Detwiler exited Thursday's game against the Mets in the seventh inning due to a left hamstring strain.
Detwiler's injury occurred after he had already recorded two outs in the inning, but he was unable to finish the frame. It's unclear how severe the strain was, but with the expanded rosters, the team has no reason to make any moves, so even if it is serious, he'll likely just sit for a while.

He's posted a decent track record dating back to his years with the Nationals, but struggled mightily with the Rangers this season. Over 17 games (seven starts) and 43 innings, the 29-year-old posted a 7.12 ERA and 1.91 WHIP with just a 28:20 K:BB ratio.

However, with Matt Harrison (back) seemingly on track for a June return, Detwiler may need an injury or two in front of him to get that opportunity.

Detwiler (shoulder) threw a side session this week and is expected to come off the DL this weekend, MLB Network Radio reports.
Detwiler is apparently feeling well and it sounds like it will be a short stay for him on the disabled list. He would presumably start Saturday's game, but if he cannot go, it will be Phil Klein who gets another turn in the rotation. Prior to Detwiler's bout with shoulder inflammation he had posted a 6.03 FIP in seven starts, so it would be best to take a wait-and-see approach if he does indeed get the start Saturday.

Detwiler said he first felt soreness in his pitching arm during his most recent start Thursday, and after having team doctors take a look at him, the Rangers decided a DL move was the best course of action. Tanner Scheppers was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock to fill out their 25-man roster, but the Rangers still need to identify a starter to assume Detwiler's rotation spot Wednesday in Boston. The top options would likely be Anthony Ranaudo or top prospect Alex Gonzalez.

Detwiler allowed two runs on five hits, walking two and striking out five over 5.1 innings of a 2-1 loss to the Mariners Tuesday night.
Detwiler (0-3, 8.66 ERA) has struggled mightily so far this season. However, the Rangers opted to have him work on some glitches in his mechanics, and remain in the rotation for the time being. He still ran up a high pitch count (100 pitches, 61 for strikes), but this outing was a marked improvement over his previous outings, and likely insured he will get another turn or two in the rotation to see if he can build on this performance. That said, fantasy owners may prefer to take a wait and see approach.

Updating a previous report, Detwiler will not make his regularly scheduled start Sunday, according to the Rangers' official site.
Detwiler's rotation spot was considered safe despite a poor outing Sunday, but it now appears the left-hander will get at least one turn skipped. The plan is for Detwiler to take some time to work on his mechanics, with the intention of a return to the rotation. He'll likely have a short leash, however, and could be a shaky outing away from a more permanent transition to long relief.
