F Nikola Mirotic suffered a concussion and a facial laceration that required stitches after he took an accidental elbow to the face while defending a layup in the first quarter Wednesday. He left the game with 7:21 left in the first quarter and did not return.

F Nikola Mirotic originally was not in the starting lineup on Monday against the 76ers. Reinserted at the last minute, he had 20 points and a season-high 10 rebounds as the Bulls beat Philadelphia 111-88. "It was tough for me the last two or three games -- playing without confidence ... playing with fouls," said Mirotic, who averaged 6.8 points on 22.2 percent shooting over his previous four outings. "But I knew I would be back soon enough, with my offense."

F Nikola Mirotic led the Bulls with 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the opener against Cleveland.

Mirotic scored 18 points while grabbing four rebounds and two steals in a 112-94 loss to the Nuggets on Thursday.

That makes for back-to-back 18-point games for Mirotic and it appears he's picking up from where he left off last season. With Derrick Rose, Pau Gasol Taj Gibson, and Mike Dunleavy sitting out, Mirotic should be leading the team in scoring. He was far better last season when most of the roster was injured, but he still has an elite ability to shoot and that's something the Bulls will need this season. Mirotic played just over 20 minutes per game last season in his rookie year and he should have no problem surpassing that number this season.

Mirotic went off for 18 points (5-11 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 7-10 FT) and collected eight rebounds over 24 minutes in Tuesday's preseason victory over the Bucks.

With Pau Gasol receiving rest, Mirotic earned the starting nod at power forward and was able to get several Bucks players in early foul trouble, a skill he frequently displayed during his rookie season. Despite averaging just over 20 minutes per game last season, Mirotic had three games in which he attempted 10 or more free throws. The 24-year-old remains a work in progress defensively, but with Tom Thibodeau out of town along with his notoriously short rotations, Mirotic should take on a greater role for the Bulls in his second NBA season.

Mirotic scored 18 points for Spain in their victory over Greece in the EuroBasket quarterfinals, K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Mirotic looked good in Spain's 73-71 over Greece, including a monster dunk over the Milwaukee Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo. Bulls teammate Pau Gasol had 27 points and nine rebounds for Spain in the same game.

Mirotic has been told he'll have a "more featured role with the team" this coming season, HoopsHype reports.

After the All-Star break last season, the 24-year-old rookie forward averaged 16.0 points, 1.7 three-pointers, 6.3 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.9 blocks in 26 minutes per game through 28 contests. His shooting from the field (41%) and beyond the arc (32%) weren't particularly great last season, but he did well at the free-throw line (80%). If Mirotic is going to have a bigger role under coach Fred Hoiberg this season, his minutes will likely have to come at the expense of either Pau Gasol or Joakim Noah. Mirotic was the 64th-ranked player in 8-category leagues after the All-Star break last season, so if he's going to have a bigger role than that, he could end up having top-50 value this season. While we're not suggesting taking him too high in drafts, yet, he is a player to keep an eye on and to consider drafting in the mid-to-late rounds once the more safe players are off the board.

Mirotic will play for the Spanish national team at EuroBasket 2015 this summer, Feb.es reports.

Mirotic was born in Montenegro, but he's a naturalized citizen of Spain, so he's eligible to play on their national team in EuroBasket. FIBA only allows one naturalized player on a team's roster, so Mirotic's inclusion means Serge Ibaka (Congo native that has played on the Spanish national team) will not be playing in the EuroBasket tournament.

Mirotic played in 82 games for the Bulls this season and averaged 10.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.2 three-pointers a game.

Mirotic really came on late for the Bulls and helped them during a key stretch in the season when the Bulls were missing several players due to injuries. Although he struggled in the playoffs, Mirotic is still going to be a big part of the Bulls future. He is likely to come off the bench again next season behind Pau Gasol, but he would see more playing time if the Bulls decide to move Taj Gibson. There is also an outside chance that he could start at small forward next season depending on what other moves the team makes, but he struggled playing that position at times this year. Mirotic is a player who could be a fantasy sleeper heading into next season.

Coach Tom Thibodeau was non-committal when asked about Mirotic's minutes in Round 2 against Cleveland, K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune reports. "He's going to be situational right now," Thibodeau said. "But we need him."

Mirotic played a major role of the bench in the Bulls' first-round ousting of Milwaukee, logging at least 19 minutes in three of the six games, despite missing a game due to a quad injury. However, he played just eight minutes in the series-clinching Game 6 in Milwaukee and saw only two minutes in Monday's Game 1 victory in Cleveland. Thibodeau turned to Taj Gibson instead of Mirotic on Monday, with Gibson seeing 28 minutes off the bench. The veteran is a better rebounder and interior defender, but Mirotic is much more diverse and a better floor-spacer offensively. It's unlikely Mirotic continues to play only a few minutes, but Thibodeau also didn't offer anything that would suggest his role is set to significantly increase. Until further notice, Mirotic remains a risky daily play.

Mirotic logged eight minutes of work against the Bucks on Thursday in Game 6. He finished with two rebounds and one assist to his credit.

Thursday's eight minutes of action were a playoff-low for Mirotic but that's because the Bulls clobbered the Bucks right from the start and coach Tom Thibodeau emptied his bench. That said, the rookie is averaging just 15.7 minutes on the court thus far in the playoffs off the bench and that's likely around the same amount of minutes he'll see in the upcoming series against the Cavaliers.

Mirotic (quad) isn't suffering any setbacks after returning from injury and "should be good" for Game 5 against the Bucks on Monday according to coach Tom Thibodeau, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Mirotic managed to play 20 minutes in Game 4 so it's not all that surprising that he's in line to play Monday. With that, he's averaged 21 minutes on the court in the playoffs thus far and he'll likely see around that same total in Game 4.

It was a bit of a surprise that Mirotic was able to play Saturday, but he didn't appear to be on any sort of minutes restriction. Although he struggled from the field, the Bulls will count on him to provide an offensive punch off the bench in Game 5 Monday.

Mirotic (quadriceps) will be available to play in Game 4, per coach Tom Thibodeau, Nick Friedell of ESPN Chicago reports.

Mirotic suffered a quad injury in Game 2, which sidelined him for Game 3. He wasn't initially expected to play Saturday, but the rookie forward will be able to give it a go.

Mirotic already missed Game 3 and it's not encouraging that he isn't even able to run again yet. The Bulls have a chance to eliminate the Bucks Saturday, which would be big for Mirotic as he would have time for extra rest before the next round would begin. Even if the Bucks do force a Game 5, it's unclear if Mirotic would be able to return.

Mirotic (quad) remains day-to-day in advance of Game 4 on Saturday, ESPN Chicago reports.

Mirotic missed Game 3 after suffering a knee/quad injury in Game 2, and at this point it does not look like he'll be ready for Game 3. With the Bulls up 3-0 in the series, there's little incentive to bring him back unless he's 100 percent.

Mirotic has already been ruled out for Thursday's Game 3 after he suffered a quad injury late in Game 2 during a loose ball scuffle with Milwaukee's Zaza Pachulia. The rookie said he'll continue to receive treatment over the next few days in hopes that he'll be ready for Game 4.
