Sun Apr 15 2012 | 16:07 | Giants place Wilson on DL, season likely over |
Giants placed RHP Brian Wilson on the 15-Day disabled list, retroactive to April 13, with a right elbow sprain. |
Wilson will undergo season-ending surgery to repair structural damage in his right elbow. He's seeking a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews, but the bearded closer said he anticipates having another Tommy John surgery and missing the rest of the year. Sunday's roster move was procedural and Wilson will be shifted to the 60-day disabled list soon unless Dr. Andrews delivers miraculous news. |

Should Wilson need surgery, he'd be unlikely to return and contribute for the remainder of the season. In this case, Sergio Romo would step in as the likely closer and take on tremendous value in fantasy leagues everywhere. Stay tuned for further updates. |
