Sun Nov 10 201323:59Steve Blake scores 19 points w/ five 3s
Steve Blake led his team with 19 points, eight assists and three steals during Sunday's blowout loss, making 5-of-8 shots from 3-point range in a futile effort.
He started at PG in the second half after Steve Nash exited with back problems, and his fantasy stock could get a major boost depending upon the outcome of Nash's doctor appointment on Monday. He's worth a speculative add if he's available on your waiver wire -- in 13 starts at PG last season, Blake averaged 10.0 points, 2.2 triples, 4.3 boards, 3.6 assists and 1.1 steals.

Sat Nov 9 201304:43Blake goes for 13 and eight in start at PG
Steve Blake started at point guard for resting Steve Nash and wasted no time following up on Wednesday's solid performance, scoring 13 points with three rebounds, eight assists and two treys in 36 minutes.
Blake hit 4-of-11 shots from the field and 3-of-4 from the line, and he might have stepped in front of Jordan Farmar (10 points, two assists, 23 minutes) to be the beneficiary of Nash's various ailments. Things are going to get tight across the board when Kobe Bryant returns eventually, but for now owners can look to Blake's early season late round value and consider him as a speculative, short-term add.

Fri Nov 8 201301:13Steve Blake hits game-winning triple vs. HOU
Steve Blake hit a game-winning 3-pointer with one second left in Thursday's 99-98 win over the Rockets, finishing with 14 points, three boards, two assists and four 3-pointers on 5-of-10 shooting in 34 minutes.
He got loose on a screen during an in-bounds play and hit nothing but net in the corner. The Lakers were hot from downtown tonight and made 16 from that range, which was more than their 15 free throw attempts. Blake is an interesting option as a spot-start on Friday at New Orleans with Steve Nash expected to sit.

Sat Nov 2 201304:04Blake puts up nine assists in loss
Steve Blake handed out nine assists in Friday's loss, but managed just six points on 2-of-12 shooting to go with four rebounds and a steal in 32 minutes.
Blake hit just 2-of-9 triples or this line would have looked a lot better, but with the Lakers running 11 guys deep in the rotation and Kobe Bryant coming back sooner than later there is only really short-term appeal here.

Wed Oct 30 201302:44Steve Blake plays 22 minutes in quiet night
Steve Blake shot 2-of-3 from the field in Tuesday's opener against the Clippers, scoring six points with two boards, one assist, one steal and two 3-pointers in 22 minutes.
He got the start, but the bench was the story tonight with their 76 points. Blake had a couple bright spots during the season, but it looks clear that Jordan Farmar is a hotter commodity. Blake could still have some value with the injury news surrounding Steve Nash.

Tue Oct 29 201314:39Steve Blake confirmed as Lakers' starting SG
Steve Blake will start at SG when the Lakers open their season vs. the Clippers on Tuesday.
He was impressive in 13 starts last year, averaging 10.0 points, 2.2 threes, 4.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.1 steals per game. He averaged 35 minutes per game during that stretch, however, which may not be attainable with Steve Nash at PG and both Jordan Farmar and Jodie Meeks vying backcourt minutes. Owners should view Blake as a low-end option until Kobe Bryant returns.

Wed Oct 2 201313:53Steve Blake available at multiple positions
Steve Blake is preparing to play at both guard positions for the Lakers.
With Kobe's Achilles injury clouding his status, and with the Lakers intent on limiting aging Steve Nash's minutes, Blake provides much-needed backcourt depth. He'll battle Jordan Farmar for minutes, however, and it remains to be seen if his role will translate into fantasy value once the team is at full strength.

Wed Sep 18 201309:38Steve Blake healthy, ready to go for 2013-14
Steve Blake (hamstring) played without restrictions while working out with Lakers teammates on Tuesday.
Injuries limited Blake to 45 games played last season, though he stumbled into major minutes as a starter in April when he averaged 12.6 points, 2.8 triples, 5.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.0 steals. The Lakers added Jordan Farmar as PG depth this summer, and Blake's fantasy value is severely restricted as long as Steve Nash is healthy.

Thu May 30 201304:10Steve Blake's hamstring now fully recovered
Steve Blake is no longer limited by the strained hamstring that ended his season in late April.
Blake has been working out since the middle of May and he recently confirmed that his hamstring feels fine. In 13 starts for injured teammates this season, Blake averaged 10.0 points, 2.2 threes, 4.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.1 steals. He'll earn a guaranteed $4 million in 2013-14, the final year of his contract, and he's an intriguing handcuff for Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash.

Thu Apr 25 201316:00Steve Blake (hamstring) out 'indefinitely'
Steve Blake (hamstring) will be out indefinitely for the Lakers.
He was diagnosed with a strained hamstring and being out indefinitely suggests there could be some degree of tearing in the muscle. Blake has been useful for the Lakers and in April he averaged 39.3 minutes, 12.6 points and 5.3 assists, so they have a massive hole to fill. The Lakers are also expected to be without Jodie Meeks and Steve Nash, so this year's D-League MVP, Andrew Goudelock, and Darius Morris will be picking up plenty minutes.

