Thu Nov 15 201210:44Steve Blake better improving, may play Friday
Steve Blake (strained abdomen) has "slightly better than 50-50" odds to play vs. the Suns on Friday.
Blake's return will bump Darius Morris back to the bench, while also cutting into Chris Duhon's minutes.

Wed Nov 14 201211:53Steve Blake unsure when he will return
Steve Blake (abdomen) missed Tuesday's game against the Spurs and isn't sure when he'll be able to return.
Blake said he won't rush anything and will back down if he experiences pain. Darius Morris got the start Tuesday, but struggled the Lakers ran most of their offense through Kobe Bryant. Morris and Chris Duhon will share time with Blake and Steve Nash (leg) out, but don't expect much in the way of fantasy value.

Mon Nov 12 201220:15Steve Blake (abdomen) out on Tuesday
Steve Blake (abdomen) will not play on Tuesday against the Spurs.
Chris Duhon profiles as the guy to start against the veteran Spurs, but Darius Morris is the better fantasy play and is the first player name coming out of beat writers' mouths right now. We've long liked Morris as a second round standout from his draft class, but he has been on the shelf for most of his time as a professional.

Mon Nov 12 201201:49Steve Blake to have ultrasound for injury
Steve Blake will not practice on Monday and will have an ultrasound on his abdomen instead.
Blake is in a lot of pain and it would not be surprising to see him miss a couple games with the injury. With Steve Nash (leg) also out, the Lakers really don't have a point guard right now. Look for Kobe Bryant to pick up the slack, although Chris Duhon looks like the likely starter if Blake misses time.

Mon Nov 12 201200:08Steve Blake limited by strained abdomen
Steve Blake strained an abdominal muscle during Sunday's game -- he briefly returned to start the second half, but left again after just a few minutes.
Blake wound up with two points and four assists in 14 minutes. The Lakers are down to just Darius Morris on the PG depth chart, though Steve Nash (leg) could return in a week and we're considering Blake questionable for Tuesday's game vs. the Spurs.

Tue Nov 6 201219:47Steve Blake fined $25,000 for fan rant
Steve Blake got into it with a fan near the end of Friday's loss to the Clippers and was fined $25,000.
He met with the fan on Tuesday and apologized, and will continue to start at point guard for the Lakers while Steve Nash is out for another week with a broken leg. However, Blake isn't worth owning in most fantasy leagues.

Mon Nov 5 201210:06Lakers not bringing in another point guard
The Lakers do not plan to add another point guard with Steve Nash (leg) sidelined.
Steve Blake will be the starter and Darius Morris should see consistent action with Nash on the sidelines, and although guys like Derek Fisher and Delonte West are available, the Lakers are set to roll on with their current $100 million roster.

Sat Nov 3 201207:02Blake mediocre in start for Steve Nash
Steve Blake started for injured Steve Nash (shin) on Friday, scoring eight points on 2-of-6 shooting (including two threes) with one rebound and two assists in 39 minutes.
If you're spot-starting Blake with Nash out you're pretty desperate, but owners can look for some sort of slight improvement on these numbers if he draws another start.

Thu Nov 1 201203:22Steve Blake sees 28 minutes in loss
Steve Blake had seven points, three rebounds, three assists, two steals and a 3-pointer in 28 minutes in Wednesday's loss.
Blake could find himself in the starting lineup for Friday and Sunday, as Steve Nash suffered a leg contusion that forced him from Wednesday's game. But even if that happens, he's still not a great fantasy point guard option in most leagues.

Tue Oct 30 201211:31Steve Blake to serve as primary backup PG
Steve Blake will serve as Steve Nash's primary backup PG, ahead of Chris Duhon.
There was an idea that Duhon could push Blake in training camp, but that didn't happen. Blake will enter the season in his familiar backup role, with Duhon third on the depth chart, but neither has fantasy value as long as Nash stays healthy.

Sat Oct 13 201209:48Report: Lakers trying to trade Duhon & Blake
The Lakers "[have] made it clear...that Chris Duhon and Steve Blake are available via trade," according to ESPN's Marc Stein.
Duhon and Blake will earn a combined $7.5 million this season, dollars L.A. would rather spend elsewhere, but it remains to be seen if they find a taker. Stein suggests that if the Lakers do clear a spot in the backcourt, they might even target FA Derek Fisher after March 15.

