Gose was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Friday, Sportsnet reports.

Gose is hitting just .234 with the Blue Jays on the year, but will move back to Triple-A with the return of Edwin Encarnacion from the disabled list. However, he may find a spot back on the big league roster in a couple of weeks when they expand in September.

Gose is out of the lineup Tuesday, SportsNet's Barry Davis reports.

With Adam Lind making a long-awaited return to the lineup at DH, Jose Bautista may start seeing some more starts in right field, which could cut into Gose's playing time. Gose has been a defensive monster in limited duty this season, and has done well to cut down his strikeout rate. In 2012 when he debuted with Toronto, he posted a 31.2 percent K-rate in 189 plate appearances, but this season he is only striking out 23.6 percent of the time. His speed and his throwing arm are both elite tools, but he'll never approach being a .300 hitter, and it doesn't look like the power will be showing up anytime soon.

Gose had two stolen bases in Sunday's win over the Tigers, including a big steal in the ninth where he was initially called out, but then ruled safe after a replay review.

That stolen base led to the tying run in a game that eventually lasted 19 innings. "Hey, that's the game right there," said Blue Jays manager John Gibbons. "That's the benefit of instant replay, to get it right. They're all close, but that's the whole idea behind it. It's big."

Gose is not in Friday's lineup, SportsNet's Barry Davis reports.

His speed makes him valuable in mid-sized leagues, but he's not an everyday player, as he'll sit for the third time in the last seven games.

Gose hit a solo home run in Thursday's loss to Baltimore. It was his first long ball of the season.

Gose hasn't shown any power in his short career, hitting just four homers in 476 at-bats. He can help fantasy owners with his speed, however, as he's swiped 12 bags in 163 at-bats this season.

With Nolan Reimold heading to the disabled list, Gose will once again provide depth in the outfield for the Jays. In 44 games this season, the 23-year-old is hitting .229/.333/.284 with five RBI, five stolen bases and a 32/16 K/BB ratio over 109 at-bats.

Gose was a massive disappointment in Triple-A this year, but he's been surprisingly competent in the majors, hitting .268/.293/.438 in 112 at-bats. It should keep him in the lineup the rest of the way, even though Colby Rasmus has returned to play center. We wouldn't pencil him in for 2014 just yet.
