Sun Jul 15 201217:19Suns successfully claim Scola off waivers
The Suns have submitted a successful waiver claim for Luis Scola.
The deal must be three years and worth at least $10 million to offset the unguaranteed portion of Scola's deal with the Rockets, who recently waived him. It's a sneaky pickup for the Suns, who otherwise had only Channing Frye (who could miss the start of the season with a shoulder injury), Hakim Warrick and Markieff Morris at PF.

Sun Jul 15 201215:57Mavs 'leaning strongly' toward Scola offer
The Mavericks are "leaning strongly" toward bidding on recently-waived Luis Scola, but aren't optimistic that they'll outbid other teams.
We won't have to wait long to find out, as final waiver bids must be submitted to the league by 5pm EST.

Sat Jul 14 201211:40Cavaliers 'weighing a bid' for Luis Scola
The Cavaliers are "weighing a bid" for recently-waived Luis Scola, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.
Stein goes on to say, "Any team that bids for Scola must commit to minimum of $3+ million in Year 1 & $10+ million over three years." It's a significant sum which would directly offset money he's owed by the Rockets, but Cleveland's frontcourt would certainly improve if they acquired Scola, who is still playing at a high level. The Mavericks, who just landed Elton Brand for $2.1 million, may also make a bid for Scola.

Fri Jul 13 201221:04Report: Mavs still interested in Luis Scola
The Mavs are still interested in Luis Scola despite picking up Elton Brand off the amnesty wire on Friday.
Had the Mavs not acquired Elton Brand for just $2.1 million, we'd be more inclined to shoot this report down. If the rest of the league is asleep at the switch or cannot afford an offer on Scola, the Mavs may just get lucky, but it makes sense that a team with a greater need in their frontcourt antes up.

Fri Jul 13 201215:48Source: Scola officially amnestied by Rockets
Marc Stein of ESPN is reporting that sources with knowledge of the move are saying that Luis Scola has been officially released using the amnesty clause by the Rockets on Friday.
This signifies that the Rockets are going all in on the Dwight Howard trade sweepstakes. By clearing Scola off their books, it means that Houston can take on three of the four of the Magic's bad contracts - Jason Richardson, Glen Davis, Chris Duhon and Hedo Turkoglu - in any potential trade for Howard. Releasing Scola and his career averages of 14.5 ppg and 7.7 rpg is certainly a risky move by Rockets' GM Daryl Morey, but he is doing everything necessary to put his team in the position to land Howard, extension-guarantee or not.

Thu Jul 12 201221:25Luis Scola not likely to receive amnesty bid
Eric Pincus wrote Thursday that Luis Scola is not likely to receive an amnesty bid.
Scola's last year is not guaranteed for $10 million and according to salary cap guru Larry Coon that means his minimum annual salary must be that amount times three years. It's very unlikely that he will see an offer like that, so Scola will likely pass through amnesty waivers and become a free agent. Darko Milicic, whose minimum offer would be $3.9 million per year for two years, is also expected to pass through amnesty waivers.

Thu Jul 12 201219:50Mavs interested in amnestied Luis Scola
The Mavs are reportedly interested in soon-to-be amnestied Luis Scola.
The Mavs are also putting a bid in for amnestied Elton Brand, whose remaining one year will provide the winner of that bid more flexibility than the remaining three years on Scola's deal. Early on it appears doubtful that the Mavs could land both players.

Thu Jul 12 201218:28Report: Rockets to amnesty Luis Scola
The Rocket have decided to waive PF Luis Scola using the amnesty clause, according to Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski.
This is pretty big news, but maybe the Rockets are as displeased with Scola's lock of shot blocking as his fantasy owners are. This could be big news for rookie Royce White, while Patrick Patterson would also see a much bigger role without Scola around. Despite his shot blocking deficiency, he's averaged 14.5 points and 7.7 rebounds in his NBA career and has only missed eight games in five years. He's going to be a very hot commodity off the amnesty wire.

Sat Jun 30 201214:13Report: HOU shopping Scola, Lowry & Martin
The Rockets are "actively looking to trade" Luis Scola and have made Kyle Lowry and Kevin Martin available, according to ESPN.com sources.
No surprise here. Houston has repeatedly failed in their grand design to land a post-Yao superstar, but they certainly aren't going to stop trying. They may feel more comfortable trading Scola now that they've drafted forwards Royce White and Terrence Jones, and by dangling their three best players it's clear the Rockets are looking for an overhaul.

