Sat Nov 17 201221:40Jan Vesely starts at PF for Wizards on Sat.
Jan Vesely played 22 minutes in a start at PF on Saturday, replacing Trevor Booker, and he finished with five points, five rebounds and two blocks.
Vesely came into this game averaging 2.4 points, while racking up a ridiculous 3.0 personal fouls per 14 minutes. He looked better tonight but was inexplicably absent from the rotation down the stretch, and we're leaving him on the waiver wire until he shows us something.

Sat Nov 17 201218:31Jan Vesely starts at power forward Saturday
Jan Vesely will start at power forward for the Wizards on Saturday.
Trevor Booker will come off the bench. Vesely has been quiet so far this year with just 2.4 points per game in only 13.4 minutes. He was a threat to start during training camp, but it was squandered by sub-par play. We still like Kevin Seraphin as a more valuable asset in the Wizards frontcourt and perhaps he logs bigger minutes with the second unit.

Sat Nov 10 201221:37Jan Vesely plays just four minutes vs. Pacers
Jan Vesely was scoreless in a season-low four minutes off the bench on Saturday.
Vesely was actually in the running for a starting gig during training camp, but obviously hasn't convinced the Wizards' coaching staff that he's improved sufficiently in his second season. Washington may eventually turn him loose, but until then fantasy owners should avoid him like the plague.

Sat Oct 27 201202:23Vesely scores 13 in final preseason game
Jan Vesely hit 5-of-8 shots for 13 points, four rebounds and a steal in 22 minutes on Friday.
He's battling with Trevor Booker for the starting power forward job and it's still unclear as to who will be out there on opening night. But at this point, Vesely isn't worth owning in most leagues.

Thu Oct 25 201201:46Vesely grabs 11 boards and scores 4
Jan Vesely scored four points and grabbed 11 reboounds in 23 minutes on Wednesday.
Vesely was the butt of a lot of jokes for fouling out of a Summer League game with 10 fouls, but let's not forget he's a talented lottery pick. He'll need a few things to fall his way to have value in standard leagues this year.

Fri Oct 19 201213:45Wizards exercise Jan Vesely's contract option
Wizards exercised Jan Vesely's 2013-14 contract option.
Vesely, like the majority of players on their rookie deals, will get his third-year contract option exercised by the team. The 2011 lottery pick has been extremely underwhelming in the preseason and has admitted that he's "not focused" on the game at times when he's on the court. He's got a long way to go to be relevant in standard leagues.

Wed Oct 17 201214:47Wizards coach upset with Jan Vesely's effort
Wizards coach Randy Wittman was upset by Jan Vesely's lack of effort and energy during Monday's loss to the Nets, something Vesely didn't deny.
"Sometimes, I feel like, I'm not focused in my game," said Vesely, the overall No. 6 pick in 2011. "I just need to play hard and put everything in the game ... [Wittman] let me know he trusts me. So I try to do my best to put it on the court." Washington would happily find minutes to develop their lottery pick, especially with Nene and Trevor Booker both injured, but there are too many warning flags to bother drafting Vesely in fantasy leagues -- in addition to his wavering intensity, he's a poor jump shooter, he committed 2.7 fouls in 19 minutes per game last year, and he shot 53 percent from the FT line.

Tue Oct 16 201200:34Vesely struggles for the Wizards again
Jan Vesely went hitless from the field on three shot attempts in Monday's exhibition loss to the Nets, finishing with zero points, five rebounds, and one steal in 27 minutes.
The Washington media has been using the 'bust' word in hushed tones, and there is criticism about Vesely's inability to put on weight over the summer. He is far off the fantasy radar.

Thu Oct 11 201215:22Jan Vesely recovered from sore Achilles
Jan Vesely has fully recovered from a sore Achilles that bothered him this summer.
Vesely is working hard to improve his jump shot, after shooting a troubling 9-of-58 from outside of the paint last season. He's also trying to avoid unnecessary fouls, after racking up a whopping 27 fouls in four Summer League games. There are too many 'ifs' to bother drafting Vesely in standard fantasy formats.

Thu Jul 19 201211:40Jan Vesely's jumper has definitely improved
Beat writer Michael Lee believes Jan Vesely's jumper has "certainly improved."
According to Lee, Vesely's confidence is also up and he's showing more than being just a dunker. Vesely is working on his low post moves and has aspirations to become a more complete player than he showed during his rookie season. He'll need to cut down his fouling to stay on the floor, as he committed 27 fouls in "roughly four games" during summer league.