Thu Oct 4 201221:08Blake returns to practice after foot injury
Steve Blake (foot) returned to practice on Thursday after stepping on a spike strip a few weeks back.
Mike Brown said he looked normal and unless something changes he'll be ready for the season opener. He's the favorite for backup PG duties behind Steve Nash, ahead of Chris Duhon.

Thu Oct 4 201213:07Steve Blake (foot) cleared for full contact
Steve Blake (foot) has been cleared for full contact.
Blake was expected to miss three weeks after stepping on a spike strip in a parking lot, but it hasn't even been two full weeks and the backup PG has already been cleared. With Steve Nash now running the show and Chris Duhon also on the bench, fantasy owners can ignore Blake.

Mon Oct 1 201212:31Steve Blake cleared to use heel, spot shoot
Steve Blake (foot) has been cleared to use his heel and begin spot shooting.
Blake tweeted that he'll be "playing again in no time," and it's already been one week since he initially stepped on a spike strip in a parking lot. Although Chris Duhon and Darius Morris will have a temporary window to increase their minutes in camp, Blake isn't expected to be out for an extended period and is already making good progress.

Mon Sep 24 201218:40Steve Blake out three weeks w/ foot injury
Steve Blake (foot) is expected to miss three weeks after stepping on a spike strip in a parking lot.
Blake was walking around barefoot near Manhattan Beach, where he lives in California, and he will be prohibited from "impact activities" for the first week or two of Lakers training camp. It's an unfortunate setback for the veteran backup PG, who said he wants to be more "aggressive" on the court this season.

Thu May 24 201209:00Steve Blake wants to become more aggressive
Steve Blake said that he would work on becoming more aggressive in the offseason.
Blake has two seasons and $8 million left on his four-year deal. "They said I need to be more selfish, more aggressive," he said. "But I don't know how to do that. I think I will always play the way I always play." Blake said that he expects to back up Ramon Sessions once again even if Sessions opts out, and also stated that he's comfortable coming off of the bench.

Sun May 20 201201:42Blake, Hill lead paltry Lakers' bench effort
Steve Blake and Jordan Hill were the only Lakers' reserves to score on Saturday, contributing five points each in a Game 4 loss to the Thunder.
Matt Barnes played four scoreless minutes, and the Lakers' starters (led by Kobe's 38 points) didn't have enough firepower to beat the Thunder on the second of back-to-back nights. Mike Brown could be criticized for not reaching deeper into his bench, but the Lakers' reserve corps (led by Devin Ebanks, Andrew Goudelock, Josh McRoberts and Troy Murphy) doesn't exactly seem ready to jump into the playoff fray.

Sun May 13 201202:01Steve Blake carries Lakers w/ five 3s
Steve Blake caught fire in the Lakers' Game 7 win on Saturday, making 5-of-6 three-pointers to finish with 19 points, two rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block.
"I hate Steve Blake tonight," George Karl said after the game, "but I love him as a player." The Lakers have shot only 28.6 percent from downtown in the playoffs, worse than any active team except the 76ers (24.7 percent). They'll have a much better chance of defeating the Thunder with reliable perimeter shooting from Blake and Metta World Peace (4-of-11 from downtown on Saturday), who had many open looks with Denver aggressively double-teaming Kobe.

Thu Mar 22 201206:53Steve Blake to remain starter for time being
Steve Blake will remain the starting point guard for the Lakers at this time.
"We'll see as time goes on," Mike Brown said on the possibility of starting Ramon Sessions. "Right now I like the way our rotation is." Several expect Sessions to overtake Blake as the starter eventually, and we're on board with that belief considering how well Sessions has played for Los Angeles. Blake just doesn't do enough to be owned in standard-sized leagues.

Mon Mar 19 201200:37Steve Blake does nothing in start at PG
Making another start at PG on Sunday, Steve Blake was scoreless with two assists and two turnovers in 27 minutes.
Before the game, Mike Brown said that Blake might keep the starting job ahead of Ramon Sessions for the rest of the season. We're not convinced that will happen, especially after Sunday's lifeless effort, and even as a starter Blake doesn't do enough to warrant owning in 12-team leagues.
