Fri Aug 3 201210:49Jeff Francoeur to return to lineup Friday
Jeff Francoeur will return to the lineup Friday after receiving four straight days off.
Francouer has just two hits in his last 26 at-bats and has been arguably the worst regular in baseball this season with a .238/.275/.366 batting line. Jarrod Dyson has been filling in for him, and Royals manager Ned Yost said it's possible the two could be used as a platoon. "The thing about this game is, in order to be successful, you have to be productive," Yost said. "If the production is not there, then yeah, it could become a platoon situation. I don't think we're there yet."

Sun Jul 29 201214:51Jeff Francoeur could sit a few days
Royals manager Ned Yost said he might sit Jeff Francoeur for a few days.
Frenchy isn't hurt but simply isn't hitting. Lorenzo Cain is in right field Sunday, with Jarrod Dyson handling center. The Wil Myers era should begin before long.

Sat Jun 23 201217:40Royals waffling on whether to trade Francoeur
The Royals interest in trading Jeff Francoeur has "waxed and waned in recent weeks," according to FOX Sports' Jon Morosi.
"Back and forth, every other week," an opposing club official told Morosi. Top prospect Wil Myers is seemingly ready for a jump to the bigs, but apparently KC is reluctant to move Frenchy while they are just 5 1/2 games out of first place. Francoeur inked a two-year, $13.5 million extension last August.

Sat Jun 16 201200:40Francoeur drives home two to lead Royals
Jeff Francoeur went 1-for-3 on Friday with a pair of RBI, leading the Royals to a 3-2 victory over the Cardinals in St. Louis.
Francoeur smacked an RBI single to center in the third inning, then added a sacrifice fly in the seventh that would stand as the winning run in the game. While he's nowhere close to the illustrious numbers he posted a season ago, Frenchy has still been somewhat of an asset in fantasy leagues, hitting .275 with five homers, 18 RBI and just one steal to this point.

Sun May 27 201217:09Jeff Francoeur homers again in win
Jeff Francoeur went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's win over the Orioles.
After going homer-less through his first 31 games this season, Frenchy has gone deep five times since May 13. The power surge has upped his line from .233/.287/.308 to a much more palatable .281/.323/.455. He's a perfectly fine fourth outfielder in mixed leagues.

Sun May 13 201217:54Jeff Francoeur finally homers in 9-1 win
Jeff Francoeur went 2-for-5 with his first home run in Sunday's win over the White Sox.
Frenchy tagged Nate Jones for an eighth-inning solo shot. Francoeur is batting just .240/.291/.336 after signing a two-year, $13.5 million extension last August, but the Royals haven't given any indication they plan to bench their right fielder despite Wil Myers' hot-hitting in the minor leagues. Fantasy owners should have done so long ago in mixed leagues, however.

Thu Mar 29 201219:23Jeff Francoeur hits first spring homer
Jeff Francoeur doubled and ripped a three-run homer Thursday against the Angels.
It was Frenchy's first longball of the spring in 59 at-bats, though he has doubled seven times. Francoeur put together a 20/20 season last year, and although we don't see him reaching 20 steals or hitting .285 again, he could approach 20 longballs.

Fri Sep 23 201122:54Francoeur reaches 20 home runs in win
Jeff Francoeur reached 20 home runs for just the second time in his career on Friday, taking Zach Stewart deep for a two-run bomb in the fifth inning of Kansas City's rout of the White Sox.
Francoeur homered 29 times in his first big league season in 2006. Now batting .286/.331/.479 with only five games left to go, it's getting increasingly harder to snicker at Francoeur's two-year, $13.5 million contract extension. Of course, that could change in a hurry next April.

Wed Sep 7 201101:33Francoeur goes 3-for-5 with a homer in win
Jeff Francoeur went 3-for-5 with a homer, a stolen base and two runs scored in the Royals' 7-4 win over the A's on Tuesday.
Francoeur has homered twice this month after he went almost a month without hitting a longball to end August. Frenchy has at least one extra-base hit in four of five games played in December. He's batting .284/.331/.471 with 17 homers, 77 RBI and 20 stolen bases, part of a breakout season which earned him a two-year, $13.5 million extension last month.

