |
Francoeur remains on the roster as a veteran presence largely in a bench role. However, he will start for the club Wednesday against the Red Sox, though his stay in the lineup will likely be temporary. |
Sun Apr 5 2015 | 14:15 | Francoeur had contract selected by Phillies on Sunday |
Francoeur had his contract selected by the Phillies on Sunday, MLB.com's Todd Zolecki reports. |
Francoeur was able to earn a job as a reserve outfielder, despite hitting .227 with 11 strikeouts in 44 at-bats this spring. Even with Domonic Brown (Achilles) on the disabled list to start the year, he'll have to compete with fellow veteran Grady Sizemore for reps in the Philadelphia outfield. |
Sun Mar 22 2015 | 17:26 | Francoeur (oblique) 1-4 in return to lineup Sunday |
Francoeur (oblique) went 1-for-4 in his return to the lineup Sunday. |
Francoeur missed a week with soreness in his left oblique. He remains in the mix for a bench job, and could see more of an opportunity if Domonic Brown has to miss time at the start of the regular season with his Achilles injury. |

Francoeur was scratched from the lineup Saturday due to mild soreness in his oblique, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. |

The Phillies have Francoeur working on cutting down his swing this spring, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports."He's really buying into the simple approach that we're talking about - line drives and swinging down at the baseball," manager Ryne Sandberg said. |
Francoeur signed a minor league contract with the Phillies this winter. He has been working with Charlie Manuel, who is in camp as a guest hitting instructor. Francoeur has a decent chance at earning a bench job with the Phillies thanks to his defense. It also does not hurt that he hits right handed, as the Phillies could use another righty on their roster. |
Thu Nov 13 2014 | 12:28 | Francoeur signed minor league deal with Phillies |
Francoeur signed a minor league deal with the Phillies, which includes a spring training invite, on Thursday, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports. |
Francoeur spent last season with the Padres organization, appearing in 10 major league games and 115 Triple-A contests. The 30-year-old found success at Triple-A El Paso, hitting .289/.320/.450 with 69 RBI and 15 home runs in 456 at-bats. However, in 24 at-bats for the Padres, he notched only two hits while striking out seven times. He'll look to use this opportunity with the Phillies to rejuvenate his once-promising career. |

Francoeur cleared waivers and will be outrighted to Triple-A El Paso. |
It seems Francoeur is content to play out the rest of the season in the minors, knowing a major league opportunity likely wouldn't be available elsewhere. The 30-year-old went just 2-for-24 in 10 games with the Padres before being designated for assignment Monday. |

Francoeur was designated for assignment Monday. |
The Padres recalled Rymer Liriano, perhaps the top position prospect in the farm system, and thus had no more use for Francoeur in the outfield. It's a bit of a surprise that he has been able to hang on this long, and his .083/.179/.083 slash line in 10 games with San Diego will probably allow him safe passage through the waiver process, leaving him with the option of going back down to Triple-A or becoming a free agent. Either way, he holds little-to-no fantasy value at this moment. |
Thu Jul 24 2014 | 01:14 | Jeff Francoeur drives in run in debut |
Jeff Francoeur went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a walk as the Padres' right fielder in his debut Wednesday. |
Francoeur has a history of getting off to hot starts with his new teams, though that never materialized in his last major league stint with the Giants last year. We'll see what happens this time around. He's worth owning in NL-only leagues with Cameron Maybin out. |

Wed Jul 23 2014 | 13:21 | Veteran OF Jeff Francoeur called up by Padres |
Padres purchased the contract of OF Jeff Francoeur from Triple-A El Paso. |
Francoeur has batted .294 with 15 homers and a .790 OPS at El Paso this season and has also done some pitching, posting a 4.26 ERA and 4/3 K/BB ratio over 6 1/3 relief innings. It would be fun to see him get some work on the mound with San Diego, but most -- if not all -- of Frenchy's playing time figures to come as an outfielder. He can be ignored in fantasy leagues. The Padres have yet to announce a corresponding move. |

Wed Jul 23 2014 | 11:56 | Padres to call up Jeff Francoeur |
MLB.com's Peter Gammons reports that the Padres are expected to promote Jeff Francoeur from Triple-A El Paso. |
Frenchy has batted .294 with 15 homers and a .790 OPS at El Paso this season and has also done some pitching, posting a 4.26 ERA and 4/3 K/BB ratio over 6 1/3 relief innings. He figures to be used mostly -- if not exclusively -- as an outfielder with the Padres. It's a nice story, but Francoeur doesn't have any fantasy value. |

He'll report to the club's minor league camp on Wednesday. Francoeur was cut loose by the Indians earlier this week even though he hit .286/.359/.429 with a homer and 10 RBI during Cactus League play. He'll provide the Padres with some outfield depth in the minors. |

Indians released OF Jeff Francoeur. |
The 30-year-old had a relatively solid spring, slashing .286/.359/.429 with a homer and 10 RBI. With the lack of quality outfield depth around the league, there's a chance that other teams would be willing to take a shot on Francoeur still. |

Mon Mar 3 2014 | 19:12 | Francoeur goes 2-for-3 with two RBI |
Jeff Francoeur singled twice, scored a run, and drove in a run in three at-bats Monday against the Indians. |
Francoeur was a non-roster invitee after signing a minor league deal back in January. He is only 30 years old, but he has been ineffective with the bat over the last two seasons. Francoeur is fighting to keep his big league dreams alive, attempting to grab a spot on the Indians' bench as a back-up outfielder. |

Mon Jan 6 2014 | 19:23 | Indians sign Jeff Francoeur to minors deal |
Indians signed OF Jeff Francoeur to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. |
The deal had been reported by ESPN's Jerry Crasnick to be close, and now the Indians have made it official. Francoeur batted just .204/.238/.298 last season for the Royals and Giants but is a career .285/.335/.465 hitter versus left-handed pitching. He'll compete for a bench job in spring training. |

Mon Jan 6 2014 | 18:44 | Francoeur close to minors deal with Indians |
ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that the Indians are close to signing Jeff Francoeur to a minor league contract. |
The deal will obviously include an invitation to spring training, where Francoeur would compete to win a bench job. He shouldn't have trouble cracking the Opening Day roster given the Tribe's left-handed hitting-heavy outfield. Frenchy batted a hideous .204/.238/.298 last season for the Royals and Giants but is a career .285/.335/.465 hitter versus southpaws. |

Mon Dec 9 2013 | 11:34 | Francoeur hoping to find backup OF job |
Jeff Francoeur recently underwent LASIK surgery and is hoping to join a team as a backup outfielder. |
Francoeur was released by the Giants in August and failed to attract interest from other clubs, so he'll likely have to settle for a minor league contract this winter. The 29-year-old has hit .226/.272/.354 in 859 plate appearances since the start of the 2012 season. |
