Wed Jan 16 201315:52Steve Blake feels good, playing waiting game
Steve Blake took part in 3-on-3 drills Wednesday, but wants to wait to see how his groin and abdomen respond to increased activity.
Blake's injury odyssey this year has been full of twists and turns and today's workout comes a day after he said he planned to see a hernia specialist. At this point, all we can do is wait it out and see how he's affected by the workout. Whenever he does return, he'll be Steve Nash's primary backup.

Wed Jan 16 201308:35No timetable for Steve Blake's return
Steve Blake (abdomen, groin) is without a timetable for his return.
This goes directly against a report that Blake was hoping to return next week. Although Blake's abdomen is feeling better, his groin injury continues to be a problem and has been "bothering him lately." Whenever he does return, he'll back up Steve Nash.

Tue Jan 15 201322:02Steve Blake (groin) gets PRP injection
Steve Blake (groin) got a platelet-rich plasma injection on his groin and is hoping to return next week.
He's been targeting a return in mid-January for about one month, but it looks like he'll be a couple days late from that timetable. Blake will back up Steve Nash and doesn't have value in almost all leagues.

Tue Jan 15 201309:47Steve Blake (abdomen) without timetable
Steve Blake (abdomen) is improving, but there is still no timetable for his return.
"He's feeling a little bit better, but there's no timetable," said Mike D'Antoni. Blake isn't ready to begin "ramping it up yet," so the report from late December that he'd be back in two to three weeks looks like it was inaccurate. Based Blake's six-to-eight week timeframe given after his surgery, the point guard should be able to return in late January or early February.

Fri Dec 28 201221:20Blake is targeting a return in mid-January
Steve Blake (abdomen) said on Friday that he is targeting a return in mid-January.
This has been his target date since early December, but it appears he's still on schedule. He'll have little to no fantasy value as long as Steve Nash is healthy.

Thu Dec 27 201209:08Steve Blake targeting return in 2-3 weeks
Steve Blake (abdomen) "will be back in two to three weeks," according to the Los Angeles Times.
Blake was targeting a mid-January return after surgery, so that sounds about right. When he does get back on the floor, it will help Mike D'Antoni's plan to decrease Steve Nash's minutes. Blake should resume the backup point guard role immediately.

Wed Dec 5 201217:59Steve Blake undergoes surgery on abdomen
The Lakers announced Steve Blake underwent surgery Wednesday to repair a torn abdominal muscle and he'll miss roughly six to eight weeks.
Nothing new here as the Lakers confirmed what we already knew. With Steve Nash (leg) out at least another week, it'll be the Chris Duhon and Darius Morris show for the Lakers. Kobe will likely continue to handle the ball more, as well.

Mon Dec 3 201215:30Blake out 6-8 weeks w/ abdominal surgery
Steve Blake needs laproscopic surgery to repair a torn abdominal muscle, and he's expected to miss a minimum of 6-8 weeks.
With Steve Nash still out 10-14 days, the Lakers will continue to rely on Darius Morris and Chris Duhon at PG, with more ball-handling duties for Kobe.

Thu Nov 29 201209:20Report: Steve Blake dealing w/ torn tissue
Steve Blake's (abdomen) MRI revealed that his "tissues are torn from the bone," a source tells the Los Angeles Daily News.
Blake has been ruled out for at least two more weeks (seven games), but it sounds like he could miss even more time than that. At this point, Steve Nash (leg) may have a chance to return before Blake, but both point guards remain out indefinitely.

Wed Nov 28 201218:22Steve Blake out at least two more weeks
Steve Blake (abdomen) announced on Twitter that he'll be out at least two more weeks following an MRI on Wednesday.
Mike D'Antoni said earlier it would be "a little while" before Blake returns and this seems to confirm that. It'll continue to be the Darius Morris/Chris Duhon show in L.A. with both Blake and Steve Nash (leg) sidelined, but neither Morris nor Duhon provide any real fantasy value. The only boost is Kobe Bryant should continue to see more time as the de facto PG.

Wed Nov 28 201208:52Steve Blake (abdomen) not expected back soon
Mike D'Antoni said that "it's going to be a little while" until Steve Blake (abdomen) returns.
"He said he felt better (Tuesday) but he still feels it a little bit, and he can't feel that when he starts to practice," the coach said. "Then if he doesn't feel it in practice, then he'll play." With both Blake and Nash (leg) on the shelf, the Darius Morris/Chris Duhon show will roll in for Los Angeles.

Mon Nov 26 201216:43Steve Blake (abdomen) ruled out for Tuesday
Steve Blake (abdomen) didn't practice on Monday and has been ruled out for Tuesday's game vs. the Pacers.
Blake is "progressing slowly" and the Lakers are being cautious to avoid setbacks. He doesn't have fantasy appeal even with Steve Nash (leg) still sidelined, so his return date isn't exactly a burning question.

Fri Nov 23 201214:31Steve Blake (abdomen) may return Tuesday
Steve Blake (abdominal strain) could return on Tuesday if he makes it through Monday's practice without any setbacks.
Blake will probably be eased back into the rotation, but Mike D'Antoni has had nothing but praise for the veteran PG. He expects Blake's 3-point shooting to increase in his offensive system, adding, "He'll pick it up real easy. I'm looking forward to it."

Wed Nov 21 201209:39Steve Blake won't play in next three games
Steve Blake (abdomen) will not play in any of the Lakers next three games.
Darius Morris will continue to start in Blake's absence with Steve Nash (leg) still sidelined as well. "I would like to see him practice before he plays," Mike D'Antoni said. The coach is hopeful Blake will be ready to play after the three-game stretch, and while Morris will start, he holds no value in standard leagues as Kobe Bryant will serve as the Lakers playmaker.

Tue Nov 20 201213:53Steve Blake (abdomen) out again Tuesday
Steve Blake (abdomen) will not play on Tuesday, meaning that Darius Morris will make another start.
Morris has averaged six points and four assists as a starter, but he's shooting just 38.9 percent from the floor. Morris isn't a fantasy option in standard leagues.

Mon Nov 19 201215:58Steve Blake (abdomen) not practicing Monday
Steve Blake (abdomen) did not practice on Monday.
No word yet on his availability for Tuesday. Darius Morris has started three straight games with Blake (and Steve Nash) out, averaging 6.0 points and 4.0 assists in those games.

Sun Nov 18 201214:04Steve Blake (abdomen) ruled out for Sunday
Steve Blake (abdomen) has been ruled out for the Lakers on Sunday.
Darius Morris will earn another start at PG, with Chris Duhon in a support role. In other news, Mike D'Antoni said he hopes to coach on Sunday but isn't sure if he'll have the energy, and put his odds as '50-50'.

Sat Nov 17 201217:33No practice for Steve Blake(abdomen) Saturday
Steve Blake (abdomen) did not practice on Saturday.
There's a good chance that he will be out for Sunday's game after already missing two games. The Lakers haven't got much out of their sophomore point guard Darius Morris and he's not on the radar for anything outside of a desperate spot-start option.

Fri Nov 16 201214:29Steve Blake (abdomen) game-time on Friday
Steve Blake (strained abdomen) will be a game-time decision on Friday.
If he plays, Blake would get a healthy dose of minutes with Steve Nash (leg) still on the sidelines. Mike D'Antoni said during his introductory press conference that he's been hoping to coach Blake for the past 10 years, adding, "He's perfect for this system." MDA's system may play to the strengths of Blake and Chris Duhon, but we're unswayed by his glowing optimism.
