Reed notched his 31st save of the season Friday night versus the Rockies, picking up two strikeouts as he retired all three batters faced.
Reed reached a respectable milestone Friday night, as the 25-year-old closer picked up the 100th save of his MLB career. Though he has been a bit shaky at times during his first season in Arizona, the hard-throwing righty has produced mostly strong results in the second half of 2014. Since the All-Star break, Reed has converted all 10 of his save opportunities while posting a stellar 1.84 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 20:3 K:BB ratio across 14.2 innings.

Reed pitched a perfect ninth Saturday, striking out two in the process, in the Diamondback's 5-2 victory over the Padres.
It was his 30th save in 35 chances, and his ERA has dipped from 4.42 to 3.68 since his last blown save back in July 8.

Reed pitched a perfect ninth inning to pick up the save in the Diamondbacks' 3-2 win over the Marlins on Saturday.
The save was Reed's 29th on the season. After allowing two runs in an outing August 8, he responded with three straight scoreless appearances. His ERA has fallen to 3.83 on the season, the lowest it has been since July 28.

Reed pitched a scoreless 12th inning on one hit and two strikeouts to get the save in the Diamondbacks' 1-0 win in Game 2 of a doubleheader against the Indians on Wednesday.
The outing was Reed's second straight clean sheet, after allowing two runs August 8. He continues to maintain a high strikeout total, with six in his last four games. He now ranks 11th in the league in saves.

Reed pitched a scoreless ninth inning, allowing a hit while striking out two, to earn the save in the Diamondbacks' 7-4 win over the Pirates on Thursday.
The 25-year-old earned his 27th save of the year, which ranks fifth in the National League. It's Reed's seventh save in eight appearances. Reed allowed just four runs in the month, which saw his ERA go from 4.15 to 3.86 for the year. He has eight strikeouts in his last four appearances.

Reed gave up a three-run homer to Devin Mesoraco, but hung on to record save No. 26 of the season Wednesday against the Reds.
Reed allowed the Reds to pull within one with the three-run bomb, but because two of the baserunners were inherited, he was only charged with one earned run. Thus, his ERA remains at 3.95 on the year. He's already been charged with two blown saves in July, so Reed was lucky to avoid any further damage. He's hanging on to the closer's role by a thread at the moment, and his mistake Wednesday certainly didn't play in his favor.
Wed Jul 30 201415:42Reed serves up homer but able to convert save
Addison Reed allowed a three-run homer but was able to convert his 26th save Wednesday versus the Reds.
Eury De La Rosa gave up a leadoff single and a one-out walk in the bottom of the ninth inning before the D'Backs turned the keys over to their closer. Reed then yielded a two-out three-run shot to Devin Mesoraco but rallied to fan Ryan Ludwick for the final out. Reed could be available at Thursday's July 31 trade deadline.

Mon Jul 28 201420:36D'Backs would consider trading closer Reed
ESPN's Jayson Stark reports that the Diamondbacks are telling teams that "they'd talk" about trading Addison Reed.
It's not clear at this point whether they've had any real discussions with other teams, but it appears they're at least willing to entertain the possibility of a deal. Reed has had an up-and-down season for the D'Backs but his numbers overall (3.89 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, 47/11 K/BB ratio over 41 2/3 innings) have been pretty good. He'll be eligible for arbitration for the first time this winter. Stark also notes that the D'Backs are listening on Aaron Hill, Oliver Perez and, "for the right offer," Martin Prado and Josh Collmenter. They're expected to hang on to Brad Ziegler.

Sun Jul 20 201419:16Reed wraps up Sunday's win for 23rd save
Addison Reed enjoyed a 1-2-3 ninth inning en route to his 23rd save as the Diamondbacks eked out a win over the Cubs on Sunday.
1-2-3 innings have been few and far between for Reed this season, his first with the D'Backs. Sunday's outing leaves him 23-for-28 in save chances with a 4.08 ERA, a 1.16 WHIP, and a 44/10 K/BB ratio in 39 2/3 innings.

Sat Jul 19 201401:13Addison Reed earns 22nd save
Addison Reed protected a one-run lead in the ninth for his 22nd save as the Diamondbacks topped the Cubs 5-4 on Friday.
Two in a row for Reed after he blew three of his previous six chances. If he can put up another zero next time out, it'll be the first time he's gone three straight appearances without allowing a run since May 17-June 1, when he went six in a row.

Sat Jul 12 201419:01Reed gets save as Diamondbacks top Giants
Addison Reed picked up his 21st save of the season Saturday in the Diamondbacks' 2-0 win over the Giants.
Reed retired all three batters he faced in the bottom of the ninth inning. It was a needed clean outing for the 25-year-old right-hander, who has blown five saves and owns a rough 4.30 ERA in 37 2/3 innings this season.

