Wed Apr 13 201100:39Douglas scores 13 points off the bench
Toney Douglas scored 13 points on 4-of-15 shooting (1-of-7 from downtown) with five rebounds, three assists, and four steals in 29.5 minutes off the bench on Tuesday.
His night could have been bigger and better, and he should be in most lineups on Wednesday for his expected performance -- with or without Chauncey Billups playing a full slate of minutes.

Tue Apr 5 201123:45Toney Douglas gets hot off the bench again
Toney Douglas got hot off of the bench once again on Tuesday and logged 28 points on 10-of-15 shooting (six threes) with one rebound, five assists, and two steals.
Anytime he hits six threes in a contest, owners aren't even going to care about anything else he does. He deserves to be rostered in almost all leagues despite the fact that he is coming off of the bench. Douglas is far more valuable than someone like teammate Landry Fields.

Sat Mar 26 201122:15Douglas starts, but Knicks lose again
Toney Douglas started alongside Chauncey Billups on Saturday but hit just 2-of-8 shots for five points, four rebounds, two assists and a three in 15 minutes.
It was easy to get excited about him starting, but the 15 minutes obviously killed his value. He replaced Landry Fields in the starting unit, but regardless of his role, he needs 25 minutes a game to be worth holding. He played 35 minutes on Friday, so we're still not sure what Mike D'Antoni's deal was tonight. Shelden Williams and Fields started the second half, and given the fact the Knicks are just 1-9 in their last 10, and have lost six straight, the lineup tinkering is probably not over.

Sat Mar 26 201118:26Toney Douglas to start at PG on Saturday
Toney Douglas will start for the Knicks again on Saturday, moving Chauncey Billups to SG and Landry Fields to the bench.
The move is apparently designed to better defend opposing PGs, though whether Billups can stay with the league's SGs has yet to be determined. Douglas becomes a very nice spot-start, but knowing Mike D'Antoni this change may not last very long.

Sat Mar 26 201101:40Douglas scores 16 points off the bench
Toney Douglas started the second half of Friday's game due to Chauncey Billups' inability to cover Brandon Jennings, and finished with 16 points on 6-of-17 shooting (including two threes) with four rebounds, two assists, and one steal in 35 minutes.
Douglas owners were hoping for better news than this, as the change probably isn't the result of him leapfrogging Landry Fields, and thus any gains will be either temporary or redeemable only against teams with quick PGs. However, it is his second strong game and by virtue of that, he's well worth a look.

Fri Mar 25 201121:14Toney Douglas starts the second half on Fri
Toney Douglas started the second half of Friday's game in place of Landry Fields, and currently has 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting (including a three) with two rebounds, two assists, and a steal in 23 minutes of action at the 3-minute mark of the third quarter.
Fields' slide continues as he has just seven points on 3-of-5 shooting (no threes) with three rebounds and one assist in 15 minutes, and we've been seeing elements of this over the past few games. Douglas was sliding until Wednesday's 17-point, five-rebound outing in which he hit three treys, and a strong finish here could make him a strong add by the end of the night.

Tue Mar 22 201101:24Douglas slump deepens against Boston
Toney Douglas showed his first signs of slumping on Sunday, and then followed it up with a brutal performance on Monday against the Celtics with five points on 2-of-7 shooting (no threes) with one rebound, four assists, and one steal in 20 minutes.
We understand that tonight's game took on a playoff atmosphere, and Mike D'Antoni shortened his rotations tonight, but that's not paying the bills for Douglas' owners. We expect his minutes and production to jump back up in the Knicks' next game, especially with Shawne Williams dealing with a torn ligament in his shooting hand, but Douglas is no longer a must-own player.

Mon Mar 21 201109:13Toney Douglas cools off on Sunday
Toney Douglas hit just 3-of-13 shots for seven points in 29 minutes on Sunday.
The good news is the minutes were there, but Douglas was due for an off night. He'd scored 20, 29 and 17 points in his previous three games, but did have nine assists and two steals, just a couple nights after handing out a career-high 11 assists. He'll struggle with his shot once every few games, but is still a near must-add player in fantasy right now.

Sat Mar 19 201100:11Toney Douglas posts double-double in loss
Toney Douglas stayed hot on Friday, hitting 8-of-14 shots and four more 3-pointers for 20 points, five rebounds and a career high of 11 assists off the bench.
He's been rolling, even coming off the bench behind Chauncey Billups and Landry Fields, and given the Knicks four-game schedule from here on out, is worth owning in most leagues going forward.

Thu Mar 17 201122:09Toney Douglas drains nine 3's against Griz
Toney Douglas caught fire Thursday, shooting 9-of-12 from downtown to finish with 29 points in 31 minutes off the bench.
He'll be a hot pick-up again after this performance. Feel free to grab him if you've got room, and he may be able to maintain some value as the key reserve for the Knicks.

