Mejia admitted to experiencing a bit of back tightness following Monday's appearance, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports.
Despite the minor tightness, Mejia insists that it didn't affect him during Monday's loss to the Giants, when the right-hander allowed his first earned run since July 7. Nonetheless, it wouldn't be surprising to see the Mets' closer receiver a precautionary day or two of rest. If that turns out to be the case, look for manager Terry Collins to turn to Vic Black or Jeurys Familia if a save situation arises. However, there remains a chance that Mejia simply plays through the ailment.

Mejia took the loss Monday, allowing one run and two hits in his inning of work against the Giants.
Mejia entered a tie game in the ninth inning and allowed the decisive run to score on a Pablo Sandoval RBI double. The Mets' closer hadn't allowed a run since July 7, but has allowed multiple hits in his last three outings.
Sun Jul 27 201418:25Mejia finishes off Brewers to earn 15th save
Jenrry Mejia worked around two hits to close out the Brewers on Sunday for his 15th save of the season.
Mejia made things interesting, as Jean Segura's single put two runners on with two outs, but he got Lyle Overbay to ground out to end it. It hasn't always been pretty, but Mejia has now converted 15 of 17 save opportunities and has blown just one save since June 7. He's locked in as the Mets closer, and he's a mixed league asset as such.

Jenrry Mejia pitched a scoreless ninth inning to pick up his thirteenth save of the year on Tuesday against the Mariners.
Mejia did walk one batter, but otherwise put up zeroes across the stat-line. The scoreless inning dropped his ERA to 3.80. While the ERA doesn't look particularly sparkling for a closer, Mejia has only given up one run over his last ten appearances. He also has 66 strikeouts in just over 66 innings and is 13-for-15 in save chances since assuming the closer's role.

Mon Jul 7 201423:49Jenrry Mejia takes blown save in eighth
After entering with a man on in a 2-1 game in the eighth, Jenrry Mejia took a blown save Monday against the Braves.
Mejia gave up a game-tying double and a go-ahead single in the eighth, with the last run getting charged to him. However, the Mets let him off the hook when Curtis Granderson homered in the bottom of the eighth. Mejia then stayed in and pitched a scoreless ninth, so the night wasn't a total loss for him. He does have three blown saves in just 11 chances now, but he'd probably be doing better if the Mets weren't so stingy with giving him leads in the ninth.

Sun Jun 15 201416:58Mejia earns seventh save, Mets beat Padres
Jenrry Mejia earned his seventh save of the year Sunday in the Mets' 3-1 win over the Padres.
It was his first time on the mound since he was forced from Thursday's loss to the Brewers with back stiffness. And he looked sharp, tossing two perfect innings to protect the Mets' two-run lead. Mejia is likely going to continue to have ups and downs, but the talented 24-year-old right-hander is a must-own in all standard fantasy leagues while he's locked in as the Mets' closer.

Sun Jun 8 201402:07Jenrry Mejia takes blown save, loss
Jenrry Mejia took a blown save and a loss by giving up two runs in the ninth Saturday against the Giants.
After an excellent first couple of weeks in the pen, Mejia has allowed six runs -- five earned -- in 2 1/3 innings over his last four appearances, walking three batters in that span. This was his first blown save, so maybe he'll keep the closer's role baring another blow up. The alternative would be Jeurys Familia, who pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings to set Mejia up tonight and probably won't be available Sunday.

Jenrry Mejia held the Pirates scoreless in the eighth and ninth innings to pick up his fourth save in Tuesday's win over the Pirates.
Manager Terry Collins has had a season-long nightmare with his bullpen, so he called on Mejia to pick up a multi-inning save. Though Mejia allowed a hit and walked two, he was able to close the door. Since becoming the Mets' closer, Mejia has allowed only one unearned run in eight innings and converted all four of his save chances.

Sun May 25 201420:13Mejia slams door on Diamondbacks in nightcap
After taking a loss in the first game of Sunday's doubleheader against the Diamondbacks, Jenrry Mejia slammed the door on in game two, preserving a two-run advantage to earn his third save of the season.
He did allow a two-out single to Chris Owings, but no harm was done. He has pitched well since being shifted to the bullpen, as he hasn't allowed an earned run in 7 1/3 innings while posting a 8/1 K/BB ratio. He should be owned and started in all mixed league formats at this point.
