Mon Apr 1 201309:38Steve Blake 'playing free' under D'Antoni
Steve Blake credited his recent success to "playing free" under Mike D'Antoni.
Blake has looked like a natural fit under D'Antoni since returning from his groin injury earlier in the season, and he'll be especially important with Steve Nash banged up right now. "Steve's going to be ready," Kobe Bryant said. Blake played 32 minutes in Saturday's win, scoring 15 points on five three-pointers.

Sun Mar 31 201301:02Steve Blake scores 15 points on five 3s
Stepping up for injured Steve Nash (hip, hamstring), Steve Blake had 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting from downtown in Saturday's win over the Kings.
Blake should play 25-30 minutes if Nash sits out on Tuesday, which is enough burn to expect a handful of points, 3-pointers, assists, and maybe a steal or two. He's probably not worth gambling on until we know Nash's status, so stay tuned.

Sat Mar 23 201301:59Blake (illness) returns to action on Friday
Steve Blake (illness) returned to action on Friday, scoring five points on 2-of-6 shooting with five rebounds and three assists in 20 minutes.
With the Lakers at full strength more or less, Blake has no fantasy value in most formats.

Fri Mar 22 201309:04Steve Blake practices Thursday, ready Friday
Steve Blake (illness) practiced on Thursday and is expected to play on Friday.
Blake missed Wednesday's practice with an illness, but he was back in practice on Thursday and it's not something that will limit him on Friday. He'll have a much smaller role with both Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol expected to return.

Wed Mar 20 201317:05Steve Blake sick, questionable to play Friday
Steve Blake is sick and his status for Friday's game against the Wizards is up in the air.
Blake tweeted Wednesday afternoon that he was under the weather, explaining his absence from practice today. We're guessing that whatever illness sidelined him today will clear up by Friday. Blake's taken on a much larger role in the wake of Kobe Bryant's ankle injury, but Kobe's expected to return to the lineup Friday, meaning Blake would likely return to his minimal role regardless of his health.

Tue Mar 19 201301:32Steve Blake plays 34 minutes vs. Phoenix
Steve Blake played 34 minutes against the Suns on Monday scoring 13 points with one board, four assists, one steal and one 3-pointer.
He's been the clear winner of the Kobe Bryant injury and played in 35 minutes in his previous two games over the weekend. Blake shots the three and can hand out some assists, so might have some short-term value. Although, the Lakers don't play again until Friday and Kobe could be back for that game.

Mon Mar 18 201300:06Steve Blake posts another huge line off bench
Steve Blake had another strong game on Sunday with 16 points, four 3-pointers, five rebounds, eight assists and one steal in 35 minutes.
Blake's surge is great for L.A.'s playoff odds, but he's one of a few Lakers playing on borrowed time. His minutes will take a big hit once Kobe Bryant returns -- Kobe is doubtful for Sunday, but he could return on Friday.

Fri Mar 15 201323:05Blake scores 18 points with full line
Steve Blake came out of nowhere on Friday against the Pacers, scoring 18 points on 5-of-8 shooting (5-of-7 from deep) with six rebounds, seven assists, four steals and two blocks in 35 minutes off the bench.
Blake benefited from an ice-cold Jodie Meeks (0-of-7 FGs) and Kobe Bryant left after playing just 12 minutes. It's possible that Blake can outplay Meeks in theory, but we need to see him do it again before we're dropping anybody of usable value even in deeper formats.

Wed Mar 13 201323:31Steve Blake scores six points on Wednesday
Steve Blake played 34 minutes against the Hawks on Wednesday, scoring six points with four boards, two assists and two 3-pointers.
It was the most minutes he's played in a game with Steve Nash active and the two Steves played side-by-side quite a bit. That trend should continue with Kobe Bryant out and Blake is worth a look in deeper leagues for owners seeking triples and a handful of assists.

Fri Mar 1 201301:59Steve Blake scores season-high 13 points
Steve Blake scored a season-high 13 points in 25 minutes against the Wolves to go with seven boards, six assists and three 3-pointers on Thursday.
His seven boards and three 3-pointers were also a season highs. While it's not exactly easy to correlate to his return, the Lakers 10-5 since Blake came back on January 29 from his abdomen injury. He won't have value in almost any league unless Steve Nash misses time.

Thu Feb 21 201310:01Report: Lakers shopping backup players
The Lakers are shopping Steve Blake, Chris Duhon, Devin Ebanks and Darius Morris for second-round picks, sources told Yahoo! Sports.
The Lakers don't have a lot of flexibility and have too much money tied up in backups who aren't part of the rotation, but it's hard to imagine any team willingly giving up much, if anything, for anyone listed here. If the Lakers do make a move before the deadline, it will probably be a very minor one.

Steve Blake conceded that he may need offseason surgery on his groin.
"If the pain doesn't go away, it's something I might end up having to have surgery again," Blake said. "We'll figure that out when we get there. Hopefully it will heal itself."

Wed Jan 30 201302:36Steve Blaker back in action on Tuesday
Steve Blake returned from his abdominal injury Tuesday and had two points, two rebounds and four assists on 1-of-2 shooting in just 13 minutes.
Blake is back, but virtually every starting Laker is passing the ball like a point guard right now, meaning Blake isn't going to be worth a look in fantasy leagues.

Steve Blake (abdomen, groin) practiced with the team on Saturday and could return against New Orleans on Tuesday.
"I think he's got a shot," Mike D'Antoni said about Blake playing on Tuesday. He's been out since November 11 and should resume most of the backup duties behind Steve Nash. He can be left on almost all waiver wires.

Fri Jan 25 201314:17Steve Blake almost ready for 5-on-5
Steve Blake (abdomen, groin) has been cleared to play 2-on-2 Friday.

Thu Jan 24 201318:02Steve Blake wants to see how he feels Friday
Steve Blake (abdomen, groin) said he had a good workout Thursday, but will wait to see how he feels Friday before determining his status going forward.
Blake, who's been sidelined since Nov. 11, received a cortisone shot on Sunday to try to help as he recovers from surgery. He was slated to be re-evaluated when the Lakers returned from their three-game road trip, which ended Wednesday night. He'll spell Steve Nash when he returns, but offers zero fantasy value barring an injury to Nash.

Thu Jan 17 201320:37Steve Blake will get cortisone shot Sunday
Steve Blake (abdomen, groin) will receive a cortisone shot on Sunday and will be re-evaluated when the team returns from their upcoming road trip.
The Lakers have three road games on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday before returning home to face the Jazz on Friday. Blake has been out since November 11 and he will help spell Steve Nash upon his return. He'll have little to no value in fantasy leagues while Nash is healthy.

Thu Jan 17 201309:54Steve Blake has breakthrough at practice
Steve Blake (abdomen, groin) said that he had a "breakthrough" at Wednesday's practice.
"it gave me a little confidence to say, 'Maybe I can do it,'" Blake said after practice. We'll see how Blake feels on Thursday in order to gauge a timetable, but the Lakers are not putting a target date on his return. Chris Duhon will continue to back up Steve Nash while Blake is out.
