Delmon Young hit an RBI double to break a 4-4 tie in the 12th inning of Game 1 of the ALCS on Saturday, helping the Tigers to a 6-4 victory over the Yankees.
The double in the 12th was hammered at Nick Swisher in right field, but he played it awkwardly and was unable to make the grab. Young blooped a one-out RBI single to right in the sixth inning, increasing the Tigers' advantage to 2-0, and led off the eighth with a solo blast off Derek Lowe. Despite being acquired just last season, the homer was Young's sixth postseason homer as a member of the Tigers, setting the all-time franchise record.

Fri Jun 29 201221:58Delmon Young homers in loss to Rays
Delmon Young went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's loss to the Rays.
Young's solo blast off David Price in the fifth inning put the Tigers on the board, cutting the Rays lead to 3-1 at the time. His bat has finally started to heat up a bit, as he's now hit safely in 15 of his last 17 starts, raising his average from .254 to .269 in the process. He's still only 26-years-old and has shown the ability to carry an offense when he's going right, so don't give up on him yet in fantasy leagues.

Thu May 31 201222:39Young homers in victory over Red Sox
Delmon Young connected on his second home run of the series and fourth of the year, helping the Tigers to defeat the Red Sox on Thursday.
He finished the night 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI, including the solo homer off of Franklin Morales in the eighth inning. While he has had to deal with plenty of off-field issues this season, Young has struggled to get his bat going out of the gate. He's hitting just .256 on the season with four homers and 19 RBI while hitting primarily fifth in the Tigers lineup. Those who have stayed patient and hung onto Young surely hope that he's starting to heat up, as there's still plenty of potential to be realized in his 26-year-old bat.

Sat May 5 201218:56Young hitless in return to Tigers lineup
Delmon Young went 0-for-4 against the White Sox on Saturday in his return to the Tigers lineup.
Young served as the DH in his first game back from suspension, and will be cast in the same role again on Sunday. The Tigers are much better off defensively with Andy Dirks in left field and Young DH'ing, but Delmon's preference is to play in the field everyday. Regardless, his .229 average and five RBI on the season are dismal regardless of where he's playing.
