Vonleh (hernia) is hopeful that he'll receive full medical clearance in 2-to-3 weeks, the Charlotte Observer reports.
During a pickup game at Indiana University, where he spent his freshman season, Vonleh endured a "pop," which was eventually revealed to be a sports hernia. Currently, he can work out on an elliptical machine, perform light shooting, and jog. Even if he follows the 6-to-8 week timetable given after completion of surgery on Sept. 2, there's little reason to believe that he'll land a rotation spot to start the season, especially since he's already behind the eight ball.

Vonleh (hernia) has begun doing some on-court work, Rick Bonnell of the CHarlotte Observer reports.
Vonleh sustained a sports hernia in early September and remains on track to return in mid-October. He'll likely continue to perform light, on-court drills for the couple of weeks before ramping up his activity as the preseason gets underway. Outside of Vonleh, the Hornets are completely healthy entering camp.

Vonleh had surgery Tuesday to treat a sports hernia and will miss six-to-eight weeks, the Charlotte Observer's Rick Bonnell reports.
He'll miss all of training camp as a result of the surgery, which likely means he'll have a hard time playing any kind of major role for the Hornets early in the season. There's no denying Vonleh's physical tools and well-rounded skill set, but he will take time to develop, and should be an afterthought on draft day.
Fri Jul 25 201415:59Hornets officially sign Noah Vonleh
The Hornets officially signed Noah Vonleh on Friday.
While the talent is there for Vonleh, Hornets coach Steve Clifford has stated repeatedly that he will be brought along slowly. It appears that Marvin Williams and Cody Zeller will be ahead of Vonleh in the rotation, and he's not likely to have a large impact on the 2014-15 fantasy season.

Mon Jul 21 201416:38Noah Vonleh not set to have significant role
Hornets coach Steve Clifford said that while rookies Noah Vonleh and P.J. Hairston have "starter's talent" they will not have a significant role with the team next season.
Clifford has really driven the point home this offseason that Vonleh will be brought along slowly, so owners should really temper their expectations as it looks like it might take an injury to Vonleh to see some serious time on the court. Hairston is going to be competing for minutes behind Lance Stephenson, Gary Neal, and Gerald Henderson, so he too will have a tough time contributing meaningful numbers on a nightly basis. It looks like both promising rookies have departed from the standard league conversation.

Sat Jul 19 201418:41Vonleh puts up a nice double-double
Noah Vonleh kept his improvement trend going on Saturday, scoring 12 points with 10 boards and one block in 28 minutes.
He showed some great awareness and low-post presence today. Vonleh started his summer league with an 0-of-13 showing, but then put up three double-doubles in his next five games. The ceiling is there for the 2014 lottery pick once he puts on some extra size. It may just take a year before he really makes a splash.

Thu Jul 17 201417:58Vonleh scores six points in win vs. Pelicans
Noah Vonleh scored six points and grabbed five rebounds in the Hornets' 104-75 win over the Pelicans.
Vonleh has been wildly inconsistent during his five Summer League games in Las Vegas. He struggled with foul trouble on Thursday, tallying six fouls in 17 minutes of action. It is also alarming that he did not manage a single assist, steal, or block during his time on the court. Hornets coach Steve Clifford has already hinted at Vonleh coming of the bench during the regular season, and it is clear that the young power forward prospect still has a lot of developing to do.

Tue Jul 15 201420:50Noah Vonleh likely to come off Hornets' bench
Hornets coach Steve Clifford strongly implied that he will bring No. 9 pick Noah Vonleh off the bench to begin his NBA career.
Charlotte's rookie will undoubtedly have a substantial role but it makes sense for the Hornets to ease their 18-year-old into the mix, and this helps to explain why they're paying Marvin Williams $7 million per season. "We're trying to win. It's not fair to throw him out there night after night against starters," Clifford said. "That's also not fair to Al Jefferson, Kemba Walker, Gerald Henderson, etc ... I can make a really healthy argument that sometimes when guys are given too much [opportunity] they haven't worked for, it very much hurts their development." Fantasy owners should scale back expectations accordingly.

Sun Jul 13 201420:03Noah Vonleh grabs 18 boards, scores 10
Noah Vonleh bounced back from his horrific debut with a 10-point, 18-board game on Sunday, adding four turnovers, eight fouls and one 3-pointer on 3-of-10 shooting.
He was excellent in the post and recognized the double-teams quickly. Vonleh also showed some touch and the Hornets clearly want him to be able to succeed away from the basket. Obviously, the rookie was phenomenal on the glass and pulled down a lot of hustle boards. This is the Vonleh we were expecting, so we'll see what he has in store vs. the Knicks on Monday.

Fri Jul 11 201422:52Noah Vonleh shoots 0-of-13 from the field
Noah Vonleh missed all 13 of his shots from the field and missed both free throw attempts vs. the Warriors on Friday.
Yikes. He also had six boards, one steal, three blocks, three turnovers and five fouls in 32 minutes. Vonleh was a fantastic jump shooter at Indiana last year, making 46 percent of his jumpers, but he rushed a bunch tonight. Now that Josh McRoberts is out o town, the rookie could be looking at some minutes. He'll look to get better vs. the Kings on Sunday.

Fri Jun 27 201414:59Noah Vonleh excited to play with Jefferson
Noah Vonleh took over the Hornets Twitter feed on Friday, and let it be known that he's excited to be working with Al Jefferson.
"I think I'll compliment [Jefferson] really well. I'm a stretch four and will create space for him to go to work in the post," Vonleh wrote. If Josh McRoberts ends up leaving as a free agent, that would leave Vonleh and Cody Zeller as Charlotte's primary weapons at power forward. McRoberts decision on whether to stay or go will dictate the fantasy appeal of Vonleh's game.

Fri Jun 27 201413:06Noah Vonleh wants to handle the ball a bit?
Noah Vonleh said he played point-forward throughout high school and would like to handle the ball more with the Hornets.
"Growing up I was real versatile," Vonleh said. "I didn't get to do too much of that in college. But handling the ball is something I have always been able to do, and hope to do at the next level." He is one of the best stretch fours in this year's class, but his size and athleticism makes him a solid rim protector on defense. Al Jefferson wasn't the greatest defender around the rim and the Hornets run a lot of their offense through the power forward spot -- Josh McRoberts ranked second in assists per game among power forwards -- so Vonleh is really in a great spot with Charlotte. If McBob doesn't come back, Vonleh would be on the fantasy radar in fantasy leagues.