Thu Apr 25 201308:07Steve Blake felt 'sharp pain' in hamstring
Steve Blake said he felt a "sharp pain" in his hamstring.
Blake injured his hamstring in the Game 2 loss, and he's already scheduled to have an ultrasound on Thursday. Blake admitted that "it hurts right now" when talking about the injury after the game, and it's looking like he's questionable at best to suit up on Friday. There is a very real possibility the Lakers could start a backcourt of Chris Duhon and Darius Morris in a must-win playoff game.

Thu Apr 25 201300:02Steve Blake leaves w/ right hamstring strain
Steve Blake left Wednesday's Game 2 loss against the Spurs with a strained right hamstring.
Steve Nash was moving at half speed tonight with his own hamstring problems tonight, and the Lakers could be in deep trouble, heading to L.A. in an 0-2 hole. Andrew Goudelock and Darius Morris could see a ton of minutes in Game 3 if Blake and Nash are unable to go. Blake finished with 16 points, six rebounds, two assists and three 3-pointers in the loss.

Sat Apr 20 201312:46Lakers might start Blake and Nash together
The Lakers are leaning toward starting Steve Blake and Steve Nash in the same backourt against the Spurs.
That's assuming of course that Nash's hamstring is good enough for him to play. The idea is an intriguing one considering how hot Blake has been of late. It also wouldn't be the strangest backcourt the Lakers have tried this season considering they turned Kobe Bryant into the point guard and made Nash the shooting guard for long stretches. Also, it's not like Bryant's replacement, Jodie Meeks, has been lighting things up since Kobe went down.

Thu Apr 18 201301:40Steve Blake comes through in Nash's absence
Steve Blake had 24 points, seven boards, seven assists and four 3-pointers on 6-of-20 shooting in Wednesday's dramatic overtime win over the Rockets.
The Lakers will get the struggling Spurs in Round 1 as the No. 7 seed and it remains to be seen if Steve Nash will be ready for Game 1. If not, expect more heroics from Blake until Nash is fully healthy.

Mon Apr 15 201300:00Steve Blake scores 23 pts w/ four 3-pointers
Steve Blake made 8-of-16 FGs, including four 3-pointers, to finish Sunday's victory with 23 points, four assists and two steals.
He also grabbed five rebounds in his 36 minutes of action. Chris Duhon (scoreless in four minutes) hasn't found favor with Mike D'Antoni in spite of the Lakers' injury woes, so Blake should be a lock for heavy playing time in the season finale on Wednesday.

Sat Apr 13 201302:33Steve Blake scores 14 points vs. GSW
Steve Blake played 37 minutes in another start at point guard on Friday and had 14 points, three boards, five assists and four 3-pointers vs. Golden State.
He is going to have the ball in his hands quite a bit now that the Lakers will be without one of the best players ever. Blake can hand out plenty of assists while hitting some threes, so he'll be a must-start guy while Steve Nash (hip, hamstring) is out. He will also get playing time at shooting guard once Nash returns, too.

Thu Apr 11 201300:54Steve Blake picks up big boards in win
Steve Blake played 38 minutes and had eight points, seven rebounds, three assists, a steal and two 3-pointers in Wednesday's tough win at Portland.
Steve Nash is iffy for Friday so Blake could continue to play massive minutes. He's not a must-own fantasy player, but could be serviceable if Nash is out, and his two late offensive rebounds tonight were a big factor in the Lakers' win.

Sun Apr 7 201319:06Steve Blake plays 39 points, scores eight
Steve Blake shot 3-of-8 from the field for eight points during a 109-95 loss to the Clippers on Sunday, adding six boards, two assists, two steals and two 3-pointers in 39 minutes.
The eight points isn't going to catch your eye, but he was useful with the steals and threes. Steve Nash said his status is "tricky" for Tuesday's game against New Orleans, so Blake is worth a look in most sitations.

Wed Apr 3 201301:49Steve Blake looks good in the start Tuesday
Steve Blake played 38 minutes in a start at point guard on Tuesday, scoring 11 points with five boards, one assist, one steal and three 3-pointers.
Steve Nash did not play due to back and hip ailments and Blake did his thing. He set up from 3-point land and seven of his eight field goal attempts came from beyond the arc. Nash is expected to play on Friday, so Blake can be left on the wire in most leagues.

Tue Apr 2 201314:07Steve Blake draws another start Tuesday
Steve Blake will start Tuesday's game against the Mavs.
Steve Nash (hip, hamstring) is out Tuesday and questionable for Friday. Given the three-game night, Blake is definitely worth a spot-start. Over his last ten games, he's averaged 2.3 3-pointers, 4.0 assists and 1.0 steals while playing 30.1 minutes. Blake will likely push for something closer to 36 minutes against Dallas.