Thu Sep 1 201117:21Jeff Francoeur hits first homer since Aug. 6
Jeff Francoeur went 3-for-5 with a homer and three RBI in the Royals' 11-8 win over the Tigers on Thursday.
The Royals played the Tigers awfully well, winning two out of four in Detroit and losing the other two games by just one run apiece. Francoeur's homer today was his first since Aug. 6. Still, while the longballs haven't been there lately, he's maintained his average in the .270-.280 range and continued to hit plenty of doubles.

Fri Aug 26 201115:03Jeff Francoeur back in lineup
Jeff Francoeur (calf) is in Friday's lineup.
Francoeur had to be removed from Thursday's game after being hit on the calf by a pitch, but he wound up not missing any starts. The owner of a new two-year deal, Frency is batting .281/.333/.464 with 15 homers and 19 steals this season.

Fri Aug 26 201110:52Jeff Francoeur leaves after HBP
Jeff Francoeur had to leave Thursday's game in the ninth inning after being hit on the calf by a pitch.
Francoeur stayed in to run but was then replaced in right field in the bottom of the inning. He's hoping to be back in the lineup Friday. "To be honest," Francoeur said, "I got lucky because it hit only about 20 percent of my shin and 80 percent of the calf muscle. If it had hit me square in the shin, I'd have been lights out. I'd be in a Toronto hospital."

Wed Aug 24 201105:31Francoeur collects four hits in win
Jeff Francoeur went 4-for-5 with a run scored, helping to lead Kansas City to a 6-4 win over Toronto.
This was his first four-hit performance since September 26 of last year. It also marked his fifth multi-hit effort in his last 10 games, lifting his average to a healthy .280.

Thu Aug 18 201113:37Francoeur to make $13.5M over two years
According to Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star, Jeff Francoeur's two-year deal with the Royals is worth $13.5 million.
Cue the outrage, as Dayton Moore has rewarded Francoeur handsomely for putting together a surprisingly productive season. The 27-year-old outfielder is batting .278/.328/.465 with 15 homers, 66 RBI, 19 stolen bases and a .793 OPS over 509 plate appearances. He is also playing above-average defense in right field. This isn't going to kill the Royals' franchise in the long-run, but we can think a few better ways to spend $13.5 million.

Wed Aug 17 201104:14Francoeur helps lead offense with three hits
Jeff Francoeur was 3-for-4 with a run and two RBI in the Royals' 9-7 setback on Tuesday.
Francoeur is enjoying a very solid season, batting .278 with 15 homers, 35 doubles, 66 RBI, and 19 steals. Having hit safely in 12 of 13 games, the 27-year-old is on his way to a terrific comeback season.

Fri Jul 22 201115:24Report: Red Sox look into Francoeur
The Red Sox have had "exploratory" talks with the Royals regarding Jeff Francoeur.
The Red Sox appear to be one of Carlos Beltran's main suitors, but if they decide to aim lower, Francoeur could be a part of a pretty decent right field platoon with Josh Reddick. It doesn't seem terribly likely, however.

Sun Jul 17 201117:10Frenchy has nice afternoon
Jeff Francoeur doubled and homered in Kansas City's loss to the Twins on Sunday.
He drove in two of the Royals' three runs. Francoeur has rebounded in July after batting just .235 in June, hitting .296 to go along with two home runs and 11 RBI through his first 14 games played.

Fri Jul 15 201114:16Royals unlikely to trade Cabrera, Frenchy?
ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that the Royals are seeking "near ready" starting pitching in exchange for Melky Cabrera and Jeff Francoeur.
Not surprisingly, Crasnisk says the two outfielders are unlikely to go anywhere, as the Royals probably aren't going to get what they want. We can't imagine they seriously think they're going to get a real impact arm for either player, but at this time of the year, you have to take everything with a grain of salt. Francoeur, for what it's worth, said he wants to remain in Kansas City.

Mon Jul 4 201121:58Francoeur hits two-run homer
Jeff Francoeur hit a two-run homer in Kansas City's loss to the White Sox on Monday.
He tagged Mark Buehrle in the first inning. Francoeur now has eight RBI in his past three games after driving in just 15 runs in all of June. Frenchy's still pretty much just the same old Frenchy this season, but in a year where power is hard to come by, he's not a bad mixed-league own.
