Victorino was in noticeable pain after crashing into the right field fence at Fenway Park in Friday's game against Baltimore, but manager John Farrell said he's fine, the Boston Globe reports.
Victorino was pinch-hit for in the next inning, but Farrell said that had more to do with the matchup, preferring to have Daniel Nava face Orioles righty Darren O'Day.

Victorino went 1-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and an RBI in Wednesday's loss to the Nationals.
Victorino snapped an 0-for-15 slide with his hit Wednesday.

Red Sox manager John Farrell said the Red Sox will remain cautious with Victorino, who is coming off back surgery in 2014, early in the season, the Boston Herald reports. "He's well aware in advance of games if he's going to be on the field or when we're going to have Nava or Allen Craig in right," Farrell said. "He's working back into everyday play. There's going to be a balance to that. The schedule has something to do with that. Matchups have something to do with that."
Farrell can use the health excuse as a way to get at-bats for Daniel Nava and Allen Craig until Victorino is completely healthy or some sort of roster clearing is done. In addition to the log-jam at the major-league level, Boston has Rusney Castillo (currently out with a shoulder injury) and Jackie Bradley performing well at Triple-A Pawtucket.
Tue Apr 14 201514:25Victorino not in lineup for Tuesday's game against Nationals
Victorino is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Nationals, Tim Britton of the Providence Journal reports.
Victorino has only started five of Boston's first eight games, as the team's strong outfield depth has unsurprisingly cut into his at-bats. While the 34-year-old is still the primary option in right field, he'll likely give way to Daniel Nava or Brock Holt at least once or twice per week against right-handed starters. Victorino hasn't done himself any favors with a 2-for-20 start, but he does have three walks and only one strikeout. While Nava is a far superior batter against right-handed pitching, the Red Sox prefer Victorino's defense, especially when playing at home. This will be a situation to watch all season, as Rusney Castillo (shoulder) could eventually push both Victorino and Nava aside.
Fri Apr 10 201515:20Victorino not in lineup Friday against Yankees
Victorino is not in the lineup Friday against the Yankees, Tim Britton of the Providence Journal reports.
Victorino has a 2-for-5 career mark against Nathan Eovaldi, Friday's starter for New York, but he'll give way to Daniel Nava in right field. It marks the second time Victorino has sat in four games so far this season, but there has been no word of an injury to this point. It seems manager John Farrell just wants to get another left-handed-hitting option in there for this matchup.

Victorino had two hits, scored a run and knocked in one in Boston's win over Philadelphia on Thursday. He returned to the lineup after getting a night off Wednesday.
Victorino may be in and out of the lineup early on, particularly when the weather is sketchy, like the wet and damp night in Philly on Wednesday.
Thu Apr 9 201515:20Victorino back in lineup Thursday against Phillies
Victorino is back in the lineup Thursday against the Phillies, Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.
Although the Red Sox didn't suggest there was anything wrong with Victorino, there was some concern he may be ailing after running into the outfield wall Tuesday. He was held out of the lineup Wednesday in favor of Daniel Nava, but it appears Victorino is fine to occupy his normal spot in the lineup against right-hander David Buchanan.
Wed Apr 8 201515:09Victorino will sit out Wednesday's contest against Phillies
Victorino will sit out Wednesday's contest against the Phillies, Ryan Lawrence of the Providence Journal reports.
Victorino ran into the wall in right field Wednesday, but reported no ill effects afterwards. It's unclear if his absence is related to the collision, but Daniel Nava will start in right field in his place.
Wed Apr 8 201507:31Victorino said there no after effects
Victorino, who collided with the right field wall at Citizens Bank Park during Monday's home opener, said there was no after effects, the Boston Herald reports.
Early on this season, every time Victorino extends himself, we're left to wonder if he'll need a few days to recover. In addition to the wall collision, Victorino also stole a base. So far, so good for the oft-injured outfielder.