Tue Mar 15 201122:08Toney Douglas scores 17 points off the bench
Toney Douglas scored 17 points off the bench on Tuesday, hitting 5-of-11 shots from the field (including four treys) with three rebounds, four assists, and two steals in 29 minutes.
His return to the bench on Sunday was a 1-for-12 effort, and while the inconsistency is noted, the takeaway is that his role appears to be somewhat solidified. There's no reason he can't have similar nights going forward, so if this type of line can help you then give him a long look.

Sun Mar 13 201121:28Douglas goes 1-for-12 with Billups back
Toney Douglas went 1-of-12 from the field Sunday in 26.7 minutes off the bench.
With Chauncey Billups back, Douglas lost his shooting touch. It's probably just a coincidence, but the bottom line is that Douglas is a poor bet to top 28 minutes at any point going forward. And without the ball in his hands as much, he's safe to drop.

Sun Mar 13 201116:50Douglas to remain a key player in rotation
With the return of Chauncey Billups to the starting lineup, Toney Douglas will return to the bench but is expected to retain a key role in the rotation.
Douglas earned his stripes and will be rewarded with being the first player off the bench in D'Antoni's rotation. While Douglas will not see the same opportunity that starting provided, owners would be wise to wait before dropping him.

Fri Mar 11 201101:03Toney Douglas plays well in his final start
In what was likely his final start before Chauncey Billups returns, Toney Douglas was great again with 18 points, two 3-pointers, and three assists.
Nice job if you ran him this week, but the clock is up on him starting Sunday. If Chauncey is unable to go, Douglas will remain a good option on a game-to-game basis.

Thu Mar 10 201101:37Toney Douglas hands out career-high 10 dimes
Toney Douglas handed out a career-high 10 assists in his fifth start for Chauncey Billups (thigh, knee) on Wednesday, and also added 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting (including four treys) with one rebound and one steal.
He is helping owners that grabbed him off the wire in a big way right now, and owners would be wise to plan on holding him until Billups makes it through at least one game without suffering any setbacks. Douglas could roll the momentum into a less-valuable, but useful role off the bench, and owners will kick themselves if they drop him early a la Kyle Lowry earlier in the year.

Tue Mar 8 201100:22Douglas gets more fill-in action for Billups
Toney Douglas got another start at PG with Chauncey Billups (thigh) out on Monday, and scored 20 points on 6-of-9 shooting (including five treys) with three rebounds and six assists in just 23 minutes.
Yes, this is a best-case scenario for him, and owners need to ride it out until Billups returns in the near future. In fact, owners would be wise to stick it out for an additional game after Billups' return, just to see if the hot streak can translate to his role off the bench, too.

Sat Mar 5 201103:06Douglas starts for injured Billups (thigh)
Toney Douglas started for injured Chauncey Billups (thigh) again on Friday, and scored 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting (including a three) with five rebounds and five assists in 31 minutes.
No surprises here, but the real question is whether or not Douglas can parley this into some momentum when he returns to the bench. We're viewing him as a short-term add only, and somebody to consider as a flier in a 14-team league, and nothing more.

Thu Mar 3 201100:45Toney Douglas catches fire w/o Billups
Toney Douglas started at point guard in place of Chauncey Billups and hit 10-of-13 shots and four 3-pointers for 24 points, four rebounds, five assists and a steal in Wednesday's cakewalk over the Hornets.
Douglas had a similar game back on Feb. 23, and hadn't been heard from since until tonight. Billups is day-to-day with his injury and we'd expect Douglas to fade back into oblivion once he's back in action. Douglas is capable of this on any given night, but getting him to do it consistently is another story. Hopefully you grabbed him and put him in your lineup with Billups out, but he's not a safe start after Chaucney is back - which could be Friday.

Tue Mar 1 201123:46Douglas, Carter could replace Billups if hurt
Toney Douglas scored two points off the bench on Tuesday, hitting 1-of-6 shots from the field to go with one steal and one assist in 19 minutes.
The bench scored a combined 11 points so the issue was widespread, and while he has no standalone value right now, he could be worth a look if Chauncey Billups can't play on Wednesday, as feared. Anthony Carter scored two points on free throws and added three boards, two assists, and two steals while missing all three field goals in 16 minutes, and could also be thrust into action Wednesday, as well.

Sat Feb 26 201102:35Douglas, Williams go cold off the bench
Toney Douglas, who scored 23 points in Wednesday's game, scored just two points on 1-of-8 shooting with four rebounds, four assists, and two steals in 30 minutes off the bench on Friday.
Both he and Shawne Williams (two points, 1-of-6 shooting) are worth watching to see if they can scratch any value after the exodus, but nights like these aren't going to help. They're waiver wire fodder until they can prove otherwise.
