Shane Battier is going to be eased back into his old role with the first unit and he only played nine minutes on Thursday. Haslem went 5-of-6 from the field in 22 minutes of action on Thursday, but isn't worth a look in most leagues with Miami fairly healthy.

Fri Oct 5 201213:09Udonis Haslem worked on 3-pointer in summer
Udonis Haslem worked on improving his 3-point shot during the offseason.
No, we're not kidding. Haslem's last 3-point attempt was in 2007, but he's prepared to make it a part of his game. "I spent time on it this summer," he said. "We'll see. It feels pretty good. You've got to ask Coach. But it feels good. I'm going to shoot it with confidence and we'll see how it goes." Haslem is looking for ways to stay on the floor, and improving his range on the perimeter is a good start.

Haslem is looking to broaden his horizons as he knows that he's not guaranteed major minutes in the rotation. The veteran big man wants to add "a little bit more range," and the ability to knock down an open jumper will be critical for Haslem if he hopes to sustain his role in the rotation.

Sat Sep 22 201213:47Udonis Haslem fighting for his role on Heat
Udonis Haslem knows that there will be stiff competition for playing time in Miami's rotation this season, and that he may have to "sacrifice those minutes."
Haslem's role is endangered by Miami's small-ball attack, and the additions of Ray Allen, Rashard Lewis and Josh Harrellson each give Erik Spoelstra more options. Haslem said he's been working toward the 2012-13 season from the moment the Finals ended, and suggested that his mid-range jumper is sharper than ever.

Mon Aug 27 201209:11Udonis Haslem could be backup C for Heat
The South Florida Sun-Sentinel believes it's "highly possible" that Udonis Haslem could serve as the Heat's backup center behind Chris Bosh.
However, Haslem really struggled last season, so it wouldn't be surprising to see the team bring in another big man as an insurance policy. He'll look to bounce back from a season where he averaged 6.0 points and 7.3 rebounds on just 42.3 percent shooting, the lowest mark of his career.

Udonis Haslem played 36 minutes in Miami's OT defeat in Boston on Sunday, racking up 12 points, 17 rebounds, two assists and one steal off the bench.
Haslem justified Miami's small-ball attack, making 4-of-6 FGs and 4-of-4 FTs while easily outplaying new starting center Joel Anthony (two points, three rebounds in 15 minutes). Ronny Turiaf and Dexter Pittman both received DNP-CDs, and without Chris Bosh (abdomen) it seems the Heat will roll with a center rotation of Anthony, Haslem and LeBron.

Wed May 23 201218:58Haslem suspended 1 game, Pittman 3 games
Udonis Haslem has been suspended one game for his Flagrant-2 foul on Tyler Hansbrough during Game 5.
Dexter Pittman has also been suspended, for three games, and with Chris Bosh already ruled out for Game 6 the Heat's frontcourt is especially thin. Shane Battier has already been checking David West at PF in the series, and we could see Juwan Howard or even Eddy Curry on the active roster for Thursday.

Udonis Haslem's flagrant-one foul on Tyler Hansbrough is "almost certain" to be upgraded to a flagrant-two foul, a source tells CBS Sports' Ken Berger.

Tue May 22 201223:20Udonis Haslem staring at possible suspension
Udonis Haslem could be suspended for Thursday's Game 6 against the Pacers after clobbering Tyler Hansbrough midway through Tuesday's Game 5 win.
Haslem was retaliating after Hansbrough committed a hard foul on Dwyane Wade, which included what may have been an intentional raking of Wade's eyes, too. Regardless, Haslem's foul didn't pretend to have any basketball purpose other than to inflict pain, and he's looking at a 50-50 chance (at best) of playing on Thursday.
