Sat Nov 27 201008:56Tigers yet to decide on right fielder
The Tigers are unsure as to who will be their right fielder in 2011.
The best internal option is Brennan Boesch, with Casper Wells and Clete Thomas also in the mix. Boesch was fantastic in the first half in 2010, batting .342/.397/.593 with 12 homers, but he tanked after the break, hitting .163/.237/.222 with just two bombs. It's possible the team could consider bringing back Magglio Ordonez or sign another free agent, but they've already spent a boatload of money this offseason on Brandon Inge, Jhonny Peralta, Joaquin Benoit and Victor Martinez. Ryan Raburn appears locked in as the left fielder.

Mon Oct 25 201011:33Boesch might make Tigers' roster in 2011
Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski said Sunday that outfielder Brennan Boesch is not guaranteed a spot on the Tigers' 2011 big-league roster.
Boesch had a stellar start to the 2010 season, batting .342 with 12 homers and 49 RBI before the All-Star break. But he fell off considerably in the later months of the baseball schedule and wound up with a .163 batting average in 221 at-bats down the stretch. "Do we think he can go out and win a job with us? Yes," Dombrowski said Sunday. "Is that guaranteed? No."

Wed Aug 18 201010:12Brennan Boesch struggling at the plate
Brennan Boesch has just one hit in his last 20 at-bats.
Who else saw this regression coming? Boesch is batting .121/.195/.181 with two homers, six RBI and a 376 OPS in 116 at-bats since the All-Star break. Don't count on him in mixed leagues the rest of the way.
Mon Aug 9 201022:27Boesch goes deep in loss to Rays
Brennan Boesch went deep in the Tigers' loss to the Rays Monday.
Boesch didn't start the game, but he grounded out as a pinch-hitter in the sixth and hit an opposite-field home run in the eighth. Not surprisingly, Boesch has slowed dramatically since his red-hot start, as he's batting only .121 in 91 second-half at-bats. His overall digits are still pretty solid (.281-14-55), though, in what has been a nice rookie season, just don't rely on him heavily down the stretch.
Wed Jul 21 201020:02Boesch struggling a bit since hot start
Brennan Boesch has hit .281/.379/.351 in the month of July.
Good, but not great. Boesch has watched his batting average drop from .346 (on June 24) to the .319 mark where it sits today. "It's a growing process," Tigers maanger Jim Leyland said Wednesday. "He's going to be great, but he has to go through the process. It's always an adjustment up here."

Fri Jun 4 201023:04Boesch homers in loss to Royals
Brennan Boesch was 2-for-4 with a double and three-run home run in a loss to the Royals on Friday night.
It was Boesch's first home run since May 22. The young outfielder has tapered off quite a bit from his fantastic start, but is still .339/.377/.612 with five home runs and 25 RBI in just 121 at-bats. He has five hits over the past two days.
Sat May 22 201022:15Tigers' Boesch homers, knocks in three
Brennan Boesch drove in three of the Tigers' four runs with a homer, a double and a groundout on Saturday.
Just when it looked like he might be slowing down. Boesch was 1-for-11 with four strikeouts in his previous three games, and he went five straight without driving in a run. Still, it's going to take a far longer slump before he becomes anything but a fixture in Detroit's lineup.
Thu May 13 201015:53Tigers' Boesch homers, doubles
Brennan Boesch homered and doubled off CC Sabathia in the win over the Yankees on Thursday.
That's awfully impressive, considering that the left-handed-hitting Boesch was making his first start against a southpaw since he was called up three weeks ago. It Boesch keeps hitting, the Tigers are going to have to keep him in the lineup after Carlos Guillen returns later this month. That would turn Guillen into a part-timer.
Mon May 10 201022:45Boesch drives in three in win over Yanks
Brennan Boesch was 2-for-3 with a walk and three RBI in a win over the Yankees on Monday night.
Boesch had a two-run single off Sergio Mitre in the opening frame and later added an RBI triple for some valuable insurance in the seventh. The rookie outfielder is batting .340/.360/.638 with two homers and 14 RBI over 47 at-bats since being called up on April 23. Unfortunately, he's probably Triple-A bound once Carlos Guillen returns from the disabled list.
Fri Apr 23 201009:07Tigers call up OF Boesch from Triple-A
Tigers recalled OF Brennan Boesch from Triple-A Toledo.
Boesch will take the place of the injured Carlos Guillen on the 25-man roster and figures to get a good deal of playing time in the short-term. The 25-year-old former third-round pick was batting .379/.455/.621 with three home runs and 17 RBI to begin the season. He led the Eastern League with 28 home runs last season.
