Maicer Izturis (forearm) has resumed baseball activities.
Izturis has been on the disabled list since June 16 due to strained muscle in his left forearm. Angels manager Mike Scioscia said that he should begin swinging a bat by the end of this week. "He's been out for a little bit," said Scioscia. "He's going to need a little time to build up some stamina and swing a little bit in batting practice. That could take four, five, six days, depending on how he feels afterwards. And then you feel comfortable with him in there seeing some live pitching." Angels placed INF Maicer Izturis on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left forearm.
Izturis was originally penciled into Wednesday's starting lineup, but the stiffness in his forearm turned out to be a strain and he could miss up to three weeks. With Erick Aybar also sidelined, look for Brandon Wood's playing time to shoot up. Robb Quinlan was also recalled from the minors.

Sat May 8 201019:23Angels throw Maicer Izturis on disabled list
Angels placed INF Maicer Izturis on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 6, with inflammation in his right shoulder.
Kevin Frandsen took his place on the big league roster and is likely to be used at a variety of positions. Izturis suffered the injury early on this season and aggravated it this week. He shouldn't be out longer than two weeks, but probably isn't worth owning in most leagues anyway.