Victorino had two walks and a stolen base in five plate appearances Monday in Boston's 8-0 win over Philadelphia.
Victorino fought off the younger, more dynamic Rusney Castillo to become the starting right fielder, but he wasn't very impressive at the plate during spring training. At this point, we're watching the clock, waiting for Castillo to force his way back up to Boston.
Tue Mar 31 201506:25Red Sox manager John Farrell continues to assert that Victorino
Red Sox manager John Farrell continues to assert that Victorino, if healthy, is the starting right fielder, the Boston Globe reports. Victorino played a third consecutive game Monday night, the first time he's done that all spring.
Farrell is sticking by his original comments made at the outset of spring training, but did hedge slightly Monday when he said "at this time" Victorino is the starter. This, despite the impressive display of Rusney Castillo since he returned from an oblique injury. While Victorino has managed to pick up the intensity and game-speed the last week, Castillo will eventually wrest the starting spot from him.

Victorino played in the first of what the Red Sox want to be three consecutive games on Saturday, the Boston Globe reports.
Victorino went 1-for-3 with a single and a walk while moving well down the line. There have been more than few signs this spring that Victorino is a health risk in 2015 -- an early set back in February, the decision to hit solely from the right side, and that he hasn't played two consecutive days in the field. With Rusney Castillo lurking, it may only be a matter of time before Victorino is a full-time backup.
Thu Mar 26 201510:08Victorino not expected to open season on disabled list
Victorino is not expected to open the season on the disabled list, Alex Speier of the Boston Globe reports.
Victorino has been dealing with a bit of leg soreness this spring, after experiencing several consecutive seasons plagued by various lower body injuries. The Red Sox fortunately have the depth provided by Mookie Betts, Allen Craig, Jackie Bradley and Daniel Nava to turn to if they change their mind, but one thing seems clear -- Victorino won't be an everyday player in the upcoming season.

Red Sox manager John Farrell said he's still trying "to get a better gauge on" Victorino's durability, the Providence Journal reports. "The one thing we're still trying to get our arms around is, what's the overall durability inside of a given week? How many games played can we plan for?," said Farrell.
Victorino has yet to play two consecutive games in the field and recently, Boston has introduced Rusney Castillo to right field. Depending on Victorino's status when the regular season starts -- disabled list or part-time player -- the Red Sox can cover right field with Castillo, Daniel Nava or Allen Craig.

Multiple scouts have said Victorino doesn't look right physically, ESPN Boston reports.
Victorino played in back-to-back games for the first time during the spring season, but served as a designated hitter Monday. He's 3-for-19 in eight spring games.

Victorino will abandon switch hitting again and bat only right-handed, Nick Cafardo of The Boston Globe reports.
Cafardo indicates the decision is health-based and not performance-based, so a switch back for Victorino could still be in the cards if the wear and tear lightens. Victorino's performance against righties suffered last year as an exclusive right-hander, hitting .241/.289/.361. That line was a downgrade from his .274/.317/.389 line against righties as a left-hander in 2013.

Victorino has been noticeably more careful in spring games since experiencing some soreness in his legs, the Boston Herald reports. "I think a little bit guarded at times," manager John Farrell said of Victorino's approach yesterday. "Again, he's coming off a back surgery, so first game out, you know, he reverts back to when he was 100 percent healthy and has a little bit of setback. Now we're taking steps, progressive steps, with him, getting back to full speed."
Victorino, who had back surgery last August, began training camp like he always does -- playing all out -- and that resulted in some soreness in his legs. He has since tempered his all-out effort until he's back to full speed. In addition to his health, Victorino is also dealing with being a full-time left-handed hitter this spring, something that may be a factor in having just one hit in 13 at-bats.
Tue Mar 10 201516:53Victorino (leg) emerged from Tuesday's game with no issues
Victorino (leg) emerged from Tuesday's game with no issues, Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal reports.
John Farrell said Victorino was "clean, fine, no issues" after the game, and he's slated to play next on Thursday in Bradenton.

Victorino (leg) will not make the trip Monday to play the Cardinals in Jupiter (Fla.), the Boston Globe reports.
Victorino, who was rested for the two days over the weekend, had been scheduled to play Monday, but the Red Sox are giving him another day. That means we should expect to see him play Tuesday at home in Fort Myers.

Victorino felt tightness in his legs after sliding into the bag while going from first to third on a single in Friday night's game, WEEI.com reports.
Victorino kidded with reporters Saturday, admonishing himself for such an aggressive action playing in just his second game since coming off back surgery last August. "Second game in seven months and I'm going first to third on a bang-bang play?" Victorino said with a wry laugh. "What's my problem?" Victorino, who took batting practice Saturday, will get Sunday off before heading across state Monday to play the Cardinals.
