Izturis suffered the injury on a swing Saturday night. "I'll just stay off it for a couple of days," the infielder said Sunday. "Ice it, and, like I said, take maybe four days off and get myself ready to finish strong." He's batting .253/.320/.317 in 91 games played this season.

According to Jon Paul Morosi and Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, the Tigers are interested in trading for Angels' infielder Maicer Izturis.
Izturis is apparently a fallback option to Atlanta's Martin Prado, but he would likely be easier to obtain. The 31-year-old batted .276/.334/.388 with five homers, 38 RBI and a .722 OPS over 494 plate appearances this season and is under contract for $3.8 million in 2012. The Tigers could use him at either second base or the hot corner.

Maicer Izturis went 2-for-4 with a two-run double in Los Angeles' 3-1 win over the Mariners on Wednesday.
Izturis' big hit came with the Angels trailing 1-0 in the eighth inning despite having allowed only one hit. Rather amazingly, the multi-RBI effort was his first since April 15 (98 games). He'll bring a .279/.341/.394 triple slash in to play on Friday.

Izturis has been sizzling for much of the season, and now boasts a .331 batting average -- more than 50 points above his career average. His three-hit performance on Monday was his seventh of the season. After trailing off at the end of April, he is 19-for-53 (.358) in May.
