Carlos Delfino (groin) will not play against the Blazers on Friday.

Delfino dealt with a groin injury last year and it cost him a handful of games. Chandler Parsons has already been playing 38 minutes per game and he could clear the 40-minute mark tonight. Toney Douglas and Marcus Morris could also pick up some scraps for the Rockets.

This was his best outing and McHale finally let him loose tonight. However, McHale has driven owners crazy with his funky rotation, so even though Delfino has some upside for threes, owners should draft him at their own peril. We'd suggest letting him go undrafted in most formats.

Delfino opened with a 1-of-8 stinker from the field on Wednesday but settled in nicely tonight. With a 26-30 mpg role whether starting or coming off the bench, Delfino is a strong bet to return late-round value. It's worth noting that Delfino saw 23 minutes in the preseason opener when Jeremy Lamb (foot) wasn't sidelined like he was tonight.

Delfino's arrival was slightly delayed, but he's now arrived in training camp where he'll compete for minutes at both small forward and shooting guard. Owners in need of 3-pointers toward the end of their draft can give Delfino a long look, and his value will go up if he winds up in the starting lineup.

Delfino is still 30 years old should be in good shape after playing for Argentina in the Olympics, but he needs training camp to adapt to new teammates and Kevin McHale's system. He remains a promising value pick in the late rounds, thanks to his voluminous 3-point totals.

Delfino is expected to join camp "a day or two" late, so we're not pegging this as a big deal for the free-agent acquisition. Delfino will compete for minutes at SF with Chandler Parsons, but he should also see some time at SG as well.

Delfino missed 12 games last season and 33 games in the 2010-2011 season due to injuries. His range as a shooter makes sense on paper for the Rockets, but he will still need to have a good camp to be an impact player. We'll be keeping an eye on him as a player that can help in the three-point made category.

The Rockets' deal with Carlos Delfino is for $3 million in the first year and a team option second year for an additional $3 million.

Delfino has had problems staying healthy with concussion issues and, more recently, with a groin injury, but has a versatile game and could contribute in multiple categories if he were to carve out playing time in Houston. As it stands now, Delfino will have to work his way into that role, but he is someone to keep an eye on in training camp and early in the season.

There have been reports of the Rockets going after Delfino for a while and they reportedly signed him to a one-year deal with a team option on the second year. The Argentine had an up-and-down campaign in 2012 for the Bucks. The highs included 2.1 treys per game in February and the lows had him at just 22.7 minutes per game and 6.4 points per game in April. The Rockets could certainly use his range and he will compete with Chandler Parsons at small forward. He's got some work to do to become someone worth drafting in standard 12-team leagues.

We reported two weeks ago that the Rockets were the only team with a standing offer for Delfino (a two-year deal, with the second year unguaranteed), but at the time he didn't seem satisfied with the salary and/or length of the deal. The Celtics would love to sign him but don't have enough cap space, and we haven't heard anything recently about the Suns or Pacers, both of whom previously expressed interest.

Celtics coach Doc Rivers had high praise for unrestricted FA Carlos Delfino, admitting that his team has looked into the possibility of signing him.

"We've looked, and I wish we had the money to add him," Rivers told Ole, an Argentinian website. "We could really use him." The Celtics have a fairly full roster, and with just the veteran's minimum or the biannual exception available, it appears unlikely that Boston will have a space for Delfino. The team had previously expressed interest in the swingman, but that was prior to the addition of Courtney Lee.