Wed Jul 18 201222:16Jan Vesely scratced from SL w/ ankle sprain
Jan Vesely missed Wednesday's Summer League game with a sprained right ankle.
It's believed to be a minor sprain and Vesely, who could start for the Wizards, should be fine by the start of training camp.

Mon Jun 18 201211:46Jan Vesely committed to improving jumper
Jan Vesely said that he is devoting his offseason to work on his shooting.
"I devote my summer to improve my shooting," he said. "I'll try to refine my shot every day." Vesely admitted that he'll probably never be an "excellent shooter," but he wants to get comfortable with it so he's not afraid to take an open jumper. It's good to see that he wants to improve after averaging 6.9 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.2 steals on 52 percent shooting over 20 starts.

Wed May 23 201210:46Jan Vesley opens up about rookie season
Jan Vesely said that his rookie year was a "hard season for me, a hard fist year."
Vesely suffered from a hip ailment right out of the gate, and without training camp, he really struggled to get integrated into the mix right away. However, Vesely excelled down the stretch, averaging 8.5 points on 55.1 percent shooting over 15 games down the stretch. Vesely plans to work on his perimeter shot so he can open things up for himself inside, but he sounds encouraged for next year. When asked about how the end of the season was different from the beginning, Vesely said, "we really worked hard and played team basketball."

Fri Apr 27 201203:30Vesely provides sneaky numbers on last day
Jan Vesely scored 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting with eight rebounds, three steals, and one block in the Wizards' 104-70 blowout win over the Heat's split squad on Thursday.
Vesely and many of his teammates have ended the season on a strong note, which isn't surprising given the trades sending Nick Young and JaVale McGee out while bringing Nene in. John Wall had seven points with two steals and 12 assists, Cartier Martin started and scored 12 points with two steals and two threes, and Kevin Seraphin had 15 points but just three boards in the win.

Wed Apr 25 201208:12Randy Wittman praises rookie Jan Vesely
Randy Wittman heaped praise on Jan Vesely for being more aggressive.
"He's putting the ball on the floor. We've seen him shoot from the outside more than we have at any point in the start of the year," said Wittman. Vesley is averaging 8.4 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.0 steals in April and has looked much more comfortable than he did earlier this season.

Tue Apr 17 201203:54Vesely scores six points with four boards
Jan Vesely scored six points on 3-of-8 shooting with four rebounds, two steals, and one block in 22 minutes on Monday against the Bulls.
This is 'bad Vesely,' though the defensive stats buoy the otherwise lackluster line. He's producing enough to be worth a look in 14-16 team leagues, but that's about it.

Sat Apr 14 201221:47Jan Vesely double-doubles in loss
Jan Vesely had 11 points, 11 rebounds, a steal and a block on 5-of-10 shooting in Saturday's loss.
He also had an 11 & 11 dub-dub on Monday, but totaled just five points and 14 rebounds in the two games in between them. He's hit or miss, but is getting heavy minutes and could be worth an add in deeper leagues, but keep in mind the Wiz only go three times next week.

Tue Apr 10 201217:18Jan Vesely's outside shot a work in progress
Jan Vesely has made just 3-of-24 shots from beyond nine feet this season.
Vesely was the No. 6 overall pick in the draft even though he simply can't shoot. According to beat writer Michael Lee, Vesely's "offensive repertoire is still restricted to layups and dunks." The Czech product has managed just 6.2 points per game in his 11 starts, even though he's logging 25.5 minutes a night in that role.

Sat Apr 7 201201:08Vesely scores four points with five boards
Jan Vesely scored just four points on 2-of-6 shooting with five rebounds, one turnover, and no other statistics in Friday's loss.
Vesely had one of his good nights with 10 points, five boards, a steal, and a block on Thursday, and this is one of his bad nights. He needs an offseason to hone his skills, and he'll be facing the dreaded bust label heading into next year.

Thu Apr 5 201222:52Vesely scores 10 points with five boards
Jan Vesely scored 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting with five rebounds, one steal, and one block in 30 minutes on Thursday.
This is a decent expectation of what will happen on a good night for Vesely, and he's still just a borderline player in deep leagues as long as he's starting.