Fri Apr 27 201211:44Morey: Rockets need to land a star player
The "primary goal" for the Rockets during the offseason is to land a star player.
Houston wants to find a star who is capable of being the "foundation" of the rebuilding process, and after striking out on Pau Gasol and Dwight Howard, the team will continue to look for a player of that caliber. It won't be easy, but Daryl Morey has shown a very real willingness to execute trades previously and we wouldn't put anything by him.

Tue Apr 3 201200:30Luis Scola posts 18-12-6 line vs. Bulls
Luis Scola scored 18 points on 9-of-17 shooting with 12 rebounds, six assists, two steals, and three blocks in the Rockets' win over the Bulls on Monday.
Life is all about timing, and after an awful year Scola has now flirted with early round value over the past two weeks.

Tue Mar 27 201201:49Scola double-doubles against the Kings
Luis Scola scored 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting with 14 rebounds, three assists, and one steal in the Rockets' overtime win over the Kings on Monday.
It hasn't been pretty, but Scola has pulled himself out of the fantasy gutter over the past month or so. As they say, better late than never.

Sun Mar 11 201221:01Luis Scola scores 30 points in Rockets' loss
Luis Scola drained 15-of-25 FGs for a game-high 30 points on Sunday, adding eight rebounds in a tough loss to the Cavaliers.
The Rockets have made no secret of their willingness to trade Scola, and they nearly did so with the Chris Paul trade that was scuttled by the Hornets/league office. No matter where he finishes the season, he should continue to provide steady if underwhelming fantasy value.

Sun Mar 4 201222:17Scola double-doubles against Griffin
Luis Scola, who was injured in his last game and took stitches to his face, hit 6-of-11 shots for 16 points, 12 rebounds, two steals and zero blocks in Sunday's OT loss to the Clippers.
Scola and Blake Griffin (5-of-14, 14 & 11) had a nice head-to-head battle, and while Scola's numbers were better, Griffin's Clippers got the win. Scola has blocked just three shots in his last 14 games, but has double-doubled in four of his last five.

Fri Mar 2 201220:33Scola takes elbow to the face; status unknown
Luis Scola took an elbow to the face in the first half of Friday's game against the Nuggets and is currently being evaluated.
Scola was elbowed by Arron Afflalo and went immediately to the locker room. Should Scola go down for any amount of time, both Patrick Patterson and Sameul Dalembert will be the prime beneficiaries.

Thu Mar 1 201201:41Scola has double-double in bad loss
Luis Scola had 18 points and 10 rebounds on 9-of-18 shooting in Wednesday's ugly loss to the Jazz.
Scola has double-doubled in three straight games and while he hasn't blocked a shot in any of them, he's at least in the good graces of Kevin McHale.

Tue Feb 21 201201:21Scola scores 10 points; pulled in fourth qtr
Luis Scola played just 21 minutes in Monday's win, scoring 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting with two rebounds, two assists, and one block before getting yanked in the third quarter.
Scola was pulled when he got his fourth foul mid-way through the third quarter, and unless there's a late report of an injury it's likely that Kevin McHale just went away from him. It's disappointing after the 26-point, nine-rebound outing Scola posted on Sunday, highlighting the tenuous value of most Rockets these days.

Sun Feb 19 201221:40Luis Scola finally gets going for Rockets
Luis Scola was terrific vs. the Jazz on Sunday, scoring 26 points (12-of-20 shooting) with nine rebounds, three assists and one steal in 39 minutes.
It's a nice bounce-back effort after playing just 22 foul-plagued minutes vs. the Wolves on Friday. Scola has been a disappointment this season, barely earning his spot on most fantasy rosters, so hopefully he'll start playing with greater consistency after the All-Star break.

Sun Feb 12 201223:38Luis Scola grabs season-high 13 rebounds
Luis Scola finally got going on Sunday, scoring 14 points and hauling in a season-high 13 rebounds in 33 minutes vs. the Warriors.
Scola hadn't posted double-digit rebounds since January 14th, and played under 28 minutes in seven of the previous nine games. Patrick Patterson (nine points, seven rebounds) is good enough to continually threaten Scola's playing time, and Kevin McHale is unpredictable to say the least, so he's not exactly out of the woods.

Fri Feb 10 201200:02Luis Scola plays 23 minutes in win
Luis Scola played just 23 minutes on Thursday, finishing with 16 points and six rebounds on 8-of-17 shooting.
Scola's averaging over 30 minutes per game, but played 26 on Wednesday and 23 tonight, both of which were road wins for the Rockets. Scola looks to be exempt from an outright benching like Kevin Martin is getting, but Kevin McHale is infatuated with his bench right now. Patrick Patterson, Jordan Hill and Chase Budinger all got more minutes than Scola in this one, but ignore that fact and keep him in your lineup until further notice.