Wed Jul 9 201414:01Gibson sticking with Addison Reed at closer
Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson on Wednesday said that Addison Reed remains the team's closer.
Reed blew another save Tuesday, serving up a two-out, two-run homer to Marcell Ozuna in a loss to the Marlins. The reliever has blown five saves, allowed a whopping nine home runs over 36 2/3 innings and has a 4.42 ERA, but Gibson obviously thinks he's still the club's best option in the ninth inning. We can't imagine Reed having more leash going forward, but then again we figured a change would probably have been made by now. Brad Ziegler remains the best bet for saves in Arizona if the Snakes eventually make a move.

Wed Jul 9 201400:23Reed blows another save against the Marlins
Addison Reed gave up a two-run homer to blow a save and take the loss in Tuesday's 2-1 setback versus the Marlins.
Reed came on in a tense pitcher's duel and promptly walked Ed Lucas. It looked like he would dance around danger after Reed mowed down Giancarlo Stanton and drew a line out from Casey McGehee, but Marcell Ozuna took him deep. Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson continues to stick by the 25-year-old stopper, but even Job would be running out of patience by this point. Having coughed up nine homers, Reed is four away from matching his career output prior to this season. He's 1-5 and 20-for-25 in save conversions to go to with a 4.42 ERA.

Sun Jul 6 201416:32Reed closes out Braves for 20th save Sunday
Addison Reed allowed one hit but finished the Braves off for his 20th save on Sunday.
Reed surrendered a leadoff single to Tommy La Stella before striking out Christian Bethancourt and getting Ryan Doumit to ground into a double play. It was a nice rebound from blowing his fourth save his last time out. Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson has said he's sticking with Reed, so adventurous fantasy owners need to stick with him while he's getting save chances, too.

Thu Jul 3 201408:06D'Backs sticking with closer Addison Reed
Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said Wednesday that he's sticking with Addison Reed at closer.
Reed blew his fourth save of the season Tuesday in Arizona's loss to the Pirates and owns an ugly 4.15 ERA in 34 2/3 total innings this season, but Gibson was annoyed that the question was even asked Wednesday. "I think he's been pretty good," Gibson said. "He's done a pretty good job for us. We've had no discussions about removing him. You might feel differently, but we don't."

Tue Jul 1 201421:49Reed blows fourth save in loss to Pirates
Addison Reed allowed two inherited runs to score and gave up a walk-off single in Tuesday's loss to the Pirates.
Reed entered in a tough spot, coming in with two runners on and nobody out, but he didn't do much to inspire confidence, either. After getting an out on a long fly ball from Josh Harrison, Starling Marte hit a two-run double off the center field wall to tie the game. After an intentional walk to Andrew McCutchen, Ike Davis hit the game-winning single, saddling Reed with his fourth loss of the year. Reed now has a 4.15 ERA and 1.21 WHIP, and his job security, while still safe, slips a little more with each blown save.

Wed Jun 25 201403:23Reed blows save No. 3 against the Indians
Addison Reed allowed one run on a single and two walks in the ninth inning to blow his third save Tuesday against the Indians.
Reed has given up a run in 15 of his 33 appearances, not exactly what Arizona was hoping for when they dealt third baseman Matt Davidson for the closer in December. If there's a silver lining, it's that Reed hasn't allowed more than two runs in any appearance; he's been consistently mediocre, but never putrid. He isn't the best fit for Arizona as a fly-ball pitcher, and Reed set his career-high for homers allowed earlier this month (it was previously six; he's coughed up eight so far). The Snakes don't have enough pitching or short-term playoff aspirations to consider displacing Reed, and it's not like his 4.18 ERA demands it.

Sun Jun 15 201421:25Reed allows run in non-save situation Sunday
Addison Reed allowed two hits and one run in a non-save situation against the Dodgers on Sunday.
Getting some work with a 6-2 lead, Reed allowed an Andre Ethier single and a two-out double by Hanley Ramirez before retiring Yasiel Puig to end the game. Reed has now allowed runs in three of his last five appearances, owning a 4.15 ERA on the year. His seat may not be red hot, but manager Kirk Gibson may begin to consider other options if he doesn't get it figured out soon.

Tue Jun 10 201420:06Addison Reed converts 16th save
Addison Reed nailed down his 16th save of the season with a scoreless frame in Tuesday's win over the Astros.
Reed preserved the three-run lead with ease, inducing a groundout and a couple strikeouts. It's often been rocky for Reed, who dropped his ERA to an un-closer-like 3.99. However, he's converted 16-of-18 save chances and appears to have a decent amount of leash.

Sun Jun 8 201402:27Addison Reed gives up eighth homer
Working in a tie game, Addison Reed gave up his eighth homer of the year Saturday to Jason Heyward in the 10th inning against the Braves.
Miguel Montero let Reed off the hook by homering in the bottom of the 10th to retie the game. Reed's eight homers allowed in 28 1/3 innings this year is a ridiculous total -- he's already two-thirds of the way to the MLB-high for any reliever in 2012 -- but he's 15-for-17 saving games anyway. There's no need for Arizona to consider a change in the ninth.
