Franklin Morales, who was scheduled to start Wednesday, ended up with a win in relief after pitching scoreless 13th and 14th innings against the Rays on Monday.

Franklin Morales will start Wednesday against the Rays.
The Red Sox need an extra starter after Saturday's doubleheader, so Morales will get the call. The 27-year-old southpaw has allowed six runs in 5 2/3 innings since returning from the disabled list late last month and can be avoided in mixed leagues.

Thu May 30 201323:30Franklin Morales picks up win in 2013 debut
Franklin Morales recorded a win in his season debut after allowing two runs in five innings Thursday against the Phillies.
Morales was making a spot start for the Red Sox tonight with Clay Buchholz getting pushed back. He'll head to the bullpen for now, but he may get a longer look as a starter if someone goes down. He'd be a nice pitcher to have stashed away in AL-only leagues.

Sun May 26 201310:44Franklin Morales likely to be activated Tues.
Red Sox manager John Farrell said the club is leaning towards activating Franklin Morales (back, pectoral) from the disabled list on Tuesday.

Franklin Morales (back, pectoral) is expected to make at least two more rehab starts before being activated from the disabled list.
Morales threw three innings in his last outing and will stretch it out to four innings Saturday. The lefty would have been activated by now had the Red Sox wanted him as a reliever, but they're stretching him out as a starter in case he's needed in that role. "Well, he'll likely get to four innings [on Saturday], and if we don't change course with his role, we'd like to get him to a minimum of five before we'd look to do something back here," manager John Farrell said.
